Let me spell it out as clearly as I can: People are criticizing the dialog in Quantum Conundrum because it is not as sharp and witty as Portal. It's not TRYING to be sharp and witty like Portal. Ergo it's a bad comparison. And let me be clear that the criticisms I've read are not "it was a bad decision to get away from Portal's kind of humor", because that would be a very valid criticism, they're "it's bad because they tried to be like Portal and failed". But they weren't trying. It'd be like criticizing Aliens for failing to create the same kind of horror movie atmosphere as Alien. Maybe you think from a design standpoint it was a bad decision to change the tone of the movie, and that's fine, say that, but they did not "fail" to create the same tone.

What do a tornado and an Arkansas divorce have in common?

OMG this! A million times this! As far as lmgtfy, I agree that sometimes it's an appropriate response, but before using it you should at least make sure that the answer is readily findable in the results.

The help menu in Civ V is fantastic. You can look up almost every aspect of the game in there and it gives you a good description of what it is and how it works, etc. Everything from specific units to abstract concepts like "culture". On piece of advice though: if you search for a unit like "Settlers" and it doesn't bring up what you're looking for, try searching for the singular. Also if you select a unit you can right-click on their icon in the lower left to take you straight to their help page. Finally, if you feel out of depth you can customize how much help the advisors give you in the options menu. I believe the most helpful level is "New to Civ" where they'll tell you just about everything about the game.

That's funny, I was just thinking last night before I went to bed that I've probably got enough games that I bought but haven't played yet to last me a year if need be.
-
I know that, but if they're not going for the same kind of feel in the dialog as in Portal then it's meaningless to compare them.

I mean the actual words that people say. *Edit* - How much sense would it make to talk about the wittiness of the narrative structure?

What dean said (I won't be using it much). It's just the crappy LCD one. Probably the only thing I'll ever use it for will be keeping track of what time it is and changing game profiles for the programmable buttons.

I get that gameplay wise it's just like Portal, but I was talking about the writing specifically. The writing is not like Portal, and it didn't seem to me like it was trying to be like Portal, so I don't get why people are criticizing it by saying it's not as witty as Portal.

I'm going to Brave this afternoon.

My keyboard finally decided to crap out on me, so I got this to replace it. $78 after a 35% off code I had from Raptr.

Thank you!

Of course I say that and now two days later my return key is starting to go mushy...

Yeah, I personally prefer V over IV, but a lot of people prefer IV and I understand why. I wish that they'd added a religious victory type to V. Maybe make it so if more than a certain percentage of the cities convert to your religion (or maybe even all of them) you win or something like that.

If you're interested in multiplats I could name a bunch more. Bethesda RPGs are always going to be better on PC than on console, they've got fantastic mod support.

Starcraft/Starcraft 2. Can't buy them on any of those three services, but they are available for download on Blizzard's site. Starcraft 2 is still $60 though, which is nuts considering it's been out for nearly two years. Also, at least one game from the Civilization series. I can't decide whether to recommend IV or V. I like V's hex grid and lack of unit stacking, and it's probably more new-player friendly, but IV has more complex systems and a lot of people like that. I'd also second FLD's comment about the Deus Ex Steam sale currently going on, and also agree that unless you find a really good deal on something you should probably wait for the summer sale on Steam. That'll help you fill up your library real quick, for very little dough.

Liquid Snake totally sounds like a euphemism for ED. -
December 31st is Amazon's default date for "it's coming out sometime this year"
-
Ah, okay. That I can agree with.
-
Yeah, the reason I hadn't preordered it yet is I wanted to wait and see how long the inevitable delay is going to be.

Based on the rest of that comment I think he's just (badly) saying that those aren't actually 360 graphics (since it's on OXM's site). Cause he goes on to say that he hopes they can do a good job on 360. I really really really hope that's how it is.

You should be fine for RAM, unless you plan on having a lot of players. IIRC a Minecraft server requires ~75MB of RAM per active player, so even if you limit the server to 1GB of your 2GB that's still ~13 players simultaneously. Plus RAM is cheap and you could always upgrade if need be.

I'll play through the new ending at least once, but at this point I've kind of lost interest in the whole game.
