Thanks, already did extensive googling earlier, none of the solutions worked. I'm getting a replacement from Amazon.

  2. There's something immensely satisfying about seeing numbers like that get bigger. It's almost as satisfying as filling up bars. (While this is somewhat tongue-in-cheek, it's also entirely true.)
  3. For me it wasn't that the plot was ambiguous, it was that very little that the characters did made any sense in the context. It wasn't even that they did dumb things, dumb things I can handle, real people do dumb things, it was that their actions seemed to have no cause. The strange thing is, as much as I thought the movie was a great big pile of meh, I really would like to see a sequel, because a lot of the setting elements and questions are interesting and I'd like to see them explored.
  4. Looks like you guys may have been a bit generous in your time estimations: http://massively.joystiq.com/2012/06/15/bioware-considering-free-to-play-for-star-wars-the-old-republic/
  5. Well I don't think anyone (in here, at least) is saying that no games should have that kind of power fantasy violence, it's just sad that it seems like almost all big, AAA games feel obligated to. Watch_Dogs was the perfect example.
  6. Yeah, obviously they have to have a unique identifier for people, but there's no good reason that they can't let people make their own unique identifier so it's a least somewhat easily read by humans.
  7. I like the metro look better than XP. XP always looked to me like a toddler's toy in terms of the roundness and colors of everything. I don't think the metro look is bad, I just don't like it as much as Aero.
  8. Perfectly said. I knew it wasn't analogous to Alien, but I couldn't articulate why.
  9. Assuming you're talking about Asami, that was made pretty clear in the last episode. (I didn't watch the clip, so if you're not talking about Asami I appologize.)
  10. No, I'm not saying this is a company that's joking about the gargling, I'm saying I believe the purported existence of this company to be a joke. Not that I'm going to attempt to go through checkout to test.
  11. I wouldn't call the metro look ugly, I just don't think it's especially nice looking. Aero is more pleasant to look at.
  12. Nathan Drake is often brought up in that context.
  13. There's no way that's not a joke.
  14. Can you save Gravity Rush on the cart, or only a memory card?
  15. Oh come on, that's a stretch to say that's comparing Blizzard to the Nazis. He's just pointing out people's tendency to not care about an issue until it directly affects them, using a famous poem. Yes, the poem was about Nazis, but that wasn't the point he was making.
  16. I think it looks nice. I find the Metro style blocky and plain looking. It's boring. Referring primarily to the taskbar stuff. I actually do like the window frames, though still not as much as Aero.
  17. Here's why I think it's disingenuous to defend Blizzard on the basis that Diablo 3 is an "online multiplayer game" and try to treat it as such: it is not an online multiplayer game. It's online, sure, and it does support multiplayer, and I'll even grant that it's multiplayer-focused, but it's also designed to allow people to play singleplayer. Not offline, but singleplayer nonetheless. Blizzard obviously considered that people would want to play that way and designed the game to accommodate it, and as a result trying to say that banning people from that singleplayer option is justified because it's an online multiplayer game is just deceiving yourself. The singleplayer option exists, and when banned you should retain access to it. Also, I maintain that we do not need to just accept the online-only requirements when discussing this issue. That was a decision that directly led to the current issue, and as such is relevant to the discussion. The fact that it was made in the past does not render subsequent decisions that follow from it immune from criticism.
  18. But Aero's SO pretty.
  19. Is IE that non-compliant with standards?
  20. @Dean: This is an evolution of the conversation sparked by Miyamoto's comment about online not being able to handle all the Pikmin.
  21.     Probably that or something really close.
  22. I do agree with this. A LOT of Nintendo's sales were those "non-traditional gamers", and I don't see them picking up a Wii U. For one thing the branding is way too confusing, so I bet a lot of them won't understand that it's even a different thing. And even for the ones that do I doubt Nintendo will gain much ground trying to get them to buy it when they already have a Wii.
