  1. Frosted Mini-Wheats, you know there's a quote function right?
  2. lol, well the tagline was "Before the beginning, you know the end."
  3. lol, that makes sense. I just thought it was a puzzle that didn't really have a rational reason for existing, beyond the fact that it's a video game. I'm too willing to just accept things in games without explanation.
  4. Well, I wasn't going to preorder, but for 33% off sure, I'll bite...
  5. I thought it was only Eagle Vision that was the magical Assassin power, and that the reason Desmond could climb and jump so well was because of the bleeding effect and him spending so much time doing it as Altair and Ezio.
  6. I got it on 360 back when it was exclusive, and the save-file importing has me locked to that system. Oh well.
  7. I didn't mind the real-world ending, though I agree that the last 10 minutes or so of animus time was lame as hell. It's like they went "I know! Let's take all the fun out of the game for the last bit! People will enjoy that, I'm sure!"
  8. Yeah, TP does look different from OoT/MM, but I think it's mostly a hardware thing. TP is what OoT would have looked like if the 64 had been capable of it.
  9. They released a patch yesterday, maybe that patch fucked up your game.
  10. The coop does sound very extremely cool, though I'm still a little worried it's hurt the singleplayer. I mean, I know they say it hasn't, but of course they're going to say that, it's not like they'd be like "Oh yeah, we totally diverted resources to developing this that otherwise would have been used to improve the SP campaign." So I'm taking their reassurances with a grain of salt. That said, I'm also not assuming that it's hurt the SP, just aware of and slightly troubled by the possibility.
  11. I agree that executing the shield attacks with the nunchuck is hit and miss. Honestly, I think the Gamecube version is better than the Wii version, mostly because of the controls (and the fact that Hyrule isn't mirror-imaged). Too bad there's no GC version of Skyward Sword. Huh, I thought AC:B was significantly better than 2, didn't think it suffered at all.
  12. This. I'm actually torn between being worried and excited, because I am ridiculously in love with coop just in general. Really my only source of worry is what I said above, that I fear (regardless of what they've been saying, which does make me feel a *little* better) that the development of the coop mode(s) diverted resources from the SP, and that the SP suffered as a result. About whether or not it's tacked on, I think something's tacked on if it didn't need to be there, and was added more or less as a bullet-point on the box. How much work they put into it doesn't really factor into whether it's tacked-on or not, IMHO.
  13. So I got into a discussion on Twitter about the various appearances of entries in the Legend of Zelda series, and wondered what people on here think about them. So here's a poll to find out. And yes, Skyward Sword hasn't released yet, but there are plenty of videos if you want to see what it looks like in gameplay. I wish the forum would let me set it up so you can rank them, but it won't, so if you want to rank all three in the comments that would give us even more info to discuss. Votes are public, just FYI, not that anyone should care for this topic. For me personally it goes: 1. WW/PH/ST then well below 2. Skyward Sword 3. OoT/MM/TP I like that the WW style is just more fun. SS has a little bit of that in the more colorful environments and the more cartoony shapes of enemies, overall I'd say it's closer to the "grittier" (if you can use that term to describe Zelda) OoT style. Really my preference for SS over OoT is minimal, the real standout is the WW style.
  14. I'm not sure how they're going to make it work though, ME is such a character driven game. I may be reading too much into the hints we're getting, but it sounds like it's an entirely separate mode, divorced from the single-player campaign. If that's the case why tack it on here like Strangelove said, why not wait and release it as a standalone game or expansion. They've already established that ME3 is the end of the Shepard trilogy, so why not make it a separate game released after ME3? I'm definitely in the "worried it will take focus away from the SP campaign" group, but not enough to say categorically that I'm not getting it.
  15. People (not me, I don't care) might cancel a preorder if they feel that developing the multiplayer would have taken away focus from the single-player experience, thus reducing it in quality, or even if the coop campaign is the same as the singleplayer if they think designing the campaign with coop in mind would have adversely affected the singleplayer experience. Or if they just don't want to support a dev falling into the trap that apparently now every game has to have multiplayer.
  16. Bioware could have done a lot better regarding spin control on this. I mean, multiplayer has been rumored for months, and I don't think I was the only one thinking that meant competitive, not cooperative, and having horrifying visions of something like Gears of War's multi tacked on. I was pretty convinced though that they wouldn't do that cause it would be retarded, so I figured there actually was no multi. Then they confirm there really is multi and everyone goes back to their terrible visions and is like "OMG! The end is nigh!" I think they could have avoided a lot of that by making sure to confirm it as cooperative rather than competitive right from the get-go, instead of this after-the-fact "No, calm down everyone, it's cooperative!"
  17. Yeah, I looked into it, seems Sunday is their day for major releases, like Zelda and Mario.
  18. This: http://twitter.com/#...464817804709888 leads me to believe that the initial reaction to the confirmation of multiplayer has not been good. That looks like the kind of thing that's in response to lots of "Fuck that, cancelling my ME3 preorder" comments.
  19. I've decided I'm gonna start putting pictures in here, like the purchase thread, to make it more interesting to look at. On that note, I have this to add: Though I wouldn't exactly call it hard, I will say that it fixed the problem SMG1 had of just being way too easy. It's obvious to me from playing this, however, that Nintendo has lost their way. I mean what kind of a world are we living in where people can make a game in which you have to hit a boss 4 times to kill it?! Bosses are supposed to precisely 3 hits! No more, no less. Anything else is a crime against nature.
  20. I know, but since it's releasing on a Sunday they don't offer release date delivery, because nobody delivers on Sundays. Seriously, Nintendo, Sunday is the WORST possible day for a release. Friday would be ideal.
  21. Well, was gonna get the marriage license today, but forgot that it's Columbus Day so the courthouse is closed. Also, the fact that the courts and all other government offices are closed today means I basically have nothing to do at work. Not even sure why the office is open, honestly.

The one thing I thought I could do, call a title company, and they're closed too. Maybe I should just go home and finish Mario Galaxy 2...

      「Advent Chaos」

You should, I had class today while my roomies just slept the whole morning. All we did in class was review, I feel kind of ripped off.

Meanwhile, at Public University No. #324,502:

"Fuck Columbus Day. Here, have a midterm exam".

  22. Just went ahead and preordered it from Amazon. Signed up for the Prime trial so I got 1-day shipping for $4.
  23. Ah, well that's promising. I'm so used to "coop" and "multiplayer" being two different things that this whole time I've just been assuming "multiplayer" = "competitive multiplayer".
