In ME1 I actually settled on Soldier after not really liking the other classes. Originally it never really even occurred to me that I might want to play as a soldier, but it ended up being my favorite.

Whereas Homefront more just uses it as something the player probably cares about, but doesn't beat you over the head with how awesome the US is.
