  1. @Mister Jack Yeah, they do affect performance, so if I'm close to 60 fps but not quite there I'll turn off motion blur, but if I'm playing in the 30 fps range I'd rather keep it on so the motion doesn't look as jerky.
  2. That's funny, I don't remember even noticing the chromatic aberration in Reach. The chromatic aberration in No Man's Sky literally gave me headaches though.
  3. Digital Foundry has an analysis of the new Switch, and yeah it's pretty much just the battery life. They say the screen is different, slightly magenta-hued compared to the old Switch's slight yellow hue, but to their eyes the old Switch's screen looks like it has more accurate colors. They also say the new Switch has a little bit better memory bandwidth, which can result in slightly increased performance in certain places where the old Switch is bound by the speed of streaming data (such as Korork forest in BotW). But all in all it doesn't sound like it's worth upgrading for or spending more money on.
  4. I like motion blur if it's done well, it can smooth out the appearance of the motion, especially if you're not running at 60fps. But yeah fuck chromatic aberration, I always turn that shit off, and if the game won't let me I start googling for ini edits. *Edit - Related to @MetalCaveman's comment about Sunset Overdrive, the mission where I finally quit Monster Hunter World was an escort mission entitled "The Best Kind of Mission" and it's like okay, winking at the fact that you know it's bad doesn't make it less bad. (I didn't actually quit because it was an escort mission, it was just something I noticed.)
  5. Yeah, my understanding is the actual performance is the same, but all the components are more efficient, so it doesn't go through the battery as fast.
  6. I think Sony is massively undervaluing how much being part of the MCU was helping Spider-Man.
  7. No, I really mean hooking up with randos. The dumb part is the server cap of 16. It really limits your playerbase to hook up with without jumping servers all the time.
  8. I'm in a weird place where when I'm not playing it I want to be, but once I am actually playing I'm like "this is kinda boring..."
  9. I've played about 4 hours now, and I don't think this game is for me. It's not very much fun solo, and the multiplayer is a lot less seamless than I'd like for just casual random grouping.
  10. Yeah, I just looked up what games they've made, and Sunset Overdrive is literally the only one that both (1) I'd heard of and (2) wasn't a Playstation exclusive.
  11. Lol, we'll have to see, I tend to be done with games after finishing the story...
  12. Bought Monster Hunter: World, because apparently I am psychologically incapable of letting my backlog get below 5.
  13. Final Fantasy XV It was so close to being great in so many ways, but in the end all it manages is OK. You can definitely see the troubled development. Nothing fits together, and the story is an absolute wreck. They try so hard to make it seem epic, but it just feels disjointed and small. But throughout you can see this massive, epic story they were going for, and it just feels sad that it never lives up to it. Basically the best part is the opening scene, and it's kinda downhill from there.
  14. Yeah, I don't see the protesters backing down without either a major victory or a military intervention, and I don't see the Chinese letting them have a victory, so...
  15. @MetalCaveman Ancient Aliens at least used to be on there... Beyond that I really have no idea.
  16. Hmm, this is the first I've heard of Project Blue Book, I'll have to look for it to show up on Netflix...
  17. Well obviously that's not how cameras "shoot". ? Up until the book though I thought the zooming in parts could plausibly be some kind of crazy zoom in effect, rather than actually sticking the lens inside the object, but when it goes between the pages of the book it looks obviously computer animated. Obviously that shot couldn't be gotten by zooming, and it doesn't even look like they were physically shoving the lens in there either.
  18. I completely forgot we had this thread... My thoughts on Artemis were the same. It was fine, but not as good as The Martian.
  19. Idk, the official explanation seems the most plausible one to me: they were supposed to be checking on him every 30 minutes but they were overworked and just didn't, and he was supposed to have a cellmate but the one he had got transferred and due to oversight another wasn't moved in. "Never ascribe to malice that which can be adequately explained by incompetence."
  20. That's the mark of a good game, when you can lose and still have fun.
  21. You think the government killed him?
  22. Yeah, the book was definitely computer animated, so I'm guessing the rest were too, or at least some of them.
  23. I loved that show, I wish there was more than one season.
