  1. Scarily accurate ... except the random frying pan.
  2. Thanks to this thread, new avatar ... accepted
  3. I'm pretty sure there was a Rune Factory game for Wii, I would recommend that. The RF series adds some light dungeon crawling/RPG elements that keep things interesting. I also like the art style better. I LOVE Dorothy, she is adorable. Every single quest for her had me d'awing.
  4. I'd say it's a quasi-fighting game, and it's the only one I can play well either. Mostly because it's simpler - and I mean that in the best way possible. Being able to switch quickly to a new character since the button inputs are universal is just awesome.
  5. I can't play RTS games for the same reason as you, but also because I find it impossible to remember where all my troops are across the map, what they're supposed to be doing, etc. To put it simply, they overwhelm me. Fighting games were mentioned ... I always WANT to like fighting games, so I pick one up every once in a while. Then I find I still suck at them - too hard remembering tons of combos, too hard to understand all the million intricacies of one character versus another. But yeah, just because I don't like these genres doesn't mean I look down upon them or anything, nor do I rule out a game from said genre without trying it. It's just in general they're not my cup of tea.
  6. I've only played a few, but Rune Factory 2 is sooooo good. Definitely one of my favourite DS games. This series would eat my money if I had any
  7. My male Shep wouldn't be able to choose between Tali and Garrus ... both please As I already said, in-game Asari relationships are not technically lesbian. You can (sorta) romance an Asari in ME2 as either a male or female.
  8. A human female (Kelly) and two Asaris are available 'minor' romance options - they're not as full fledged at straight romances (Kelly only gets one real scene IIRC), and they don't get you the 'Paramour' achievement either.
  9. I've never seen Bioware flat out exclude the idea of a gay Shep, but their main quote on it makes it clear that they're sticking to their guns. Basically comes across as dancing around the issue to me. And a bit of a cop out since there's an inkling of a lesbian relationship in ME2 ... so clearly it's not so pre-defined.
  10. Veronica, you can find her at Trading Post 188. Go through her dialogue and she'll mention how she was in love with a woman, but they had to separate. The other is Arcade Gannon, found in Freeside - he's with the Followers of the Apocalypse in the Old Mormon Fort. One of the ways can recruit him with the aforementioned perk, and he makes a few comments on previous male partners. There's also a few other minor characters that the perk works on that would point towards them being gay (or bisexual, of course). Where did you read this? Does this mean my female Shepard who has a relationship with Liara won't be able to pursue it in ME3? Romancing Liara isn't technically 'lesbian' ... Asari are genderless. I guess their way of avoiding the issue, which is a damn shame.
  11. Oh I know, that's why I said 'mixed results'. That was one of the better cases. I'm just saying that they've started along that path, but they could easily do better. And you mentioned not knowing any 'straight gay' characters, New Vegas has a few, and two are potential party members with good backstories.
  12. I've noticed that gay characters are slowly but surely getting fairer treatment in games. I know there was a thread about the 'homosexual perk' in Fallout New Vegas, and as such there are some well-portrayed gay NPCs (Veronica is very likeable and also has an interesting backstory/side quest). Bioware has been ... iffy. I applaud them for trying, but they get mixed results. Zevran was a bit tacky, no 'real' options in either Mass Effect game. Not trying to assume, but it seems they prefer lesbians for the 'straight male fanservice' angle and they don't feature them as important as straight romances. I would love for them to step it up and improve this for ME3. Official response has been fairly disappointing, though.
  13. Any RTS (Starcraft, C&C). I'm sure they're fine games in their own right, but they make me feel dumb.
  14. Hmm? I posted in that thread and I was able to link a bunch of different Youtube videos.
  15. That's really a pretty wide question. In general the community and any sort of organization are against it, but as others have said when it comes down to specifics, some people care and some don't. But I would say, "in general", yeah it's offensive. I personally care a fair bit, but I don't tend to point it out if it's not a big deal. Mostly cause I'm not an arguer, or trying not to be one anyways.
  16. She only got it starting with year 3 because she wanted to take more school courses than actually possible. She didn't mention it because as soon as you start talking about the magical time travel device, everyone's gonna want one - it's supposed to be a secret, for a good reason. She has used it before it's shown, chronologically. So yeah, in the movie it kind of comes out of nowhere. But in the book it keeps getting mentioned that Hermione seems to be in multiple places at once through the school year. (Not trying to convert you or anything It's just this is more of a case of the movie versions leaving stuff out. I see your point on the rest)
  17. Pretty much the entire soundtrack from every Metroid game is awesome. More Metroid: Some stuff from other games off the top of my head. Children of the Elder God (Alan Wake) The End Run (Mass Effect 2)
  18. I saw Harry Potter 7 Pt 1 a couple of weeks ago, I liked it a fair bit. It kinda helps that I hadn't read the book in a while, because if you see the HP movies and the book is still fresh in your mind, the movie sucks in comparison. Regardless, I liked the acting and I didn't think the pacing was as bad as people say.
  19. I was playing the campaign at my friends and was having so much fun. I want Black Ops soooo much, but I am poor
  20. I am currently playing Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising. It is causing ... mixed feelings. First mission, I thought the game was clunky and unpolished. Second through fifth missions, I start to get a better understanding of the game, and start having fun. Still seems rough around the edges (read: teammate AI bounces between excellent and ridiculously terrible), but overall a pretty good 'tactical shooter' feeling is prevalent. Sixth mission is a stealth mission. And I swear to god it's impossible to enter this fuel depot without being detected Starting to annoy me.
  21. Not enough moustaches. 0 out of 3 bearded women.
  22. Pokemon Yellow Version - Back when Pokemon was awesome. I got this game when I was a kid along with a matching yellow Gameboy (because my mom is awesome). A very good introduction to RPGs and packed with content. Golden Sun - Another great RPG with lots to do, on the surface it seems like a simple turn-based but it has a couple of good mechanics that make it more unique. Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas - 3 and Vice City were pretty damn good, but I consider this one the best. Tons more to do, huge environment, better characters, and lots of fun cheat codes. Mass Effect - The game that convinced me to get a 360. One of the best story/character interaction in any game, it's one of the few that really manages to suck you into the game and make you feel like you're Commander Shepard. Some disagree but I also thought the gameplay was solid, with lots of skills and equipment upgrades. Metroid Prime - Without a doubt the greatest game ever made. Amazing gameplay and graphics, memorable bosses, plus an interesting spin on how to do storytelling. All the areas are very well designed and for once it's actually fun poking around and finding every last collectible. Resident Evil 4 - Fun fact: This was the first M-Rated game I ever owned. So the plot and voice acting were fairly iffy, but ignoring that this game is fantastic. Polished shooting mechanics plus challenging gameplay, and it's incredibly replayable. Super Smash Bros. Brawl - Besides being a gigantic love letter to any Nintendo fan, this game just has so much damn content. Tons of characters, stages, items, songs ... it just goes on. I also personally loved how the SSB series discarded the thing I hate most about fighting combos - billions of complex combos that are unique to each character. Instead it opted for a simple control scheme that allowed you to easily switch characters, and left the complexity in how the moves and attacks interacted with each other. Super Mario All-Stars - As far as I know, this was the first game I ever played. If you've never heard of it, it has SMB1, SMB2 (both the American and Japan versions), and SMB3, all in one package and redone with improved graphics. 3 Mario games in one package basically makes it infinitely replayable. Tales of Symphonia - This game is just amazing. Again the plot is a bit meh, but the actual characters are very memorable. The gameplay very engaging since it's real-time and uses a combo system that's not too hard to get a hold of, plus an awesome feature where you can control your allies AI to better shape how a battle turns out. Besides that, it has all the hallmarks of a great RPG - tons of stuff to do, tons of items to collect, but it pulls them all together nicely. I have a bad memory so I'm probably forgetting something ... but these games are definitely pretty huge in my eyes.
  23. I wholly approve of your avatar. 10 out of 10 shiny metal asses.
  24. Well, are there any that you have close that aren't too ridiculous to finish? Just pick one and make it a point to finish it!
