  1. The day is coming for a crisp looking Pokemon game. Edit:
  2. I'm thinking it'll take a while unless they give up partway through trying to fix it. We'll see...
  3. For Master Mode for the road. Maybe it'll force me to use advanced techniques to combat harder enemies because I seriously just forgotten to parry attacks a third way in the game since I freeze most of them... And I should plan on a micro SD purchase in the near future.
  4. I can finally watch these two and yeah, Mark is spot on about the adventure aspect and the music that accompanies you as Link. As for his future Boss Key video, I wonder what he has to say about BotW's shrines and Divine Beasts. It's a complicated mix of good, okay and bad. I have no issues with the Divine Beasts themselves but definitely something about the time preceding most of the Divine Beasts. As for the shrines. The time before you go inside the shrines varies from just walking up to and entering them, to solving an environmental puzzle or quests to reveal them. I loved most of the environmental puzzles and quests. Not so much love of the ones you just walk up to. As for the insides, it's varied as well. Some you just collect your reward and others can build up on a concept to even include an area beyond the shrine normal end point.
  5. My ultimate problem with these micro-transactions and especially those that buy power is that the devs (e.g., Bungie, Monolith) will make changes to the gameplay to encourage these micro-transactions. Even if you don't partake in the micro-transactions it will still affect your game. Right now it is kind of subtle but give it some time and we'll get some egregious cases pop up.
  6. Core-A Gaming Fighting games analysis. Absolutely one of the best gaming channels.
  7. I was planning on getting it on PC but you know... the game is really suffering from a death of a thousand cuts but all those pesky micro-transactions. Like how some people draw the line at Denuvo, I draw the line with the micro-transaction fuckery. Very similar case with Shadow of War.
  8. The Legend of Zelda: The Breath of the Wild Beat this tonight with some shrines left over and a ton of side quests to finish. As an open-world game it is fantastic and may be the best ever. The sense of wonder as you turn a corner or go over a hill or just looking at the scenery is amazing in the varied world of Hyrule. It drove my exploration like I haven't done since I was a kid (I totally checked out a lot of nook and crannies in LttP). Plus you can almost literally go anywhere by climbing or gliding. That freedom, however, is the downfall of most of the mainline quests and hell, exploration. In most cases when the game provided me with a challenge, I have the option to completely sidestepped it in response. It is also common that I come across challenges backwards or bits and pieces. There's only a few times that I recall that I was forced to face something head-on. For the mainline quests, it was the Zora's Domain due to the constant rain. It forced me to take the beaten path and face many things head on. In that time I got to know Prince Sidon quite well and in turn I remember and hold more dearly this part of the story. The rest is pretty forgettable, save for maybe Death Mountain. You hardly have time to build a rapport with anybody or any race. For a shrine quest, there was one where you are in an enclosed ruins with tons of broken down Guardians. No real way to run through them all so it was a puzzle to figure out how to kill them all. Thing is that I got to the mid point when a Blood Moon rose and revived all the ones behind me. I was trapped in one tiny spot where none of them can see me. I could've teleported out (they should've lock this down since I've gotten out of quite a few of binds by teleporting out) but I didn't. I pretended it wasn't there since I was half way there. Problem is that I am severely running out of weapons to combat the Guardians. So... I ran and glided through laser fire to get to the shrine. For a game, limitations can be a good thing! Still though, this game is great. Second or third best game this year. It'll be interesting to see where Nintendo takes the series from here. Now to see if I can cobble Ganon soon after leaving the Shrine of Resurrection... or not. I got Cold Steel in my mind!

tl;dw: The Madman did it. It's actually an interesting and very involved process to get to the point that he has a headphone jack.
  10. I watch that years ago. Since the series is making the rounds in Falcom related communities, I got to say, having the Trails background made the series way more hilarious. GO FIGHT
  11. Not sure why I watched a Destiny 2 story mode stream but... it for sure feels like classic Bungie.

      Hot Heart

Yeah, I'm getting that vibe from playing it. A really good mixture of winding, multi-level environments and bigger, open areas, along with the odd set piece here and there.

  12. This hurts my soul even more than the special Hell that was Polygon's gameplay of DOOM. Though at least this isn't an official gameplay video to showcase the game.
  13. Fun thing. Me and my brother didn't realize that the Switch has a touch screen up till a couple weeks ago. For some reason it skipped out in our minds...
  14. I always felt that solo Adol created tighter combat. You can argue that switching party members is like switching swords but to me it doesn't feel as tight. And yeah, there is hints of nostalgia and me memeing the badass that is Adol fucking Christin.
  15. A stealth section in a Zelda game? Boo.

I don't recall in Twilight Princess which was the last one I played since LttP.

Twilight Princess had a TINY stealth section snooping around Ordon Village as a wolf, trying to retrieve the Ordon sword and shield.  Like 3 minutes.  Majora's Mask had one sneaking through the Deku Palace. Ocarina of Time had sneaking through Hyrule Castle, and later Gerudo Fortress.  Oracle of Seasons had you tailing the Subrosian Pals who were hiding their treasure.  These mostly sucked.  Link Between Worlds had an actually good stealth section in one of the dark world segments on the east side of the map.  Breath of the Wild brings us right back to having a stealth section that sucks.

That was off the top of my head :P  I may well be forgetting others.

Wind Waker had sneaking through Forsaken Fortress and tailing the thief girl through Windfall.  Breath of the Wild has you sneaking around to follow that goddamn Korok.

  16. Is a screen protector that necessary?
  17. The micro-climates completely fell apart today. 100+ in the Bay Area, specifically San Francisco which broke their all time high of 103 with 106. We were forecast to be in the upper 80's to 90's. And I just came back from the inland area around Sacramento which hit 110 or so. Some areas probably got 115+. Where the fuck are we? Death Valley (they've been hitting 120...)?
  18. The last boss will go down this time. I might be harsh about it but then again, never before had a last boss challenged me like so... I guess it makes it a good last boss?
