    Apple

Fighting a rather public $1billion lawsuit with the largest mobile phone manufacturer in the world to prove that their (cheaper) phones are exactly like yours is maybe not the best idea in the long run. (though their iPhone/iPad sales are continuing to increase). Even without that it's inevitable as seen by their history with Macs(which did decrease). They make premium products at premium prices, own the market for a while then someone else comes along with a cheap OS and someone else with cheap h/w and hey presto they own 85-90% of the market and Apple shares the remaining amount with obscure platforms (in the case of phones Linux n Windows swap around positions).
  2. http://penny-arcade....lains-why-stret PAR chat with Andy Schatz of Monaco. He's not a fan of stretch goals. I'll just copy-paste my reddit comment: It's a bit of a sweeping and generic statement though. Many developers will have ideas, grand and magnificent, on what they'd love to do with their game, and they need to balance it against how much they think people would provide for a kick starter. So they'll budget for what they need in order to make the base game, minus all the trimmings, and offer that up for the masses on Kickstarter. If they get more, and that can be likely, it means they can put in more of the features they'd wished to do. The other option being budget for their grand design and offer that to Kickstarter at the much higher budget that they might not receive. Also in many cases you can also offer up stretch goals that don't affect the gameplay; hiring in a proper/better musician, expanding to more platforms, revamp of art styles, release of source code, creation of level editors, etc. Or just don't offer any at all (as was the case with FTL, though that was early days).
  3. Found the thread. http://www.develop-online.net/news/43063/Sony-slapped-with-250000-fine-for-PSN-hack ICO fines Sony £250,000($400K) over the PSN Hack.

  5. http://singularityhub.com/2013/01/22/robot-serves-up-340-hamburgers-per-hour/ http://momentummachines.com/#product Machine that can make 360 gourmet burgers an hour. I'll add in gourmet cos when I first heard of machine that'll do 360 burgers an hour I assumed just something that flipped a few burgers, maybe put it in a bun and it was done, not make an entire pub quality burger. You don't seem to get the skewer in the top, but robots can't do everything.
  6. That the end of the world thing? It seems interesting, didn't realise it had started mind.

    Ouya

http://www.ouya.tv/its-all-about-control/ Some updates to the controller. I'm thinking given they've gone with rubberising instead of inverting the thumbsticks MS might have a very strong patent on that idea cos general agreement is the dips are good but you never really see it anywhere else.

  11. Relevant to this thread. GeForce Experience now in open-Beta. Might be worth checking the specs thing first since if you don't hit the specs it's a fancy driver updater as I found out http://www.geforce.com/drivers/geforce-experience
  12. We've got Darwin on our money and I'd question a Darwin day. Sounds more like it's to stir up shit with creationists. He's not even American.

      Waldorf and Statler

Apparently the game looks best on the dolphin emulator so I might give it a download there

  14. Eh, better to not cover the rumour at all. If you were fine blasting out "rumours" as long as marked as such you could post pretty much anything.

    Steam

http://steamcommunity.com/chat/ This is now a thing. And now also extra goodness in the beta too: http://steamcommunit...915144362275196 tl;dr: - New Steam updater (it's no longer the grey box of yore, but I think that might get skinned later on) - Beta updates will use the beta changelog and not the usual client changelog (which normally is a few weeks out of date and irrelevant) - Offline Messaging - Logged chats (means it'll act a bit like forum chat in having some of the prior messages in the window) - Removed "/me" which kinda sucks - Oh and a steam group for Betas which I just linked.
  16. I think the last game I bought because of a demo was Flower. I haven't ever played the copy of Flower I ended up buying. There's plenty of games I've bought after "demoing" though. Not sure if they'd count. There's als White Knight Chronicles, had WKC2 on rental, bought WKC on sale. Might end up with FFXIII-2 some point too from similar circumstances.
  17. Dredd. It's rather Judge Dredd-like. My housemate, whose only exposure to it is the Stallone film, was quite surprised by how ultra-violent it is. Also refreshing to have a non-origin story comic book film (though I guess it could count as an origin story for Anderson). The story was fairly simple, but it's an action film so not expecting much out of it. Also Johannesburg is seemingly somewhat distinctive, at least when used in films.
  18. Isn't that classed as assault in most countries?

    Dota 2

Folks up for some DOTA2 this weekend? What day might be best? What time(include timezone)? Basically want at least 5 guys really, that makes a team. 6 means 3vs 3 and increments of 2 on top of that mean 4vs4 n 5 vs 5.
  20. To answer the question I guess someone who is at least somewhat headstrong. Mainly not being like; "what film would you like to watch", "I dunno, you decide", "What would you like to do on the weekend" "I dunno, you decide" and so on. There was a lass in secondary who infatuated with me and was a fair bit like that, hence me forming this opinion on it being a trait I'd like to see in potential partners.* Music not mattering too much to them, because I don't see the fuss on it and that's more a thing of me being an perfect partner side of thing. But enjoying films would be something near the top, certainly above games. Games is a bonus, but I can (and frequently do) play games on my own, but I see films as very much a social thing. Hard to snuggle during gaming too compared to watching films. As far as looks go? Blue eyes is like a fucking jackpot. The brighter and bluer the better. As far as overall looks go I don't care too much for like the big breasted woman or muscly man. There's no hard and fast rule on it all, certainly fringe cases in either way but I guess tomboyish gals and feminine dudes. *Incidentally I found out a few years later that indecisive lass wouldn't care too much on the whole human side of things. I've no issues with furries but I guess I wouldn't want to live with one long-term.
  21. http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2013-01-22-dead-space-3-includes-micro-transactions-for-buying-better-weapons Dead Space 3 will be Free-2-play and be powered using micro-transactions. Oh wait no, it's still a $60/£40 game, will still have microtransactions though. PAR goes a bit more in-depth on it all: http://penny-arcade.com/report/editorial-article/dead-space-3-introduces-microtransactions-but-the-worse-crime-is-against-th
  22. Puss in Boots Not quite as good as the shrek films that spawned it (minus Shrek 3, that one sucked) but fairly watchable. Probably a great films for the kids.
