  1. The ones I listed are just from the random HIB's I've purchased over the past one and a half years. Which in counting is 7 of the 19 gaming bundles (one was a music one and one was the ebook one). And I rarely pay over the average too. In general, especially when it comes to the HIBs/HABs instead of the dev bundles, a third of the games in the bundle are puzzle platformer types. After that it's point and clicks. And then after that yeah it starts to fracture severly across several genres n genres yet to be named (though you can likely just call them "puzzle")
  2. Grabbed the FFVII Modern PC version off the SE store. SE store is trash, but game was cheap.
  3. http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2012/12/19/thq-filing-for-bankruptcy-selling-off-assets/ And THQ is filing for bankruptcy. But it seems as if from a consumer point of view we'll likely not see anything change.
  4. http://www.rockpaper...team-customers/ They are a class act.
  5. Dammit, this popped up during work and I figured "woot, LoG and might get to try out Binding of Isaac since loads of folks bang on about it". Now I get home and find LoG is a beat the average game, I own Dungeon Defenders already and certainly don't care for Shank 2 and two more "Puzzle platformers"*. *It's funny you have folks moan about AAA games all being FPS titles, and indies will save us from this repetitive drudge and yet most indie titles are fucking puzzle platformers. Without even trying I've ended up with Braid, And Yet it Moves, Gish, Cave Story, Nightsky, Aquaria, Toki Tori, Super Meat Boy, VVVVVV, Trine, and this would add Closure and Snapshot to the mix. And I'm sure if it could it'd add to Indie Game the Movie and throw in Fez too.
  6. GOG.com End of the World Sale. 75% off 125 games http://www.gog.com/ FFVII PC version is 50% off https://store.eu.square-enix.com/emea_uk/pc-windows-download/FINAL-FANTASY-VII.php (might be EU only)
  7. Yeah a bunch of PSN titles (Critter Crunch, Super Stardust HD) will hit 1080p60. I would imagine Carmack is talking about stuff like Battlefield 4, Infamous 3, Watchdogs, etc. It would be pretty disappointing if any 8th gen console couldn't run Mario at 1080p60.
  8. Also they've apparently changed the TOS to disallow refunds.

    Steam

And I'll continue it as it was something that was mulling over in my mind last night but I was in bed at the time. This whole kerfuffle does reflect very badly upon Steam, and I would hope the wider audience maybe takes Gabe off a pedestal for a bit and realise this. Steam currently has a very weird balance between the Apple App store and Android App store in that it's closed off, you can't just throw your game on their and expect to be admitted, yet it also has next to no review process beyond (at the moment) Greenlight. Which Valve seem pretty fluid on how they use it given as best I can tell War Z is now on Steam, with the new "everything new must be through Greenlight" rules, yet Hammerlight and OP Productions are completely new to Steam and were never voted in. And this isn't the second game to hit Steam in an unfinished state, Towns had an issue of launching on steam in an Alpha state, and also having screenshots of the games that are using mods. (and hasn't updated their page to reflect this).Yes Valve can't be held account for every bug and issue a game may have, but this should be held accountable when the store pages on their client/website are deceptive and when devs are allowed to abuse Valves supplied community hub pages. (And edit the TOS to disallow refunds, which I'm pretty sure is illegal and surprised to find that's something in the devs hands and not the distributors). edit: Also since this had become a bit of a general Steam thread, and most of the deals going in the Game Deals thread, I have tweaked the title and subtitle to suit.
  10. Is it? I've not seen any breakdowns of it's output but given it hovers between slightly powerful and not as powerful as the X360 and PS3 I find it hard to believe it has output 2 to 3 times (and a little bit on the side) more than those two.
  11. An expansion for this Free To Play game has been announced: http://www.swtor.com/buy?intcmp=sor_bwa-mkt-t-us-hp-012
  12. http://www.develop-online.net/news/42817/Carmack-Next-gen-games-will-still-target-30-fps So Carmack reckons next gen will continue at 30fps, but a boost to 1080p as standard. Which isn't too bad I guess, kinda what I was expecting, and there will be games that prefer 60fps over resolution (as there are this gen) that'll likely run at lower resolution.
  13. TotalBiscuit has done a video on it. I've not watched it all the way through but it seems to be getting pretty good reaction.
  14. I'm sure it has been said it starts on the 20th (by the same dev that got the autumn/halloween sale spot on the money too). edit:And ends on the 4th January. http://www.joystiq.c...sale-dated-too/ edit 2: What is the policy on buying by Xmas? Just..well I might not actually be free until 26th given I could be working up until 24th, and then 25th is a bit of a no-no (I'm sure I can squeeze in time mind).

Apparently all of you want the Mariah Carey song. Also I'm wanting clothes too, side effect of losing weight this year :P

      Congrats on the weight loss!

  16. And the list: http://filmographile.tumblr.com/
  17. It's worth keeping in mind, lore/story wise, that the aim was for this to be an SP introduction into an eventual MMO.
  18. @KS: It doesn't have to move, but it can. Which contributes to something I thought of adding into last post but didn't; of the two Columbia is the most likely to get funded due to the tactical advantages of having a floating fortress over a submerged one. Another thing I forgot to add in is the existence of the Eurofighter, a plane that technically shouldn't fly but by the power of computers it can. And as mentioned previously our structural engineering skills have come leaps and bounds in the past few decades. @Ethan: I didn't say nothing could go below 150 metres, I said specifically the Sealabs failed once they got to 150metres. (Also Rapture was roughly 2,500M below the ocean surface)
  19. Uruk-Hai are a Orc-Human half-breed, not simply larger Orcs. Anywho for Ethan: LotR And The Hobbit: (There's next to no non-Goblin King goblin images on the net at the moment, which sucks)
  20. It's more a case of security through obscurity. Should it be the "One Ring" then none of the higher powers can be entrusted with it, including gandalf himself (as he explains he'd probably be even worse than Sauron, even if he used it to do good). Given Frodo was instructed to not use it his immunity as a hobbit doesn't really matter.
  21. They're black/blue in LotR and white/cream in The Hobbit.
  22. Well it couldn't be one of those as
  23. The design difference is more a case of how it is in the books. There's different "races" of Orcs/Goblins. @TME: He makes fine sense as far as the story goes. No problem with him there.
  24. I nearly picked it up for £10 other day (PC version), but figured I'd wait for Steam sale, then maybe grab it come January.
