PXOD Secret Santa 2012 -- Targets Assigned!
deanb replied to P4: Gritty Reboot's topic in Event Planning
CrowKnow is another Kyle. I will repeat that Santas should make themselves known in the gifting message, tis the season for plenty other people to be randomly gifting games. -
http://blog.us.playstation.com/2012/12/12/littlebigplanet-2-cross-controller-pack-out-next-tuesday/ LBP2 to get support for Vita as a controller next Tuesday. They showed this at announce of the Vita but up until now hadn't gotten anything out on it in hands of consumers. Wonder how many places will report on it as copying Wii U when it was shown at the same event the Wii U was.

Errm you guys know that this was likely a thing already coming, not bowing into pressure. They did say pretty early on they'd have community chosen covers (obviously didn't furnish it with the detail that it would be a reversible cover like suggested). So no it's not some "oh now they're bowing to the whining fans". (and are we really going with the "you're only a real fan if you buy games for £40"?).

http://www.youtube.com/watch?&v=2vKz7WnU83E I guess it's Trailer season eh? Nice to see GlaDOS has expanded her reach and put all that testing to use. Also I assume this is the answer to the issue folks had with the Rock 'em Sock 'em robots movie of "they use them just for boxing?" edit: eurgh. Youtube layout change has chosen to make so many of the videos https. Remember dudes n dudettes: remove the s and it embeds fine.

Which brings us back to my initial point of just having a reference system like the Windows Experience Program. Or the recently announced/currently beta's Geforce Experience. btw one of the advantages of building your own PC is knowing exactly what is under the hood, so you can match it up with what the game requires. A pre-built loses some of that ability, and if you're going to just rely on games having a "works on Steambox lv2" then folks will likely become complacent and be even less averse to experience PC gaming unless it comes with a "it's okay to buy this game" sticker (of course that thinking does hugely work in Valves favour. You're not going to attempt to buy games from other services that use "System Requirements" instead of Steambox ratings)

Might I suggest Dungeon Keeper 2. I'm debating on Theme Hospital, it's a game I wanted when younger but never got it for whatever reason.

Oh god I've never heard Japanese Goku, he sounds hilarious. Also I think projector bulbs only last like 10,000hrs, I think having to swap out mid-film might ruin it.

http://irrationalgames.com/insider/poll/ The direct link for folks wanting that. And is WaS not happy with this news?

If folks are taking issue with Thursdays "build a HTPC" then just buy one pre-built. You're going to get the exact same experience. Valve have zero fingers in the hardware industry too so you're not going to be getting it any cheaper than existing HTPCs. As established Valve have no power to change Windows, so installing Steam and booting up Big Picture on Steam start is going to be the exact same experience too. And if it wa to use Linux (thus drecreasing cost, and bypassing the whole "You can't make Steam run over Windows" thing, you lose 99% of games in the Library. If you're currently on an underpowered rig because you can't afford a high-end rig, what is it you're expecting from a cheap "Steambox" HTPC? Also there has been nothing said, even in the original Kotaku article, about them making a custom OS. @Madbass: No Xbox is not running Windows. The original Xbox ran a WinNT base, but once again isn't Windows. One of the big giveaways is 360 is a PowerPC architecture and Windows up until WindowsRT has only ever supported X86.

https://www.facebook...151372387656807 And on the premiere we get a clip of the fateful meeting. And an interview with some of the cast. http://www.bbc.co.uk...t-arts-20702044 We're planning to go see it Saturday night. Should be good.

Sucker Punch? Great style, little to no substance. Fun movie to put on in the background. Also not based on a comic book, thus can be safely ignored when making guesses on how good Man of Steel will be. There does seem to be a lot going on in that film though, very apocalyptic scale things going. I wonder how short/long the origin will be if they're wanting to dive into stuff like that (somewhat hoping the film won't be too origin-ey.)

That's more a case of closed versus open platforms, than open source. They can match up but it's not a rule or anything (Android is OSS, and open paltform, iOS is closed source n closed platform, Windows is closed source, and currently open platform-ish). As already covered by FDS they've only had one game on PS3 since Portal 2 so it's not really time yet to call if it's a failed merger or not (We'll likelly see more of it come PS4/Source 2). As already stated, it would have to run Windows or it wouldn't run the Steam catalogue. Ever noticed the first time set-up: Microsoft DirectX, Microsoft CV redistributable Microsoft .NET Framework. Most PC games are heavily tied to the Windows environment, and porting over 1,500+ games to Linux is just not going to happen. Most don't even bother updating their games to match newer versions of Windows. It's also covered the OS isn't why they can squeeze out extra performance, it's the same hardware for 5+ years (which is why despite the OS/FW getting more bloated over time the games look better n better). The OS on PC is the reason PC games require higher specs, especially RAM, than their console counterparts. Going over to Linux, and putting in all the stuff that makes video games run, isn't going to be particularly much slimmer than Windows. You can actually turn stuff on and off within Windows if not needed. As for building computers: You don't have to personally do it yourself. I've built plenty for mates. It's not really a requirement of PC ownership and I really doubt using Linux is going to make the PC use much simpler either. If anything the linux community would likely make troubleshooting even worse. There's a Russian OS, ReactOS, that's built to copy Windows all reverse engineered and stuff, I think they're working on bringing it on par with XP at the moment. There's huge legal issues around reverse engineering Windows to make a clone though, one you can kinda ignore in Russia but not if you're a few streets down from Microsoft themselves. That leaves WINE for Linux, a suitable solution for personal use, but trying to have it as a core of a major gaming catalogue not so much since if you mess about with it yourself and find it doesn't work so well, well no loss. But if you're selling games that rely on WINE running it perfect parity of native Windows then it becomes a lot more troublesome. They're likely showing the Logitech controller because the main controller to show (and the one it's definitely built for) is the Microsoft Xbox 360 controller for Pc, and well. Microsoft. Until there's more on this from sources other than an interview with Kotaku I'm not planning on spending too much time speculating on what they're planning. Most of the suggestions are infeasible/counter-productive/pointless to make them seem realistic options. Of course it'll be a couple years until we see anything come of it should it be an object that is coming.

Isn't their a slight problem in that the CE for Infinite is like a hundred brazzillian pound (plus tax). This is my InFamous cover: It cost me like £1 more iirc (also came with bit of DLC too). That'd be an alright compromise between the "Likes the game enough to not need the advert cover, but not enough/deep enough pockets to get the collectors edition.". I am with Ethan though, I'd like to see a bit more info/stats/figures than them just saying "well it's a generic cover so it'll get in those COD types n such", because I've a feeling it won't sell particularly much more than the traditional gains of a sequel. I'm European, I guess I'm not used to the concept of having the shitty covers yet. Americans are already a bit desensitised. Also the whole work thing means I post at night/morning compared to the olden days of whenever (I'll be back to normal come xmas onwards)

I was under the impression the only Google Music app is the Google Music app, due to the whole no-API thing that kinda makes it hard to make alternate apps that access your Google Music. [WordHero] I've bing playing this. I'm currently in the Platinum league. Though I do kinda suck so I'm surprised I made it this far. I think I might actually be impeded by using my Note since I've further to travel with my finger to make words. Also I finally activated Appaware (installed it ages back, just hadn't set up an account), and if you add me as a friend we can recommend apps and such. (p.s the default is to only show the recommendations publicly, the app list is normally friends only and you can hide apps if you wish)

I should probably give this a spin at some point, I've had the beta downloaded for a month now. If it's going to be open beta I guess we could make an event of it in the new year.

Season 3 of Lost is the introduction of The Others village. Season 4 ends in 6 of them leaving the Island. Smallville's pretty good, but kinda sucks at the start with the "Freak of the week" layout, and super sucks with the shitty introduction of Superman towards the end. But the development of the Lex Luthor/Clark Kent friendship/enemyship is great to watch. There's also the fun element, if you're into your DCAU, of The Flash being Lex Luthor. There's also some great range of dudes from previous Superman and related stuff; Chris Reeves (Superman), Dean Cain (Superman), Terence Stamp(Zod), Annette O'toole(Lana Lang), Lynda Carter (wife of Zenimax CEO and Amazonian Princess). There's also Darth Starkiller as Doomsday, Dr Daniel Jackson as Hawkman, and probable many other recognisable faces (like..errm well Boone from Lost..). It's a pretty great spin on the superman mythos, combined with a slightly more traditional high school based show (At least for the first few series) Firefly did go on for five series, but with the small problem that the complete box-set is only available in the "Welcome to Heaven" gift basket.

I know, but she won't have any of it. Anyway, makes as much sense as any other method of picking which date to put up the decoration. And yeah it'd be kinda hard, especially now being like 20 years older ourselves.

Because I'm only this past week getting into the radio again I'm semi-new to this. Apparently Skyfall is the UK's highest grossing film, beating Avatar. (though Gone with the Wind is the most bums in seats, not that any of you give a damn) edit: Also this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b0AvWmmfQns Also due to recent videos: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qu0QO1za64E
