  1. http://www.bbc.co.uk...litics-18567855 This was on BBC News 24 just now (where the Tory interviewed about it repeating the same 2-3 lines several times). Seems kinda stupid to me. What should really be done is to completely revamp how the housing benefit system works because atm it only encourages landlords to continually push rent up higher n higher and the gov't then stupidly go n meet that. They seem to be wanting to put a spin on this as it keeping family together, but it ultimately puts a burden on the family directly. rather than allowing the young to leave the home and go where the work is. Bit of a big F-U to anyone in rural areas where local jobs can be very slim on the ground. Under their plan if I was to get this web dev job I'm eyeing up, but it was further afield, I'd be fucked cos it doesn't pay enough to live off independently, so I'd have to turn down this "First step on the job ladder" unless in the same area at the same time I was able to get a second job on top. Given the difficulty in getting even a first job bit of a fat chance. Rather than going "here's £2billion we can easily just cut off" maybe play a long term plan n see how that £2billion could not be straight up cut but be better redirected in getting young people into work. Too many "entry level" jobs that require years of experience. Too many specialist jobs that require training. When the gov't is able to offer these workers to employers for free suddenly they have these positions that need filling, but otherwise they don't exist (probably cos the gov't is filling these positions with free workers) Oh n Rowan Williams had a bit of a go at Camerons "Big Society" but I've not looked into that one much yet http://www.guardian.co.uk/uk/2012/jun/23/rowan-williams-big-society-cameron
  2. http://savygamer.co....e-2-pcmac-6-41/ Dragon Age Ultimate (so that's Dragon Age Origins, Dragon Age Awakenings, and Dragon Age DLC) and Dragon Age 2 for $10/£6. Registers with Origin if you're into that (or just grab it off Amazon). UK instructions included on the link. p.s: Danielpholt you might want to grab this.
  3. You think Asami and Bolin? I think Asami n Iroh. Though Bolin better get someone. Cos ..you know..
  4. For $50 why not just buy a proper compost bin? I don't know on the US but in UK there's also frequent subsidy/deals/promotions for compost bins cheap to encourage folks to do it. Maybe something similar in the US too? if you're going through with current plan may I suggest making sure any "worm holes" you put into the tubs are smoothed/sanded out too so the worms don't get cut. If you're just drilling them then they'll be pretty sharp on the edges. Good luck.
  5. Argh. Stupid General "doesn't bother with a different voice" Iroh. Kinda sucked you out each time he spoke. Not the only one though. Overall pretty ace. Shock twist, though I dislike it. The end we saw coming a mile off though. Also I assume Iroh n Bumi will be making bigger appearances. Given the whole fleet n such existing n them popping back to South Pole I'm hoping Book 2 might have Team Avatar Mk II go on global adventures. And more spirit world goodness. Bit of 80-years later Ba Sing Se, how Fire Nation were under Zuko, the growth of the water tribes, if anything happened with the Air Temples. Son of Combustion Man. Who is Lins dad? Who did Sokka end up with? Where is Zukos mum? What's in the hatch? What's Airs secondary power? Who shot JR?
  6. Not that Steam is all perfect either mind. They need a serious revamp of the store site atm. Especially since the client can't open multi-tabs so using the steam storefront is horrible since you end up a fair ways into a list of games, click an interesting one to have a look, go back and you're at the top of the list again. (and many other minor issues, though the "set your own icons" update recently was nice fix to one issue I had had for some time now.
  7. Is he comparing Origin to the recently failed IPO of Facebook that's currently dragging everything around it down with it? Also talking of social networks, that's the main thing Origin is still lacking is the whole social side of things. A friends list is something any simple IM client can do. But with Steam you can go "oh hey, friend X is playing L4D2" *right clicks, joins in*. But despite requiring Origin no game seems to offer that functionality yet. There's no reason to have Origin open other than to play games tied to the service. But Steam there's the community stuff to see what games folks have recently picked up, how far along they are, any neat screenshots. And then to hop in a group chat n use that. Origin has none of that. Oh and the "are we regional or are we not" thing should really be resolved ASAP. Fucking sucks that the simple task of sharing URLs with other people just won't work if the recipient isn't in the same country as you. Being kicked back to the Origin homepage just makes me lose interest in whatever was being linked and close the tab. Having deals that are either exclusive to a country, is stupid. Even more stupid when they ave deals that are for the website or for the client. Steam, except on some very rare occasions, has a deal, it's regardless of using the client, website, mobile site/app or regardless of country too. One link works for all platforms and countries too. eg: Kingdoms of Amalur: Origin Steam It's just pathetic to be boasting when there's still fundamental issues with the client and service.
  8. hehe. The Cakebender. (I'm still downloading it, but have being tempting fate on the TLA sub-reddit)
  9. How many folks view the forum sub-forum by sub-forum compared to using the "New Content" tab up top?

      Chewblaha

I go to the subforum itself.

    3. RockyRan

      RockyRan

Never knew of any of this. I should probably spend some more time getting acquainted with the forum <_<

    4. TheFlyingGerbil

      TheFlyingGerbil

in new content tab there is an arrow to the right of each thread. It loads the last comment inline (ie it stays on the new content tab) and then below that is "mark as read" option.

  10. How a McDonalds marketing burger is made.
  11. Oh yeah Relic RTS titles are pretty neat. Nice titles to play without the Blizzard bother. Though Dawn of War 2 (but not the expansions) is GFWL. Latest expansion is Steamworks. Oh and I forgot to add: Buy a wired 360 controller. Can be had on Play for like £15 (maybe cheaper if you deal hunt). Yes kb/m is the definitive input of PC titles, but not so much for many multi-plat titles(and stuff like Jamestown that you might want ot do in co-op). Pretty damn good purchase all around.
  12. *Goes into FDS mode* But they are the middlemen. e.g (and I'm not recommending this but others might) Legend of Grimrock can be bought on GOG, Steam or their own site. I assume you mean you don't want ot be bothering buying something off Amazon that you just end up sticking the code in Steam n downloading off their anyway? I think cutting out other sites is a bit silly cos yuou'll frequently find great offers be it on Amazon(kinda rare though) or Greenmangaming(fairly common). FFFUUUU. As I finish typing "1 post has been posted" n it's P4 saying same thing. As you've got no Raptr or similar listed no idea what you're into so I guess I'll just throw stuff out into open: (Oh and all of this is with a "unless it's on sale now, don't buy it cos the Steam sale starts in a few days) Orange Box..maybe. I'm not sure on the value now given TF2 is now free n I think Portal get's handed out like free candy. But pretty much most Valve Source titles are pretty nifty. Though skip L4D1 for L4D2 if you're doing that. It's an MP game so the sequel fares better. Skyrim: "Better with PC". Steam Workshop, mods, higher res textures(though tbh kinda shit), UI customisations for all the quirks etc. And farily decent n high bang to buck game. Defence Grid: Nice Tower Defence game, has a free "Borderlands" (name only, not related to the Gearbox title) expansion included, and a bunch of cheap enough level packs to bolster it up. It's one of my most played games on Steam. Fallout New Vegas: My GOTY when it came out. Nice atmosphere, nice range of weaponry and the faction stuff makes it a lot neater to play than FO3. Like Skyrim (pretty much same engine) has a bunch of mods, though not through SteamWorkshop. Sins of a Solar Empire: Very neat 4X space RTS. If just to scroll all the way in and out. Same engine in Elemental which looked even prettier to zoom in n out but was unfortunately a pile of wank. You can get the trilogy for cheap fairly often and an expandalone is coming out soon. You control fleets of space ships, put bounties on each other, research new weapons, out culture everyone etc. It's also fairly long. ARMA 2/Day Z: I've yet to play it but it seems to be sweeping the net by storm, so that may be worth getting into. Day Z is a mod though. Dragon Age Origins(ultimate): Still not finished it yet, but love it. Very PC game, don't quite understand how well it translates to console but others have said it's fine enough. Frozen Synapse: I'd ask around on this one cos it comes with two copies of the game so someone may be up for going halfsies. Turn based tactical top down shooter thingy. I think there's a demo. Nifty tunes, nifty gameplay and multiplayer that doesn't require both sides to be on at the same time. Killing Floor: The rather decent and rather British alternative to Left4Dead. Unlike L4D which has you going from A to B Killing Floor is wave based. Few more players at once too. Great christmas game to play too. I second a bunch of other titles already listed too. btw for those of us with our Steam ID listed you can click to get to our profiles and check our recommended titles from there. Also since you're British a bit more relevant cheapy games (Though it covers other platforms too it's mostly PC): http://savygamer.co.uk/ (There's a twitter link up top if you're into that stuff and he said about a revamp to the site coming soon.)
  13. I disagree. My first playthrough was a pirated copy to taste n turns out that was Augmented edition so had the extra stuff. That silenced sniper rifle n the explosives are pretty neat to have.
  14. It's an ubisoft game, to be expected really.
  15. ...could always buy another of the Dells...
  16. Wow for $10 those are much better specs than I was expecting Not absolutely fantastic specs, but pretty good rigs to stick Linux on n mess about with as media streamer n what not. Unsure on how well they'd do Minecraft mind, like as a server, or if it'd work with Linux. I assume so, it's only Java.
  17. Question: Is this just audio interview or is youtube jsut not running right on my netbook? Also fuck off! RED GREEN AND BLUE. Closure was only part of it.
  18. Is it me or do Cameron, Clegg and Milliband all kinda look the same. Not that you'd be unable to tell them apart but they're fairly similar age n looks n style n all that. Say what you will about Brown, Kennedy n Howard they at least looked different. I loved todays episode of Simpsons was the one where Krusty get's done for tax avoidance And blurb was in the paper printed for last Tuesday too. I will agree you have to know you're doing something generally considered fairly wrong, even if legal, if you're reducing your tax rate down to 3%.
  19. http://store.steampowered.com/sub/15147/ Deus Ex series (So Deus Ex, Invsible War n Human Revolution, and DLC) for £10. Not to be snuffed at. Even if just for DXHR n DLC.
  20. Holy crap Nintendo. There's cutting game content, and there's cutting out the damn power cable. So I guess this means anyone looking to trade in a DSi XL or 3DS to move to a 3DS XL is SOL.
  21. WoL? (I can only think of Wrath of Lich King, and I'm sure that's WOLK and has zero offline mode)
  22. LEt's change that to actual first world problems. CCJs.

  23. I got mine for £3 . It was on sale n I had £20 in Amazon vouchers. Which cheaper one did you want cos of the Sidewinder range atm the X4 is the low end one with the X5 being the higher end keyboard.
  24. The worst trope of them all. @MisterJack: "Ellie" in The Last of Us both looked, sounded and had a similar name to Ellen Page, so while it was never confirmed (or denied from what I remember) it was assumed by most that it was Ellen Page. Since she's actually in Beyond it seems that Ellie has had a bit of a tweak (making her look a bit less like Ellen Page than before) between announce n latest E3 media most likely to avoid people thinking Ellen Page is in both. The most important of those people being Ellen Pages lawyers.
