  1. Well I'd prefer to gift it to a forum member first n foremost. But if no takers crop up.

I'm generally fine with the selection offered on the Sony side of things. Maybe when gamers are "and what else?" it's "and maybe something more than a new Mario?". When folks pick up a new console they're maybe wanting a bit more than what they had on the last one?
  3. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.dsandler.apps.markers New doodling app from a Googler. Very nice n kid friendly. Both in having no adverts(can cause issues when they click on em) and all the options by clicking the icon in the corner, nice n simple to change pen n such.
  4. Copy of Torchlight to a good home. Came free with Torchlight II Connorr got me but I have it already.
  5. I think Thursdays suggestion was a bit of a "what-if" regardless of the logistics of it all. Just not making games is something that'd never happen in reality.
  6. And? Plenty games posted on with their own threads that only have a few players. Gravity Rush seems to have been quite popular.

http://www.gamesindustry.biz/articles/2012-06-25-nintendo-gaming-community-is-insatiable-gamers-never-satisfied Apparently gamers are never satisfied with Nintendo. Dunno why...
  8. You guys know you don't have to put all the PS Vita games into one thread right?

I'm confused too. Terry Gilliams Brazil is the only Brazil I'm interested in and it's not really something I've being googling of late. Most of the time it has been the Battlestar Galactica game.
  10. See which is it reliant on. I can't see a firebender couple having an airbender child, but there is a fair bit pointing to bending not being in the genes but in "the spirit". Which would be in the way bending is removed and also that two benders can have a non-bending child(and one of those benders being the avatar). I guess it's something they've not thought on too much, just thinking it'd be neat to have waterbender-airbender couple have a waterbender, non-bender and an airbender just to have a nice balance.
  11. Well it's shorthand for "motorised bicylce" you see. It saves time to shrink it to motorbike, even more than shrinking it down to bike which leaves ambiguity without a fair chunk of context around it. Riding a bike to work is...which one?
  12. Is it new when someone responds to their status post that it says "responded to their status update" instead of say "Atmosk responded to Atomsks Status update"

Eh, I don't know... I didn't even realize we had notifications for status updates.

You may have turned it off in your profile. There's a setting with a bunch of things you can be notified for, either via the site or emailed n such.

  13. I'd say an internal consistency. Be it the cutscenes/FMVs and the gameplay matching in quality n art style(can't thin kof many where that's not the case mind), and gamepaly elements working "as they should". NPCs not reacting properly or cars sliding through buildings then jerking about up n down the building as the door and brickwork try to work out which is which. Everything just works nicely together, there's no major hiccups n glitches. IT'd be like if you had FFXIII in all it's swish n snazz, and then you get the old style side by side ATB type FF battle system. You'd be like "something is up". Maybe not able to put your finger on it but you know in the back of your mind "there is something wrong with this game." One of the greatest games I find for "immersion" is Uplink, kinda old and given it's set in 2010 does have optimistic computer specs. But you start the game by logging on, and get missions through a BBS (And there used to be IRC built in too). It's very "hollywood real". The whole coconut hoofbeats type realism. The games that make a habit of going "I am a game, lolol" also drop immersion a fair bit, and tend to be a bit pathetic. There's also the immersion of "sucks you in", so yeah you know you're playing a game, but the game is all that matters. And Minecraft is very good at doing that. Oh and Heavy Rain would be a bad one. The control scheme, if you could call it that, changes around frequently, so you're constantly looking around the gameworld for which control you're meant to be doing and it can be hard to hit a nice flow and fade into the game.
  14. There's a fair few that aren't okay with it. And there's also a fair few moving on from consoles who for them Diablo III or what not being $60 is no different to the prices they paid on consoles. Also there's not "myth". The prices of PC games are/were reduced because there's no license fees to be paying. Further compounded recently with most games being digital so no logistics costs either of shipping, stocking, paying sales staff, the percentage set aside for returns etc and always having as many copies as you need (or less occasionally, but it's rare CD-keys run out). While some titles like COD n such hit the $60 section many on the other end of the spectrum are a fair bit less. For example comapred to DIII for $60 you can get 4 copies for TII for $60 too.
  15. This is a pretty well done TLA/LOK family tree. Also http://penny-arcade.com/comic/2012/06/25
  16. £35 on what? Civ V isn't £35 and Sim City V has no demo sooo....
  17. Huh. As recent as E3 they've being talking as if it's all integrated online stuff a la Diablo II styley.
  18. So just something that popped in my mind earlier. Quite a few times when talking about "bikes" I've had Americans enquire if I mean "motorbike/motorcycle". Is it common to refer to motorbikes as just "bikes"? Over here a bike is the thing with two pedals, descendant of the penny farthing n all that.
  19. Yeah I've not bought new games for a while. A year long gaming break would be pretty neat. Get to catch up on the backlog, sites get to spend a bit of time writing up some more on the classics instead of pumping out the latest marketing materials. Pretty much only ones hurt would be the content producers. Not like last years games all stop working(well..) or get any worse.
  20. Also knock the difficulty level down too. That way only certain systems are required. I think on the lowest setting you could probably just make the first city hit "new turn" over n over n still win. What parts you feeling out of your depth on. btw we do have both a Civilization (As in the franchise) and a specifric Civ V thread. So could expand some more there on help n tactics. As for Sim City 4 n V, 4 is cheap and still works, though is getting on a bit atm (9 years old). Sim City V is looking shiny, though will cost as much as a new game costs and the always-online DRM can cause hiccups for games. But it also has multiplayer too.
  21. lgmtfy is such a lazy response. Which'd be why it's also banned from the sub-reddit I run. And yeah not leaving a solution also sucks which is why we have a way of marking "Answered" posts.
  22. Depends on the model. If it's just an LCD it'll display winamp playlist, or IRC chat, or score in a game or something. If it's the fll colour (which it doesn't look like) then he can watch videos mid-game.

Sometimes they're a bit silly. They're also local/personalised so not all of us get the same. For todays advert I get a calling to Brazil Brasil...Braszil.
