  1. Okay I've not yet replied to this and been meaning too. It's late though so nothing too in-depth, that'll be later. @Flaying Gerbil: From my understanding that is correct. While applying the hack to your own consoles is fine, it's the initial reverse engineering and cracking that is not. Which I think should maybe be clarified a bit here. If Sony win this case it won't suddenly mean a raid unit will be crashing through your front door and you get 10 years in guantanamo for hacking your console. Will mean a pretty tough time for Geohot and similar. And I think that's perfectly reasonable. No one is impeding on your rights to fuck about with the hardware you bought, but companies should also have some guarantee the law is there to back them up in protecting their intellectual property, patents and products. It wouldn't jsut be console makers who'd be wary of trading in a country where the law is fine with folks bypassing your devices security measures. It's kinda how the law says you can't sell fags to kids, but there's no law that says they can't smoke them.
  2. http://www.teamfortress.com/communitymappack/ New maps. Frontier's cart looks fucking awesome.
  3. the 6969 link isn't bad, its just completely oversexualised for a game thats 12+ ....I'm surprised there isn't backlash against Ubi for this already. 'WII GAME ENCOURAGES UNPROTECTED SEX AMONG 12 YEAR OLDS' the daily fail would read I'd say it's cos the games media are only just getting their hands on it today. The regular press will pick up on it by the end of tomorrow.
  4. Oh okies then. (Been meaning to expand my thoughts anyway, was discussing it this afternoon on Skype, so had my thoughts fleshed out) I've already mentioned the UI. Maybe I'm old fashioned but I think a High Fantasy game should have a High Fantasy UI. Wooden engravings, mahogany red outlines, splashes of gold. The current stuff is very...computery/app like. It's slick n clean and I'd welcome elsewhere but feels very out of place. I'd say my biggest stickler is the convo wheel. Of all the things "dumbed down" could be applied to the convo wheel is the elephant in the room. Acquiring the Mass Effect "I'm a retard who doesn't want to think on these or read anything". They may as well just made the options, for all conversations, just say Good/Bad/Sarcastic. Not like you'll lose any context since what the convo choice says and the words that now come out of your voice characters mouth don't match. At least when nothing was spoken the entire convo choice was written out so what you chose and what your dude said were exactly the same. No sudden surprises at the shorthand version being iffy. Combat... I stopped on the demo (I'll get back to it again) because of the lack of overhead view. Primarily because I completely forgot I had other guys in my party. Because I couldn't see any of them. It felt more like I was aiding guest NPC's than controlling a party. Also the new interface meant I never fully discovered what "Brain Power" (my name) was all about. Also starting the game with a mage with no powers? Big huge no no. Also from my understanding the demo is the start of the game. Shittest tutorial ever. It had pretty much nothing in it tutorial wise. I only got the hang of most things because I'd played the first and it wasn't too dissimilar. But there was still a fair few things I was unsure of. Also blocking off the inventory screen for even Hawke does not breed confidence. Overall I'll wait on DAII: Ultimate edition in the Steam sales. I don't feel like I'm missing on much and when I get round to being able to play Witcher 2 will be out and that doesn't treat you like a baby. Respects the players abilities.
  5. Oh god I didn't click on any of those... I don't want to click on anymore.
  6. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bxd96qRa6wY This is a game on a console aimed squarely at kids and pensioners. What were Ubisoft thinking? How many kids will come down the next day to play Wii Sports and find the remote carries on slipping out of their hands. Did I mention it's rated PEGI 12? (Turns out it's on PS3 so moving this thread now Not that PS3 is even better. What with that suggestive Move controller shape)
  7. Get Oblivion when it's next on Steam sale. I got the whole thing for £12 on first steam launch, but I reckon it'll hit a cheaper point some point with Skyrim coming out.
  8. Am I really being that subtle? First Ethan now MasterDex. Unless it turns out you really had been drinking as the Irish stereotype suggest (sweeping generalisations)
  9. http://www.networkwo...6-netscape.html IE6 and Netscape on the modern web. I think IE6 is a bit unfair since that's still around enough that sites are still built for it. IE5 at least.
  10. Not sure if you meant this to be part of the joke or not. You missed the "your" too. And the sweeping generalisations (though that didn't come in until the post directly after)
  11. I'm not always agreeing with his style but the stuff he covers, specifically here http://gamejournos.com/tagged/not_shit_journalism , is pretty good to keep track on and keep yourself in check. 1. Cover games. If you're having to think more than a split second on how it's VG related, don't write it. 2. Stop n think a bit if it looks like you're marketing the game. If the words "this game looks kick ass and you should all buy it" or similar leave your virtual lips, the A1 is that way. 3. Fuck publisher relations, ask awkward questions. 4. Write about what interests you(rule #1 at PXOD). If you don't care you don't put heart into it and it comes across to the reader. If the writer doesn't care for what they're writing, why should the readers? 5. Reply to comments, engage with the readership. Don't respond to trolls. 6. The rest of the rules are after the jump 7. WHAT FUCKING JUMP IT'S A WEBSITE!?!?!?! 8. Yeah don't do rule 6. 9. Make sure fact and opinion are obviously differentiated (start stuff with "I think" "I hope" "In my opinion" etc) 10. Do what feels right.
  12. http://www.rockpaper...railer-verdict/ And RPS even have their own trailer: http://www.youtubedoubler.com/?video1=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.youtube.com%2Fwatch%3Fv%3DmDUWsrglNzE&start1=0&video2=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.youtube.com%2Fwatch%3Fv%3DZm8xIo_2Aok&start2=0&authorName=Elder+Mashed
  13. Yeah but we are elitist douchebags, and console gamers... you can see where the stereotype comes from. Also put the bottle down a bit there. Getting a bit aggressive at the end.
  14. Man your all a bunch of ninnies. You should of woke up on the right side of the bed.

I'm guessing it's gonna be PC, not Multi-Platform.

But do I add it to the Dr Who thread in EE, or make it's own thread in a gaming forum. The Dr Who games notable enough to have their own thread, out in the wild away from the mother thread? (I could just throw it in current thread n split it off if the game turns out to be okay)

  15. It looks more random/structured. Like Oblivion was very much like the towns n hamlets n caves were arrangements of House_1, House_2, Fountain etc. This looks to be a fair few landmark pieces, manufactured views n such. Things normally part of a linear game.
  16. It's about a business man who tries to shoot some buildings.
  17. We won't have the plot on the front cover for one.
  18. Yeah I saw you n Dex had picked that up. My Community tab wanted me to be well aware that day
  19. Am I the only one who hates the "Am I the only one?" comments?
  20. I wonder what the EU boxart will be.
  21. the V's The finger. One being plural should give it away. You guys won't use the V's because you guys don't have any history of killing French archers
  22. Yeah I think stars for photo winners is iffy. I think they just got bored with handing them out in any particular fashion. And since a decent chunk of active star base kinda gave em the V's last summer they wanted a quick n easy way to fill it out. Also folks with stars I'd imagine tend to stick around. I dunno. Star system in theory = good idea Star system in practice = terrible.
