  1. Nah I'm with StrangeLove, guy is also being an ass. I'm not for either of them. Recent legislation suggests Sony will probably lose (in fact old legislation would mean they'd lose over here before they even go into the court room), thing is the guy is being a dick. As some of the comments say he's not hacking the PS3 for some statement on owning products n open platforms n what not. Just doing it to get his face plastered out over the net. He got his taste of attention with the iPhone (which there's doubts he even did much with that) and the PS3 has let him maintain that 15 minutes of fame.
  2. I'm on my first. A 40GB that came with GT5 n GTAIV. I upgraded it a couple months in to a 320GB. I think it's about 3 years old now, I got it for myself with leftover bursary cash from 1st year. Also ended up getting a TV/2nd monitor too since it didn't work with my then monitor.
  3. To properly clarify: Dean took it as Faibllesse asking why they might be a "hell of a crew". Then linking the Bio page where they've quite handily included past sites they've worked on allowing anyone to go to these sites and check up on their work to potentially see where they might be a hell of a crew. Then Faiblesse when to his usual self. Where I decided to act in kind. Then to top it all off Brain then audaciously claims himself neutral to the whole deal when he was the one who started it.
  4. You should check R's posting history. I don't think he much cares for OSX either.
  5. Hah. Was just going to ask yesterday where you'd gone. (I was digging back on old PC topics) Well gone on, show us some of your GNOME/KDE ways.

  7. Yeah MoH was one of the games I grabbed n played last year. I was curious to any difference n similarities it'd have to CoD, and while it was very short I'd recommend it over CoD for campaign. Played neither(except COD4) for MP, so not sure how it scales on that. The issue would be most folks go for MP over campaign. What's weird is I pirated MoH (first n only I've played all the way through. I'm still figuring how to make up for it. I ain't buying the game though), and Mirrors Edge I played legit (at the time there was no way for PS3's to play pirated games anyway) and it's MoH that gets a sequel n ME that gets semi-canned....
  8. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/newstopics/politics/8335839/Coalition-may-put-clocks-forward-two-hours.html Our current Government is fucking insane. At what point does the UK, specifically Greenwich, being on GMT+1 make any sense? We're meant to be GMT. Full stop. Also scrapping May Day? lolwut!? I'm in favour of more holidays, but scrapping May Day in favour of that. Nope.
  9. Hah. That's how I buy things in general on places like ebuyer n Amazon. As for reviews on games, I tend to ask about for those I know with the game. Your friends aren't on commission, if it's a shit game they'll lay it out bare for you, if it's good you'll rarely have to even ask what it's like.
  10. See Peter gets it. If you want to know why Tycho/jerry (You guys prefer comic names or IRL names?) thinks they're a hell of a crew, you can ask him, they're pretty easy to contact. If you just want to dig for yourself the Bios are an excellent starting point for anyone who is capable of a little research, it drops a fair few sites names where you could go track down their old work. I dunno, maybe it's cos I'm still at uni and it's pretty much second nature to go digging, but I'd of thought it'd be the more obvious thing to do.
  11. http://www.scribd.co...Who-BBC-AMERICA Doctor Who Swimsuit Calender. Also I'm trying to look about for Series 6 air dates, but can't find any. There's rumours it starts 6th April, coinciding with the release of the Doctor Who mag in the US. But seems a bit flimsy if you ask me.
  12. Yeah I don't think you'll see any of that around here *snicker*
  13. I don't know. Ask Jerry Holkins. Here ask: http://twitter.com/#!/tychobrahe Brain just supplied the quote and link, he didn't personally suggest them, just passed on PA's recommendation. We tried to accommodate your insatiable queries but I think you're jsut going to have to go to the source if you want your answer cos I don't think anyone else is going to be able to provide you with your answers. tl;dr don't shoot the messenger.
  14. The issue with the sitemeter thing is they disabled it (Can't imagine why....). They yanked all the code to allow Sitemeter to track it. Hence the drop in hits on it. However, despite a few days lag, Alexa still tracks it fine: http://www.alexa.com/siteinfo/kotaku.com Seems it's stabilised at that, going through it's usual up n down. It's a 50-60% drop. I think they're hardest hit in the fluff articles. Since it's now just headline n image. I get uk.kotaku.com when visiting so I'm unsure what the frontpage stories are, but I'd wager the ones showing with high hits are the front page stories. (also now forcing over to the new site I see it no longer shows page hits even on the "Blog Roll" view. That used to be the Gawkers little thing, they'd openly gloat on each story how many hits it was getting.) "There's a new group blog on gaming called No High Scores that has a hell of a crew behind it" There, easy to read n gets right to the meat on why you'd want to read it. And thats where I'm leaving it cos you've jumped from asking who the writers are, to then wanting something "more personal" than a bio, to Facebook (pretty personal) missing the point, the bio has too much info, to you wanting something simple. You either want to know who they are or you don't. Or you could skip that step entirely n just read the articles. I dunno.
  15. So when you say it's full of info you don't care about, what info are you wanting to know? Name, Gaming Habits, Resume of sorts. Pretty much all I care on and they've pretty much covered it. But you don't care for that apparently. So yeah, back to first question, what info do you want to know that their Bio doesn't have? I may of missed the point because you've yet to define it.
  16. Well I will point out we have the Smoovesonian. Maybe not an intuitive name for first time visitors I guess but it's like hospital wings. He paid for it, he named it. http://board.pressxordie.com/gallery/
  17. http://www.facebook.com/people/Brandon-Cackowski-Schnell/100000539299239 How personal you wanting to go? The bio is a bio, it kind of gives you all you should need to know, gaming habits, old sites they've written for. What information exactly do you wish to know about VG writers? Their kids names, schools, holiday retreat, home address? Since we're on the topic and in the Fucking Kotaku thread I will point out there's only so much your readers need to know about you, and it's extremely creepy to post pictures n growing up tales of your kids on a VG site millions read. Keep it to Facebook for family n friends.
  18. Up to 10,000. Unless you're saying as in that's the top limit. Which it kind of is. Also it turns out I lied, it's only up to 8,000 at the moment. Seems the 10,000 rank hasn't been added yet. As it stands we have used 18 of the 100 "pips", so there can be some wiggle room on reducing the current gap between ranks at later levels.
  19. For the "clicking the About button" challenged: http://nohighscores.com/node/4 That would be the "hell of a crew".
  20. Not really, since IE9 just puts the Address bar and tabs on the same level. By the looks of it this would combine the address bar into the Tab itself. Does net it half the vertical space of Chromes taskbar(and shy of a third of FF3's), though at the expense of bookmarks/favourites bar. Anyway since posting that link I've been pointed to the now relatively old: http://dev.chromium....ience/window-ui Thats right, that blog is running BS. The images it's going off for Chromes supposed changes is actually for ChromeOS, which would explain the touchscreen friendly view(Since 'til Honeycomb ChromeOS was potentially coming to tablets.) Also why they can got a kind of mixed fullscreen look with the side tabs, cos on Windows in Chrome you'd have the min/max/close buttons in the way still. But with ChromeOS you have none of those since it's their own OS to do with what they please.
  21. Man. Reminiscing on old ICT lessons. Frontpage. They don't even make that shit anymore. http://www.wowwebdesigns.com/tools/screenshots/microsoft_frontpage.gif

    1. Faiblesse Des Sens

      Faiblesse Des Sens

Oh god I remember using Frontpage.

  22. We currently have ranks all the way up to 10,000. The rate at which you gain new ranks slows down over time though, mostly because there's a limit of 100 ranks. So if we did them every 50 then it'd be burnt out by 5,000 posts. Which some of you guys can reach in the space of months. We can maybe see about re-jigging stuff.
  23. I was gonna stick this on the news feed but it's both broken on RSS (Sterling needs to learn to add in the "more>>" on his stuff) and I thought it's a topic worth expanding on: http://www.destructoid.com/allegations-sleaze-treachery-a-tale-of-two-worlds-194521.phtml Basically the guys with Two Worlds II are supposedly fucking over any publication that dare to give it less than a 70% score. (I say "supposedly" cos I take Sterlings stuff with a pinch of salt. It's all "anonymous source this, anonymous source that") Eidos have been known to do it in the past, though I've not heard much on them since they got taken over by Square Enix. Last I heard they did the whole no-embargo for good scores thing on Batman, which many folks were surprised with since Batman got rave reviews. Then there was the old Kane n Lynch n Gertsmangate stuff. So what are your thoughts on the matter?
  24. For anyone with an eye on 3D here's some free tools: Landscape: Terragen It's an oldey but a goody. It's actually in 2D, but uses depth maps, so pretty easy to pick up n play with. http://www.planetsid...ent/view/16/28/ Bryce Named after the canyon. I've not used since version 5, so no idea what it's like now http://www.daz3d.com...ware/bryce7/-/? It also has some basic 3D modelling and Planet making. I'd recommend this over Terragen. It also uses the same kind of 2D depth map designs for making stuff, but it has a 3D model view and some great particle n texturing tools. Fuck it I'm gonna go grab it now n play with it again, I used to love it. Regular modelling: Daz3D http://www.daz3d.com...az_studio3?_m=d I never used it much, it came with Bryce back in the day. As far as I could figure out it was mostly for manipulating these stock models you could get off their site for free or paid, that are made with other programs. I guess it might be "your kind of thing" for some of you. Dunno. There's a lot of anime-like models. Blender http://www.blender.org/ This is the big one in free 3D software. I've not used it myself but I've heard it's very competent. It won't be anywhere near as simple as the others, but it's also big enough there should be plenty of tutorials, it'll also be much more flexible. Google Sketch-up http://sketchup.google.com/ This should maybe go in the top section. It's more for making regular things. Inorganic modelling. Mostly buildings, which means it has Google Earth support, you can model the building and add it in 3D to the Google Earth database to pop up when folks visit. I guess it's good for home planning if you're rearranging rooms or new garden. Bonus points if someone can tell me why this is important/famous:
  25. Heh. I slipped in an article relating to that on the News Feed. Apple. Tree. Not falling far.
