  1. I prefer it when I don't have to read the manual. Why couldn't they have included a training portion when you're sitting at camp at the beginning of the game? It would make sense story-wise, as you're preparing to battle alongside King Foltest. Also, I hated STALKER.
  2. I heard the same thing applies for the Wal-Mart preorder case.
  3. Wait, activates it where? Is this a PC thing? Man, I hope it's for consoles too because I cannot run modern releases on my PC. It's all about my graphics card. If I remember correctly, they also ported the original to consoles specifically for this release. http://www.joystiq.com/2011/04/20/alice-madness-returns-online-pass-grants-you-alice-1-10-ot/ Yep! It'll be the only way to get the first game on consoles, too.
  4. I want a wrestling game that focuses on the act and showmanship of it all. Instead of trying to actually hit someone, you would use the dialog system in Alpha Protocol to try and make a decent intimidation speech. Before a match, your employers instruct you on exactly how the match should play out, and if you deviate from their plan at all, you take penalties from a few points off to a Game Over (You're fired!). During the actual match, you have to focus on making it look convincing, and perform your moves to the letter without ever really hitting your opponent. You work on your charm if you're a "good" guy, earning fans. If you're a "bad" guy, you'll want to earn as many enemies as possible. At the end of a season, your employers evaluate your performance compared to the rest of the wrestlers, and the worst-performing wrestlers get written out of the show.
  5. Ocarina of Time. I hated Majora's Mask. I loathe time limits from the bottom of my heart, and any game that tries to make me conform to a strict schedule can sod off.
  6. Alice: Madness Returns is doing it right. Their online pass will activate a copy of the original game! That practically guarantees I'll be buying it new.
  7. They let you in there after you do some other things in the game.
  8. So... how did The Witcher 2 get an M, when it clearly deserved an AO? I mean, the sex scenes in this game are practically porn.
  9. That movie was awesome. Other than Avatar, I'd say it's the best-looking film I've seen. I also enjoyed the action and plot.
  10. I'm no betting man, but I'd say it's pretty safe to assume that OnLive will announce or roll out the "exclusive" titles they promised last year. I'm sort of anticipating what they can pull out of their hat. As the newest kid on the block with a unique business model, I'm more interested in seeing what they will do than any other company.
  11. Yeah, Liam Neeson really fires on all cylinders in that movie.
  12. Does anyone find it weird that Chell looks like she's wearing makeup in Portal 2?
  13. If I lost as many important memories as Geralt did, I would just "Memento" myself and ink in hundreds of reminder messages.
  14. That's exactly the case me and my mother had trouble figuring out earlier this evening.
  15. I'm a fan of Geoffery Rush, and it seemed like he was having fun with the role, but something about his performance bothered me in this one. He did this thing with his eyes every time he appeared on screen where he would bug them out for a good, long time, and then they would be almost shut in an airtight squint. And this is the last great appearance of Captain Jack Sparrow...
  16. I think the main problems I had with the ending (spoiler free) were: A: It made the game feel like it was cut off halfway through. Like there was some sort of final act missing. B: There are multiple threads that are unceremoniously abandoned. It's almost like when a TV show pulls a ret-con, removing a character or a question they had previously used to bait viewers to continue watching. C: I felt like the effects of my choices were subdued heavily. It's not like the first game, where you really get some time to soak in the mistake/fortunate deed you made. It's pretty much "Well, you made this choice, and this is what happened. I'd love to stick and chat, but I've got somewhere better to be."
  17. What I really want to know is what the fuck they were on about when they talked about 16 endings. I'm not even sure if that is possible with the game. But they're giving out that "16 endings" shirt to the first person who accomplishes it, so who knows?
  18. Have you been playing with a controller? I've been exclusively using my 360 gamepad, and combat has worked wonderfully for me.
  19. Let me put it this way; if your boss isn't chewing the loving shit out of you, you probably did it right. No, there's at least one case where no matter which guy you charge your boss is happy as long as you've got evidence to back it up. If hottie's thinking of the same case as me, I was only about 60% sure I charged the right guy. That's the thing. He moaned at me about not being 'swift' and I thought it was more to do with me not charging who he (and Rusty) wanted charged. It's just the evidence could go either way...but one seemed more likely for it. And the game doesn't let you fact check even further after those interviews (not as in revisiting old scenes but following any new leads) You can hit "Start" and re-read their statements under the "Log" option.

  21. Wait...the game goes in and changes the difficulty on you?
  22. Bear in mind that I haven't played Dragon Age II, but from what people have told me of it, it seems like The Witcher 2 is what Dragon Age II should have been shooting for. It made the combat more action-oriented and streamlined some of the tedious bits, without sacrificing the depth and complexity of the game. I should also say that I've been playing this game entirely on a 360 controller. The combat like a perfect fit for the gamepad. Wow, PC Gamer really didn't like the ending. It says that it's one of the only two things that kept the game from being the best RPG ever made.
