I just think the FPS/sport/Nintendo is for kids market is by far the largest segment, certainly the one that spends most overall, if not as much as per 'enthusiast gamer' individually. It is certainly the target market when companies are talking about the core gamer. Perhaps mainstream gamer is a better term than core gamer for these people. I don;t think they will come to nintendo in any big way with the Wii U With regard to the enthusiast market, I think there are the people who will buy a nintendo console at/near launch regardless(me!) and others who will keep an eye on it without writing it off out of hand the way the core/mainstream gamers will. So for the enthusiast market the best nintendo can do is convince them to buy the console sooner rather than later. I don't think they've managed that with what they've announced so far. I think mainstream gamers won't come until the console after Wii U at earliest/ if at all and the way to achieve that is to get the undecided enthusiasts on board with the Wii U ASAP which will hopefully encourage third parties to properly support it not just with great games, but with great games that are on the other systems. They need to be able to see the games they like are available on a nintendo console. Then when the next cycle comes around they need to have power parity with the other consoles. I don't know now if that's possible with the releases out of sync though.

Just in time for pokemon black 2.

I have to disagree with that - the core crowd never considered mario galaxy a core game because it is not an fps/cover shooter and as much as many people liked pikmin I don't think it's a system seller to the mainstream market. I genuinely don't believe anyone but Nintendo fans and casuals will buy a Nintendo console for the foreseeable future and I don't know what they can do to change that. People who play sports games and COD will move on to PS4/nextbox possibly from one brand to the other, but it is indelibly in their minds that NIntendo is a "kiddy console" and would not even enter their consideration. With Zelda they haven't even got to the conceptualisation stage yet they are still thinking what sort of game they want it to be, with regard to the balance between depth and accessibility. I'd say it's at least three probably more like 4 or 5 years. away.

I actually made a whole post about that this afternoon but deleted it. But since you ask... The one in the yellow t-shirt has long hair, which is TV/film shorthand for pothead, so I'm guessing that's Neil and instead of being flat out dumb as spanners he's going to be coming out with the dopey/airheaded comments of a TV stoner. That leaves the other one as Jay. He pretends to be a hit with the ladies but isn't which would fit in with him being overweight so he's overcompensating for that.

I wonder how the auto colouring of the greyscale games ended up looking? Was it ever anything other than an ugly mess?
-
I know this is a load of baloney, but I feel like the PS3 was built by gamers/engineering department and then sent off to marketing to try and sell the hot mess they came up with. But the 360 was dreamed up by a marketing department and then sent down into the bowels of the company to be created by the underlings. I think the Wii was probably made by your mad uncle. What I do know though, is I don't feel emotionally attached to any company in any field, but then I don't have attachments to sports teams/bands/directors either so I guess I just don't have that sort of personality. Either way, I take any decision any company makes on its own merits.

with regard to the trust thing - it's the stupid PFIs which were a New Labour idea that are a major problem specifically for that trust. £1m a week in interest being paid to private companies. so thats £52m a year of the £60m you mentioned. They were trying to keep up with the current obligations is why they got in such a big hole, just like people with debts they can't keep up with eventually they have to go about restructuring the debts to be able to carry on. PFIs are the biggest con of the last decade and are just one of the reasons the current Government is having to make so many cuts. New Labour despite what they wanted you to believe (and apparently a lot of people still do) were just as bad as old Labour in not having a clue how to balance spending with taxation and consequently left a flaming bag of turd on our doorsteps when they lost power and people are complaining that the coalition have got crap on their shoes, It really gets on my nerves. New Labour on purpose set a load of spending bombs to be set off during the current Government because they new they had no chance in hell of getting back in.

Instead of a telegram from the Queen you get a ticket to Switzerland.

Trusts are set budgets which they should use to buy the basics (staff, cleaning etc) and then with what's left can try to improve their servies. If the trust is overspending so they cannot pay for the necessities, the Government will have to bail them out as obviously they can't let the patients suffer, but the trust shouldn't be in debt if it sticks to its budget. I'm sure they will be problems from time to time where some unforeseen circumstance means a trust goes over budget (e.g building work going over cost) and that would be covered by the Government and that would be that but if a trust frequently cannot stay within its budget that is a sign that the trust is being badly run, and the Government will send in administrators to sort out the problem. That's what's happening here.

Since it's 20% for the eShop anniversary I thought I'd grab it as I doubt it will be reduced again any time soon. I do have the cartridge somewhere but no console to play it on and I don't think I ever managed to finish it. Not that I'm any more likely to now.

What are you listening to now?

Bjork is amazing. Of course it's cool we link to songs on youtube here as she has some great videos for her singles. I have volumen, which is the music videos for her first three albums and I never get tired of watching it. I also finally bought Biophillia recently as I found it really hard to find the album with the bonus tracks. I haven't had a chance to sit down and listen to it properly yet though, and I think with Bjork probably more than any other artist her albums benefit from being listened to as a whole. They're definitely more than just a bunch of singles bunched together. -
we're not talking about you though - there are individuals who are happy, and others who are not happy with everything. In general, gamers are not an easily satisfied bunch. It's not often something is announced and people say "that's great, I'll quietly wait here until it's released' en masse.

He wasn't saying it's just about Nintendo, and anyway, you know he's right.

I haven't listened to my sneaker pimps albums in ages - I'll have to dig them out. They're great. -
Since he's specifically made jokes about rich people and companies avoiding tax, even if he doesn't know tax law, he should have at least said to his accountant don't do anything that will look bad if people ask me what I do with my tax. He does go on Question Time so it's not unreasonable for him to expect to be asked that question.

From what I've read on other sites there is literally nothing in there to charge it. I'm trying to tell myself that it's wrong or lost in translation somewhere, but it doesn't seem to be the case. edit: I just watched the Nintendo Direct and it definitely doesn't come with any sort of charger. I genuinely thought they weren't allowed to do that in the EU. I hope the cradle is cheap. It comes in red, blue and silver though they all have a grey inside, not the white shown in some of the pictures. ~Other news is Fire Emblem and Animal Crossing are delayed until the first half of 2013. ~Nintendo are working on Super Smash Brothers with Namco Bandai, but they only started on it after they finished making Kid Icarus Uprising. ~If you've got Mario tennis Open, there was a QR code in the video (at about 31.30) to get metal mario - the most powerful character in the game. ~There's 20% off some games in the eShop this week (different each week) and next to celebrate its one year anniversary. ~Pokemon Black and White 2 will have 3DS exclusive eShop apps one is a pokedex pro with infor on 600(!) pokemon and the other is pokemon radar which is an AR game that looks a bit like face breakers that allows you to capture pokemon in the real world and put them in B&W 2 , including new forms for the legendary pokemon. ~They're bringing out a pokemon learn to type game that comes with a bluetooth keyboard (I didn't even know 3DS had bluetooth) that will work with any bluetooth device e.g. mobile phones and tablets. just done a quick screencap of the metal mario QR code if anyone is interested. here's the discounts too: From June 22nd until June 28th, the following games will be available at a discount: Pullblox™ Zen Pinball 3D Let's Golf! 3D The Legend of Zelda™: Link's Awakening DX™ Super Mario Land™ From June 28th until July 5th, these titles will be reduced: Dillon's Rolling Western™ Freakyforms™ Your Creations, Alive! Fun! Fun! Minigolf TOUCH! Mighty Switch Force! Super Mario Land™ 2 6 Golden Coins™

Russell Tovey is as camp as a werewolf is going to get but I wouldn't say it's camp like Dr Who, more just the mix of serious and irreverent and the same level of production values. Shame it's not on iPlayer for you to try it out without buying it. Luther was good - but you could get frustrated with the main character at times. He really caused half the mess he was in.

I bet the 3D effect will really benefit from the bigger screen. I'm torn about the extra circle pad - I wouldn't want the extra bulk when most games don't support it but if it was added into the hardware I suppose more games would support it. I get the feeling Nintendo don't really want it though so I doubt it will ever be a necessity. What's up with it not coming with a charger or cradle though? I thought you legally had to supply everything to make an item usable, like watches now all come with batteries and electronics with plugs. Their logic is most people already own a 3DS so don't need another charger?! WTF, it didn't occur to them that once people upgrade they may sell the other one or give it to a relative. Even if it stays in the same house it's not uncommon to want to charge two things at the same time. I literally cannot believe that they're doing that. Nintendo really know how to mess up an announcement.

It had... 4... series I think. Though there is going to be another one. The last series got a little bit silly with it's overarching plot and they seemed to forget to put any episode length plots in so the pacing was a bit off. It was still watchable but I hope they have a bit of a change of direction for the next series. Definitely worth watching though. The tone of it is similar to Dr Who, though it's nothing like that show.
