  1. Thanks that means I won't be missing out on half the game then!Oh ffs edit. also explains why I thought it was short, lol
  2. Does everyone think it's evil to sell your torch? I can't decide but to be honest I think there should only be one torch that's passed along it would solve the selling problem and isn't the whole point that the torch is passed along? I guess the flame is still being passed along but it still doesn't seem quite right. I'd have said I'd never sell mine but didn't one sell for £135k though they're not sure it's a genuine offer. Have to say it sounds ludicrously high.
  3. I finished the main Super Mario 3D Land game with all the star coins. Just trying to work out what the special world is for? I don't want to replay the whole game if it is basically the exact same thing. Quite liked the sparkly tanooki suit as it did make things easier but didn't do it for you like people were complaining about. Didn't have to use it too often though I wish I'd known you get a special star if you didn't resort to it as I would have steered clear. Overall I liked the game a lot though I felt it was a bit short. Probably a lot of people would say it was too easy but it was perfect for me. Edit. Ugh edited to correct one typo and look at the mess it's in now! Remind me not to edit posts on my phone! Right re-edited it
  4. loving your avatar for this convo, elev3n.
  5. that explains why you don't like them. They've changed so much since they first came out. New ones also get to full light practically instantly, rather than half an hour after you actually need them.
  6. Sounds like one of the few pieces of DLC I'd be tempted to buy.
  7. I've had the chorus stuck in my head for about a week. I'm hoping listening to the song will stop me obsessing.
  8. The problem with initiatives like these is that it is generally the earnest parents that will make the effort to go to them and it will probably not reach the people that would benefit most from it. Some of the parenting I see on a daily basis just makes me want to cry. The child isn't happy, the parent isn't happy and there is not a chance in hell it is going to reach its full potential. Something radical needs to be done to break the cycle of parents that have children for the wrong reasons and the culture of treating children like friends which just doesn't breed the authority needed to instil respect in the children. It ends up a right nightmare by the time they get to school and teachers get absolutely no support from the parents these days. Children arrive at school not knowing how to use cutlery and some can't even form sentences. This isn't lack of intelligence it's lack of proper interaction with the parents. Maybe it would help if the classes were mandatory, but I doubt that would be feasible. They also need to be throughout the life of the child. Maybe parents need to be taught how to support the child with the school not fight against it and how to cope with teenage tantrums and the perenial problem of sex information from 5 to 15. It's a lot of skills a parent need and unfortunately I'm not sure enough are willing to put the effort in to learn.
  9. I could probably pull two of those at the same time
  10. i played Lost Winds on the Wii - definitely a good game
  11. even then apparently the 360 version still drops more frames that the ps3 version of xiii-2
  12. two in the same calendar year would be a a more realistic impossible dream
  13. I've never heard of the tv series it's based on and while I know trailers put the best bits in but I think it's kind of scuzzy to misrepresent the type of movie you're making. Having said that, it's worth going to see it, it's enjoyable especially if you know what you're going to see. Mind you you could question my taste as I Just watched The Proposal and enjoyed that too. I think Sandra Bullock is great at comedy, she can do slapstick without it being over the top and ridiculous (Jim Carey take note). God help me but I love me a romantic comedy, plus naked Ryan Reynolds doesn't hurt
  14. they made significant changes to crystal tools after xiii so it worked better with both consoles. for xiii it was optimised for ps3, after that they reworked it to make it more balanced for both consoles, which is why xiii-2 is so similar on both, but xiii was not.
  15. thanks, guys. When I was reading about it they hadn't planned an xbox version of FFXIII so used a PS3 specific/highly optimised engine which is why the 360 version when they decided to make it was not as good. With FFXIII-2 they knew it would be multi format from the start so used a different engine so looks wise the games are basically the same, just with faster load times on the 360. I guess if they're not torturous on the PS3 I may as well get that version. It's only £10 brand new so I guess I'm just being a total skiv hoping for a complete version.
  16. ...what? Sometimes reading subtitles can take me out of the film experience, I guess that may have more of an effect in horror films where a lot of the experience is visual so may be affected with massive white text flashing up on the screen and that you may be reading when an appears on the screen.
  17. I'm playing through XII*I at the moment and am enjoying it enough that I'd like to get XIII-2. With that in mind I have a couple of questions I know you're all dying to answer for me I have the first one on PS3, and I read that if you get 2 for the same system you get some extra bonuses. I like the sound of that but I also read that PS3 load times are around 10 seconds longer than xbox (and that's without even installing it on the 360 HDD) 10 seconds sounds like a hell of a long time to me but it wasn't clear if it was just starting the game up each session which I could live with or if it was every time a new location or something like that loads? Are they load times that awful on PS3 and do the bonus items make up for it? Also, do SE ever do GOTY editions? I'm not in a rush to buy it so wouldn't mind waiting but I can't see any hints one is even on the way. Is the DLC even worth buying/waiting for a GOTY? the standard version is super cheap so I certainly wouldn't be bothered waiting if it's just frilly panty outfits. *edit: possibly as it's my first Final Fantasy game. not that i feel the need tto defend the fact that i like it, lol
  18. I just downgraded to silver a few days ago. Unfortunately I already had my gamertag linked to my raptr account which is a bit of a bummer as I never use it. I deleted it and hopefully the offer will pop up. I may create a new raptr account, dunno though, I usually don't like doing stuff that seems is a bit sketchy. edit: totally didn't read how that works properly. still doesn't look like I'm eligible. Maybe it's US only...
  19. I'm going to start being more harsh about where I put the films I watch. Dark Shadows goes here. I enjoyed it but I'm not going to be rushing out to buy the disc. I thought it was going to be a straight up comedy so was a bit surprised by the... drama may be putting it a bit strong but it was not what I was expecting, like I know he's a vampire, but I didn't expect him to be killing people. I thought the witch was good in it - but I spent the whole film wracking my brain who it was, and came up with Emily Blunt. Apparently it's Eva Green. I did see a trailer for Frankenweenie though and I'm hoping to be putting that in the good movies thread - it looked ace.
  20. Doesn't reading the subtitles spoil the tension?
  21. anyone know why blueberry game is 11mb d/l but on steam it's 92mb? others examples are over 2x the size on steam.

  22. that Jane Leeves accent was hilarious. I've heard a few dodgy British accents from Brits in USA, mostly I think it's because they're putting on semi posh accents rather than their natural one. I guess most Americans expect British people to sound posh? What does everyone think of Damien Lewis's American accent? It seems completely awful to me and actually hampered my enjoyment of Homeland as I found it so unconvincing. I think he used exactly the same on in that other US series he was in (Life, I think? I didn't watch much of that one - partly due to his annoying accent!)
  23. It just won't stick in my head and I can't be bothered looking it up every time. I would for something important, but toast doesn't count as that. edit: that sounds really bitchy. I was nt supposed to. It's nice of you to do that, TME
