Apparently when you say trick or treat and the householder says treat your supposed to give them a treat (e.g. sing a song or do a little horror routine) and then they reward you with the sweets? Round here people just say trick or treat and you give them some sweets.

Ugh, I could barely sit through Love Actually and I love romcoms. I was much too conscious that they were acting which stopped me enjoying it and was actually a bit cringe-inducing. If you want to see Alan Rickman as a good guy I would highly recommend Sense and Sensibility. It is a really great film, though I guess not everyone loves period dramas (I can't get enough of them).

I would say the reason we don't have garbage disposal in this country is because we tend to minimum spec everything, whereas in the USA (at least the impression I get) is that everything is as big as possible with as much added in as possible. That's why our houses won't have conservatories, air conditioning, tiled floors etc. as standard.

Diet Pepsi and Pepsi Max don't use sugar as they are zero calorie drinks so it would be different sweeteners that account for the difference. Most of our regular fizzy pops use sugar rather than fructose syrup though as they do in the USA. Most girls are skanks that don't know how to dress appropriately for their size. Going from the Ricki Lake show, this is a problem in the US too though. Short shorts and opaque tights (not stockings - stocking over here are the ones that use suspenders) are very popular at the moment. Kids these days really aren't keeping their kidneys warm any more. imperial/metric is just a complete mess. Imperial isn't taught any more but is still used officially in road signs/speeds. I use a mix of both (e.g. wouldn't know if someone was tall/short or thin/fat in metric), but a lot of people even my age will use just imperial. I wish they would just make a clean break. It never occurred to me that proper butter would be different! I personally like slightly salted butter which is about 1.5% salt particularly lurpak. mmm.

While I can appreciate all the improvements and am personally excited by what will be possible (acorns growing into oak trees in Fable finally!) I think it will be a hard sell to the great unwashed. Most people don't care if their character's hair is intelligently moving to the character's movement and the in-game wind or if it is programmed/animated to look like it is moving in that way. Imagine on stage at E3 the tech guy has to explain, "look at this NPC, instead of us telling him to walk along the street and sit at the café table he's decided to do it himself." All the public see is a character who looks the same as this gen do something that looks the same as this gen. They are not going to be ripping out their wallets and spunking $400 on gamestop's counter. edit because of comments made while I was typing the rest up. The smoother framerate and improved general performance fall into the same caategory as I was describing about AI - that is to say it's not something that makes a great 'soundbite' Games might splutter along now when you play them but this is not the case when they're shown off at events so it is not something that will sell new hardware. I also don't really believe things like this bother most gamers. Remember most gamers pick up call of duty, FIFA, and Dance Central and that's them set all these technical problems games have and are picked over on the net are just not picked up on at all by most gamers.

Maybe you could have a new thread 'member profiles' or something and we could all just be allowed one post each and no chat posts were we can put our photo and bit of info like location and age. This one could be the fun one and the other could be the info one. Mods could delete and posts of people who've left or not posted in the previous month or chatty ones. Of course I guess we could all use photos for our profile picture and then stick with whatever picture for the forum avatar.

I think you're right there and that is why they haven't released anything new. If they released a new game that didn't reach the level of Angry Birds (which as you say is almost inevitable) then that would wipe a massive chunk of the ridiculous IPO valuation they're after.

I just watched the Swedish version of Let The Right One In. I think I may have enjoyed it more if I hadn't just read the book as whenever I do that all I can think is 'that isn't anything like the book' plus I think Oskar was just so different from how I imagined him (and Eli to a lesser extent) that it hampered my enjoyment. I did read that Eli's voice is dubbed over by an older actress which I could hardly believe as I was watching it.

I wouldn't trust my neighbour selling games like that - there's just too many ways for it to go wrong. the fact they are in Russia doesn't mean it's more scammy, but it does mean another thing that can go wrong ie a russian key not working in your own country. and any foreign sales add another level of complexity eg as Rockyran pointed out trying to pay for stuff, hell it's a faff just importing stuff from america with the transaction charges and import charges etc. add foreign languages and unknown payment options and it's a total minefield. And of course anything you buy from another country and you pretty much guarantee you don't get any comeback if something does go wrong.

they have stated officially it is the earliest in the time line so far but also stated that it is not the definitive beginning/origin of the legend/timeline as they don't want to paint themselves into a corner story-wise.
