  1. If you just mirrored link non of his animations like opening doors would work as he would be trying to open the hinged side so the whole world needs to be swapped which I guess is a lot easier than reanimating link and all the other things he has to interact with, many of which you;d probably not realise and end up with a load of bugs.
  2. The site that influences me most to buy games? It's not on there: GameCentral From that list? Metacritic if I already have a game in mind. I look more at the +ve, neutral, -ve bars than the score, and from there I'll pick a couple of reviews to look at.
  3. I cannot believe the stupid opt-in to porn deal. All because parents are to lazy and stupid to look after their own children. edit: having said that it does seem to have been bubbling away for a while and never amounts to anything. If it does it looks like I may be leaving BT when my contract is up!
  4. pissed as a fart is another pissed phrase for drunk, and slightly funnier.
  5. not at the time but the n64 was the first 3d console I had and it was the second or third game I played on it (mario 64 and mario kart were the others) so there was no reason for it not to be able to wow me. When the sunrise and the flutey music started up it was a memorable gaming moment, but I never felt it was because of the graphics or even really the art design, more of a scripted moment. Either way, if it only wowed because it was novel then it wasn't the graphical style that impressed. Wind Waker still looks amazing and even when you turn on Twilight Princess in 5 years and the polygon count and textures are laughable the art design will still be great.
  6. You'll be able to use your wiimote+ one the WiiU so it won't go to waste I pre-ordered the special version with the controller because I've played most Zelda games and there isn't one I haven't enjoyed. I think it's only the second game I've pre-ordered partly for the nintendo price promise Yantelope mentioned, partly for the orchestral CD. I have listened to a bit of the SKyward Sword music and it sounds wonderful with proper instruments so I'm sure the CD of older music will be great. http://www.zeldainformer.com/2011/09/29/romance02.mp3 makes me really excited! but I'm not going to listen to any more and spoil it. I love the look of the game. I loved the look of Wind Waker too though I agree they aren't at all similar just that they both aren't 'realistic' styles. I'm sure the controls will be fine. They were fine in Twilight Princess too. Any control scheme has compromises - it's just that we are used to and compensate for quirks based on a standard controller scheme. I'm not sure about the story as I've been trying to avoid reading about it but I've never really been that bothered either way about a story in any game (not just Zelda) I just see it as something to move the game on and tell me where to go next. I like the idea that they are shaking up the explore world/enter dungeon idea though obviously will have to play it before I can say if I like what they've done. Overall, Zelda in my favourite game franchise and I can't imagine what they could do to muck that up.
  7. My favourite thing is the fact that they mix it up instead of just finessing the same style with each new game. I love that as well as the feel of the story and the graphics i think they do a great job of matching in the music as well. One thing I've read in a few places is that watching videos of SS doesn't do the game justice at all and while I should reserve judgement I have chosen SS as my favourite because so far I'm as excited about it as the WW aesthetic so hopefully when I see it for real I will love it even more. I'd put Twilight princess next as I liked that they made it a bit different from the norm - it was the more realistic style but still had a generous layer of artiness on top. I think OoT is as generic as all get out - I can't imagine how anyone could have any feelings good or bad about something so functional and nondescript. It's the only one of the games I've played where I haven't thought at some point 'wow' about any of the things I've seen in it.
  8. You can buy FF7 for the PSP/PS3 now, in fact it's been out for years. With regard to games on different platforms. I think it is OK to emulate the version you bought on a new system but I don't think it's OK to pirate the new version as that is not what you originally purchased. For example, they've just released super mario land 2 on the eShop for my 3DS. I have many gameboy and GBA games (including SML2) but no console to play them on. If I could be bothered I would feel OK about modding my PSP to play them on that but if I could somehow mod my 3DS to get the eShop download for free, even though it is exactly the same as the original version I would not do that.
  9. What did you think of it - It's interesting that you played it for the first time after the intitial hype and rage died down.
  10. They had an Ingmar Bergman season last year over here and I watched a few of his films but didn't really enjoy any of them. I guess he's not for me. I watched Grave of The Fireflies just now. It was sweet and sad, but it was interesting to see a Japanese film set during WWII.
  11. I just bought* Deus Ex: Human Revolution: Augmented Edition and it came with Deus Ex: Game of The Year Edition free which was a nice surprise as it wasn't advertised! Both for £0.70. Bargain! *it's on onlive so I don't quite feel like I own it. It feels even less mine than digital downloads do.
  12. I thought I remembered asking it but not having an answer. Defo nothing like that, thanks!
  13. I think pretty much everyone in the UK has an electric kettle, but I've never seen one on American TV/film: people always use a cooker-top kettle. Is that realistic?
  14. I couldn't spot a BG&E2 thread so I'll pop this in here. The game won't be out on this current gen of consoles. Michel Ancel wants to create the game he envisioned for the first one which had to be cut down substantially to work on the last gen and the current gen obviously still isn't up to snuff. At least it is confirmed the are working toward a target. We can only hope the next gen is powerful enough for it!
  15. how does it compare to streaming a HD video? I see the quality changing quite dramatically depending on what speed I'm getting from my broadband connection, unfortunately it is quite bad quite often.
  16. I'm with BT broadband (onlive's official UK partner) at the moment and they give you 3 months free of the playpack and using it doesn't count to your broadband allowance so I'm pretty chuffed. I've had a go of it and sometimes the picture is a bit pants, but playing dirt3 it was surprising how responsive it was. Depending on how up to date it keeps its games roster then it will be good for trials instead of downloading demos.
  17. Maybe Alpha Protocol is so bad you lose the will to live.
  18. that's weird to give away a game that's already available on the current gen console. Not that I'm complaining. Having said that I can't imagine will sway many people to the PS3 version as I would have thought most people will have already played it. edit: maybe it would have been more of an incentive if they'd added trophy support to it?
  19. speaking of nippy, do you muricans* use peg it meaning to run fast? "I had to peg it for the bus", "after I broke the window I pegged it". *is murican considered derogatory?
  20. Can't believe no one has watched a crap movie in so long. I watched Rango and boy was it a queer fish. Firstly while it was massively impressive technically (it was the most impressive CGI film I've seen) it was just so gosh-darned ugly. All the locals in the saloon were gross, the love interest was not lovely. Even the 'cute' schoolgirl thing was horrifying. Then it was just generally rather grim. The armadillo with the tyre damage, the toad getting taken away and one of the main characters dying on screen was just not what I expect from a children's film. I never really liked the main character either. Basically, the film sapped the joy from my soul.
  21. I haven't seen him around for a while but he used to be in Chester often. My Mum even bought one of his CDs off him.
  22. Just deleted 2GB of music while trying to back it up - Alanis Morisette could have a new line for her song. :(

It's not really a line for her song. That actually IS ironic.

Let me guess, you use iTunes?

iTunes has not been anywhere near my laptop. I just dragged it over to the NAS and deleted the old one and watched in horror as it simultaneously disappeared from the NAS too

  23. It's due in early 2012 in North America. No mention of EU It looks gorgeous. I can't think why the DS version never came out here. the imports look hella expensive.
  24. Swot (usually used as an insult against someone who knows anything or answers a teacher's question (like a suck-up) and chuffed (more particularly "well chuffed") are used around here frequently, so I guess it's regional here in the UK for their usage. edit: just read the BBC Canada wikipedia entry. I can't imagine why anyone would want to watch homes under the hammer in Canada? It's usually grim ex council house wrecks rather than charming country cottages. Also it hardly is something that makes the UK look good, the two presenters look and act like they stepped straight out of the Eighties.
