  1. I play the clarinet and taught myself the piano. I haven't played either for years though, which makes me sad when I think about it, but I don't often think about it I've no reason not to play the clarinet, but when I came home from university one time to see my piano hacked to bits in the garden by my parents I had that decision made for me! I'd love to get an electric piano, but I never found one that felt enough like a piano to justify the expense. I did try to learn the flute once but I was allergic to the nickel in it, making my nose run and my lips tingly.
  2. I finally got around to watching Brazil all the way through. I can't say I loved it. It seemed like ten minutes of plot swollen with self-indulgence to a full length movie.
  3. I watched the first season box set and enjoyed it, but found Walter a bit annoying. I generally can't enjoy 'eccentric' characters.
  4. Did anyone play Puzzle Agent, and would recommend anyone else play it? I like the looks of it.
  5. admittedly, I've only played Move demos, but I have found the thing a complete nightmare: disappointingly laggy, and not moving the on screen action in the way I expect. I don't find it better than the wiimote at all. What did any of you play that impressed you so I can give it a try
  6. We just had a hail storm. In June. That's not normal even for a British summer!

  7. If I'm already live gold and have a code for 2 free days of gold will it extend my sub by 2 days or do chuff all?

I think those 2-day codes are only for silver people, but in general the codes (like the one month codes) will extend the gold sub.

  8. cool. I always leave my laptop plugged in anyway (even though I know it is bad for it) so that won't be a problem.
  9. I think I am going to have a stroke. I hate making big purchase decisions. If you know about a laptop that is twice as good for half the price I DO NOT WANT TO KNOW.
  10. Ah, I see. I don't know about importing into to US but to get stuff here that price difference means you'd also have to pay all the taxes and import duties and such for the blu ray, but you wouldn't for the DVD, so that would definitely have made my decision.
  11. looks like I got a bit of a bargain when I nabbed the eternal diva blu ray for £6!
  12. I just watched Mary and Max. It's a claymation about an australian girl becoming penpals with a New York man. I really enjoyed the style of animation and it made me cry a couple of times, though I think I'm in one of those moods today.
  13. I've loved this for ages, but only finally found out what it is called.
  14. Sony's moved over to dual SD/MS for its camereas and camcorders - I wouldn't be surprised if this had an SD slot and a MS slot. Also, there is space on the game cards for game DLC/patches, so it would only be entirely downloaded games on your own memory cards.
  15. Just dropped my phone in the shower and have a massive crack right across the middle of the screen :(

I think it is just the 'digitiser screen' that is broken. Looks like I could get one for ~£20.

I'm still confused why your phone was in the shower... sometimes I'll put mine on the shelving right beside the shower if I'm expecting a call, but never IN the shower...

It was in a sandwich bag (for waterproofing), and I was listening to music - if it is outside the shower I cannot hear it. I do it fairly often and this is the first time I had a problem.

  16. Is an upgrade from 1600*900 to 1920*1080 on a laptop worth £280?

I've used the free version and found it's sufficient at making 3D. (Though all the downsides of anaglyph 3D). It does knock your framerate a bit so you'll be on older titles. Not sure if I'd pay £280 extra for the privilege though.

I know logically I probably shouldn't get it, but... I find it hard to resist over-speccing on tech products.

I'd say no and spend the £280 on just filling it chock full of games. You'd get much more out of them then a few more lines on the display n 3D.

  17. Has anyone read la noire: the collected stories it expands on the stories/characters in the books. I'm waiting for the game to drop in price before I get it, so won't be getting the book yet either, but am wondering if it is worthwhile. I've never read game related fictoin before. edit: Never mind it's not out until 6 June.
  18. I would love to install 7 on my laptop but I kind of want it to die so I can get a new one. If I did install it on this laptop and it then died. would I be able to reuse the key on, e.g. a self-built desktop? I'd only be using on one computer at a time, but I don't know if you have to 'deactivate' the old computer? It's a retail not OEM copy if that makes a difference.
  19. I just watched La Regle du Jeu, which is supposed to be one of the greatest films ever made. I must be decidedly uncultured as I found it quite ridiculous and the actors shrill and OTT. Not quite sure what I wasn't getting about it.
  20. I still have my copy of Windows 7 sealed in its box... Maybe 8 will be out before I ever get around to cracking it open.
  21. So you possibly dislike Alex Kingston as much/more than the character?
  22. How come you don't like River Song?
  23. I'm watching Dan In Real Life as it's on TV again. I really like it but there seems to be quite divided opinion over it. I may get it on DVD as it's one I enjoy rewatching, which I don't with a lot of films.
