  1. how does it compare to streaming a HD video? I see the quality changing quite dramatically depending on what speed I'm getting from my broadband connection, unfortunately it is quite bad quite often.
  2. I'm with BT broadband (onlive's official UK partner) at the moment and they give you 3 months free of the playpack and using it doesn't count to your broadband allowance so I'm pretty chuffed. I've had a go of it and sometimes the picture is a bit pants, but playing dirt3 it was surprising how responsive it was. Depending on how up to date it keeps its games roster then it will be good for trials instead of downloading demos.
  3. Maybe Alpha Protocol is so bad you lose the will to live.
  4. that's weird to give away a game that's already available on the current gen console. Not that I'm complaining. Having said that I can't imagine will sway many people to the PS3 version as I would have thought most people will have already played it. edit: maybe it would have been more of an incentive if they'd added trophy support to it?
  5. speaking of nippy, do you muricans* use peg it meaning to run fast? "I had to peg it for the bus", "after I broke the window I pegged it". *is murican considered derogatory?
  6. Can't believe no one has watched a crap movie in so long. I watched Rango and boy was it a queer fish. Firstly while it was massively impressive technically (it was the most impressive CGI film I've seen) it was just so gosh-darned ugly. All the locals in the saloon were gross, the love interest was not lovely. Even the 'cute' schoolgirl thing was horrifying. Then it was just generally rather grim. The armadillo with the tyre damage, the toad getting taken away and one of the main characters dying on screen was just not what I expect from a children's film. I never really liked the main character either. Basically, the film sapped the joy from my soul.
  7. I haven't seen him around for a while but he used to be in Chester often. My Mum even bought one of his CDs off him.
  8. Just deleted 2GB of music while trying to back it up - Alanis Morisette could have a new line for her song. :(

It's not really a line for her song. That actually IS ironic.

Let me guess, you use iTunes?

iTunes has not been anywhere near my laptop. I just dragged it over to the NAS and deleted the old one and watched in horror as it simultaneously disappeared from the NAS too

  9. It's due in early 2012 in North America. No mention of EU It looks gorgeous. I can't think why the DS version never came out here. the imports look hella expensive.
  10. Swot (usually used as an insult against someone who knows anything or answers a teacher's question (like a suck-up) and chuffed (more particularly "well chuffed") are used around here frequently, so I guess it's regional here in the UK for their usage. edit: just read the BBC Canada wikipedia entry. I can't imagine why anyone would want to watch homes under the hammer in Canada? It's usually grim ex council house wrecks rather than charming country cottages. Also it hardly is something that makes the UK look good, the two presenters look and act like they stepped straight out of the Eighties.
  11. I listened to it while I was walking my dogs and enjoyed it. It was long but it didn't flag at all and had no awkward pauses where people were trying to think of something to say. It didn't feel like it dragged on at all and actually didn't feel too long while listening. You all were very listenable and had 'life in your voices' (can't think of a better way to phrase that, sorry!). I didn't actually miss the lack of game talk, and I liked the way it was mentioned as part of a natural conversation (like playing the GBA in the toilet cubicles) rather than being stilted 'discussion points' which can make the flow quite choppy. hmm, as for improvements? I can imagine the length of it would put some people off from giving it a go - I don't know if I'd have bothered if I didn't like your posts from here and had instead come to it blind. While I definitely don't think you should force more game chat into it if more popped in naturally I wouldn't complain Overall though, well done - I'll be downloading the next one for sure.
  12. So jealous. I paedo'd a game shop with my 3DS in my bag and didn't get any hits and I'm not moving to Tokyo just to get spot passed! I wish Nintendo would let it work over the internet I think they forget most places don't have the required density of consoles for it to be useful. :/
  13. Maybe they think it is traditional in the UK to toast all your missives with a drink to wish it bon voyage.
  14. Hopefully more confused than upset. I'm just picturing a 15year old with a quavering lip, "pikachu... where are you...?"
  15. The only point it gets across is that ISPs shouldn't be responsible for what their users are doing (which I agree with). The rest of it was bat-whoopsie insane. He sounds like he doesn't believe companies should have any protection for what they have created at all - that after they have spent time and money creating something anyone should then have free access to it. Could he then explain exactly why a company should make anything in the first place? How can a sane person not believe that a person/company that expends time and or resources to create something that you want and do not have the ability to create yourself you swap your time/resources for it. In the modern world exchanges are usually standardised with money instead of exchanging everything directly. The author of that article 'enrages me' thinking a company shouldn't be entitled to profit for what it creates
  16. Your winner is No One Lives Forever 3, at least according to my coin.
  17. I just watched Orphans of the Storm. At 3 hours long I nearly didn't bother but I'm glad I did. It was enjoyable and I love the acting in silent movies. I should watch some more of them but I'd have no clue where to start.
  18. I just click on a new song just before the current one ends so I never get any adverts.
  19. I've never played a Zelda game I didn't love and I think the new art style looks beautiful so I really can't imagine not loving it. Having said that Nintendo do seem to be trying their best to annoy loyal customers of late. I agree the controller looks awesome and the bundle is actually the cheapest way to get a motion plus controller, which I don't own at the moment. Only thing is my boring white nunchuck is going to look dreadful drear plugged in to it.
  20. My parents have pre-ordered this for Christmas, which means I CAN'T PLAY IT UNTIL CHRISTMAS!!!
  21. that... thing... is awful. If they bring out a new redesigned console I will not be happy. If they give all existing customers a free add on pad I will not be happy. If they offer all existing customers a new redesigned console and move all their games over I will still not be happy. This fiasco just shows that they had no confidence in the 3DS hardware to begin with so they shouldn't have released it. You may not have liked the power or design of older consoles but you always felt that Nintendo released what they wanted to and had solid reasons for their decisions. They just seem to have completely lost their way and I can't help but have lost a little faith in them. I actually feel more sad than angry.
  22. http://www.metro.co.uk/tech/games/874412-dead-island-review-happy-trails Not a very +ve review. it does say the coop can be fun, but not local. If you haven't heard of the site it's my favourite - they don't just throw anything up then check on the facts later and the reviews are always very fair.
  23. Ocarina of Time 3D. I've started the game a couple of times on the N64 and Gamecube. I really enjoyed it but I don't think it stood out as better than any of the other games in the series, maybe you had to play it at the time as it was such a leap from what else was out there at the time. I'm glad I can say I've played it now though as I think it's one of those games that everyone should play. I thought the 3D remake was very good too not just the 3D which I loved and really felt added to the experience but also the improvement in textures which you don't really appreciate until you look at some of the N64 videos online - it's quite shocking! Going to have a go at the original Zelda next since I just got it for free on 3DS so I can see where it all started.
  24. I'm reading I Capture The Castle at the moment - I'm really loving it. Cassandra is really vividly drawn you can picture her as you are reading.
  25. I needed textbooks for all my subjects at university and I'm in the UK, so I guess it is more of a course by course rather than country thing.
