games that have made you cry.
TheFlyingGerbil replied to TheForgetfulBrain's topic in General Gaming Chat
I'm a complete crybaby at films - really[/i} bad but I just don't get emotional over games. Maybe it's because you only play the game in bursts I don't get into it so much? I don't know, but it's certainly not because I'm not in touch with my emotions! :'( Joe -
Young Frankenstein. I know it's supposed to be a classic but I just didn't think it was funny. It wasn't bad enough for me to turn off but I did end up with my reading book open. Joe EDIT: Just watched The Prestige. It was enjoyable but rather obvious 'twist' and I am usually blindsided by twisted so it must have been really clunky.

What are you listening to now?
TheFlyingGerbil replied to Chronixal's topic in Entertainment Exchange
I'm listening to Mandy Moore - Only hope on Spotify. If liking it's wrong I don't want to be right! Here it is in the film A Walk To Remember which is a complete tear jerker for a Wusstopher Williams like me. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0ofeDruIwTM I also love this clip of her singing Stupid Cupid in The Princess Diaries. The rendition of the song isn't too great but I love the dancing and everything makes me giggle like a school girl. Oh and that reminds me of this. Mean girls is awesome and this clip just made me literally LOL (LLOL?) twice watching it just now. I know it's Lindsay Lohan but I'm not just obsessed with Mandy Moore! So in conclusion: I like films aimed at tweenage girls: so sue me! Joe -
Anyone ever owned an Amiga before?
TheFlyingGerbil replied to Mudkip3DS's topic in Retro/Classic Games
It wasn't at all before my time I had an Amiga 500. It had a GIGANTIC (about 15cm) modulator sticking out the back to plug it into the TV which if you ever moved anything on the desk even slightly it would dislodge from its port and you'd lose the signal - particularly annoying during a frantic bout of Street Fighter (unless you were losing, lol). It was pretty ace actually, I used to love the speech synthesiser on it and the games were ace. You can tell how fond of it we were as we actually thought it was a good idea to buy an Amiga CD32. That was less successful Oh, and I have no idea what those abbreviations mintycrys used, sorry. They've made a new Amiga OS version 4 which is still supported but it only works on PowerPCs. Joe P.S. I've just noticed how old this thread is but after typing all that I'm bloomin' well gonna post it! -
I wouldn't hold your breath - I would say they will put minimal effort into the port. Joe

I have that but never actually played it. The 'harder version' description put me off. Joe

I'm now imagining a William Shatner-style performance and am quite excited. You're right about 'notorious'. I'd say it's because I'm Welsh but I don't speak a word of that. Joe

If you want a fun game to play with non-gamers Blue Toad Mystery Files is a good laugh. You can get the six episodes for cheap in a bundle now. Joe

I think singing is notoriously bad for hiding accents from all over the world. The only accent that manages to shine through in singing is Scottish. Joe

I'm afraid you won't get any local flavour from me, I have a pretty generic sounding British accent. All you can really tell is: a. I'm not from the South; b. I have a permanently blocked nose. When I'm speaking more naturally I can sound quite camp and (for around here at least) quite posh. I'd say the posh bit is more that I don't have a common accent rather than I do have a posh one. Joe

Your map is ace: the UK looks like ET with a hard-on. Joe

My Chrome has started "not responding" every few days in the last few weeks but it's still my favourite. It is also a complete nightmare on the xbox website for me where I get into an infinite login loop. But I just use the IE tab plugin and it's fine. The only thing I miss from Firefox is the cooliris plugin where you could hover over any link and it would make a popup preview of the page without leaving the current one. Google does it now on its search page but not for normal sites. I did want to like Opera as I think it is very innovative but it is just hard work to use and impossible to get rid of. Joe EDIT: I use both Chrome and firefox in beta so was keen to try the IE 9 beta but it wouldn't even load. I think we're spoiled expecting betas to be flawless now!

Actually you did build a wall between England and Wales. Also, I have no clue what you're talking about in the spoiler tags? I'm imaging latex... Joe

Reminisce, possibly with a manly tear in your eye, about games you were looking forward to but were cancelled or not released in your territory (a perennial problem for us EUers). I ask because I just had a thought about Sadness for the Wii which looked really interesting. Not sure I ever believed it would see the light of day to be honest so I wasn't surprised it got cancelled (the company went bust) but they managed to string us along for several years on a piece of music and about three concept art pieces - not bad going! The great Wii games that no one mentions
TheFlyingGerbil replied to Battra92's topic in Nintendo Games
I hope fragile moon is good - I just ordered it so I'm blaming you, claudioiphigenia if I've wasted my money! I remember it looked interesting before it came out then I totally forgot all about it. Someone on Amazon's reviews said it was like a cross between Zelda and Silent Hill, and if that doesn't make you want to buy a game I don't know what would! Joe -
lol, you make it sound like Wales is a cancer on England. That's Scotland.
-
I can't believe you have to rebuy content. Obviously I wouldn't expect everything I already bought to work on it but this is the kind of online cluelessness Nintendo gets a battering over. Joe

I think I mixed up RockyRans post about the dates. I thought it didn't make sense. I think the problem I have with the creature is the mix of the different animal types then there's the fur and feathers and the spears sticking out of it. Then you have the cute face which is ruined by the stubby horn things. I think there is just to much going on with it. After the brainstorming sessions they should have crossed some of the ideas out instead of putting them all in! Joe

plus if it's a recording we can hack it up to make people say naughty/incriminating things! Joe

If you only want to post in one thread of the welcome forum, make it the What do you look like thread! Joe

I never played the first two games*, and am totally excited for the HD collection of them - they'r the reason I was disappointed my PS3 didn't have backwards compatibility. As for the new game I know this is really shallow, but the fact the creature is so ugly kinda makes me not like it. I'm hoping playing the first two will get me psyched for the third. Joe P.S. From reading this thread it sounds like the third game is released before the collection. That sounds really backwards to me and is surely not the way to maximise sales of either game. *I know they are not technically a series.

I voted Link's Awakening. It was the first one I played and it was so different to anything I'd played before. I was just blown away that you were playing in a proper world. Don't know if I could say it is the best but it is my favourite. Do you guys generally prefer the game you played first? Joe

I wish I could be sensible and wait for the lite version as I think it looks atrocious as it is. The other problem I have is I keep looking at the pre-order pages and just cannot see a game I want to pre-order with it. I dunno. I definitely will get one as I've never been disappointed with a Nintendo console yet and I do genuinely love the idea of 3D. I have so many DS games to get through I may try and stay my impulses and wait but there are some pretty good pre-order deals around. OMG seriously I cannot decide and it is tearing my soul apart.

That trailer looks a bit combat heavy. I was hoping for a bit less of that as it was the reason I gave up on GTA IV. Joe

Thanks. I tend to just hit the title of the thread or the last page number. I guess I should start using the features that make life easier. Joe
