I'd rather pay the extra to get one that's less ugly and with a better battery life. The only thing that's bugging me now is how do you trade in your DSi and transfer your DSiWare games over? Do you need to have them both in your possession at the same time?
-
thanks for the info. I guess that means I can't sell my DSi before the price plummets :/ I think I've pretty much made up my mind to wait for the lite version now. Hopefully they'll have the battery life extended for that and maybe it will be a bit less uggo.

I just finished Professor Layton and the Lost Future. The ending was pretty dumb... ... but overall I think it was my favourite of the series.
-
I finally finished Spirit Tracks which I got when it was new. From that you may think I didn't like it but I actually really did. The only complaint was the stupid portals on the train tracks so you couldn't choose where you wanted to warp.

I would say at least in the UK, children aren't really taught to write properly any more (parents' generation would have been)so it would mostly be for younger people that the girl and boy handwriting thing kicks in as we were basically left to our own devices after we were taught to print with a kick at the end of each letter and girl's tend to have naturally more legible writing than boys.

A bit late to the entree discussion, (been playing professor layton and the lost future. ACE!) but 'entrance' could be the arrival of the main meat: boar's head, cockentrice etc. which would be paraded in to the room at a feast(making an entrance) so could just as easily mean the main part of the meal as the beginning of it.

Don't know if this counts as it's Indie not Arcade but clover: a curious tale is half price (now 200 points) but that ends today so I thought I'd stick it in here. It has had a couple of good reviews but I haven't played it yet so don't blame me if you hate it!

People who quote/reply a post with: This/+1/I agree and nothing else. Write something interesting. Even if it's just why you agree. Why do you think anyone wants to simply know you agree. I have no clue who you are so why would I care? Not saying every post can be interesting but at least try or don't bother at all.

Games that you hate that everyone else seems to like

When I say bad I don't think you realise how bad. I can empty an entire gun out on an enemy without killing it if I'm in a particularly off mood. -

The FPS genre. Probably the most successful genre of recent years. Every so often I try to get on with one but I just find them incredibly frustrating. I don't hate them per se but because I'm awful at them I cannot enjoy them so feel like I am missing out on some of the biggest games that get released. I feel the same way but to a lesser extent about third person shooters. I tend to find them easier to control but it still means I get more frustration than enjoyment out of them but I can at least get through them if there are other aspects of the game I enjoy. It also means I miss out on one of the biggest areas that games have moved in to: multiplayer. I can't tell you how many reviews say the single player is mediocre but get it for the multiplayer and that's me scuppered. Even worse is co-op. I think this is the area that is potentially the most fun and it really annoys me that I'm too sucky to inflict myself on another player. I'd be like one of those escort missions AI characters everyone hates. -
My guess is they release a 3DS one with the launch of the 3DS lite.

speaking of youtube, I'm sometimes getting a 'no plug-in to play the file' type message - I think it's mostly when someone quotes a video, but wouldn't swear to that. Is this happening to anyone else or is it my computer? I'm using Chrome beta.

That's where I disagree though, it's just not as overt as it is in the USA. MPs here generally suppress their religious views in public but then act on them in votes.

I had in mind specifically Too Human, and it followed a similar arc to what you say about LA Noire (uncommon style/genre and technologically overreaching). There are others too but I cant think of them off the top of my head. Delays can be good to a certain extent where they are done to trim the fat and make genuinely useful additions. but i think that only works when delays come at the end of the development cycle. It's when the game proved too ambitious (as too human supposedly was) for the technology that exists at its inception and the delays occur throughout the process that I think the bloat sets in and I really hope that's not the case here.

If different sects of Christianity or Islam can hate each other so much I don't see the difficulty in them hating their each other. Also, it may be true that most people in this country are merely 'default christians' but thinking that Christian ideology doesn't pervade our supposedly secular politics is unfortunately untrue. I don't know if you remember that we had a member of Opus Dei (Ruth Kelly) in the cabinet among other Christians in the back benches who tried (and nearly succeeded) in getting Catholic adoption agencies exempted from sexual orientation regulations. There are numerous other examples. And don't forget that Tony Blair hid his Catholicism from the public during his premiership. Not to mention the parade of religious leaders pontificating on the news over every socio-political issue in the news. Of course they claim to speak for the Christian majority but vastly over-represent themselves and distort the view of the public toward the more conservative views they hold. Religious leaders definitely hold more sway than their dwindling number of followers give them and their is too much morality in politics in this country with too many MPs letting their personal beliefs affect decisions that should be made on more concrete reasoning.

I may form a new religion with you as the Deity, Atomsk88. Everything you're saying is so... reasonable!
-
I thought your original post was good (as was the follow up I quoted). Certainly not condescending - it they seem very reasoned and like you have a good justification for your thoughts. The best part? I cannot tell if you believe in God or not. That is the best way you can be in a discussion like this (and in life generally): to give your opinions without ramming beliefs (whether pro or anti religion/god) into it which will only put half the people off what you're saying.

I like the premise of this game but don't games that get delayed this often usually end up a bit of an unfocussed mess. I'm hoping they managed to keep it tight over all this time.
-
Studiously, ignoring that last comment! That's how I feel about that game too and have also just relented and bought it. I'm excited about the supposed zelda-style gameplay but am not into the metal-styling.

If you'd had you middle finger pushing up your glasses that picture could have become a meme on here.
-
While I haven't taken offence, the bit I've highlighted appears really condescending - I'm not sure how you meant it to come off but it, but it certainly sounds like you think less of people who don't need a crutch to get through their troubles.
-
I wonder people who crack them often can you 'prime' your joints to crack? Mine either do or don't need to be cracked but I cannot do it at will.

UK: The Hut has 10% off all games (excluding pre-orders) at the moment using the code "GAMEDAY" Darksiders is on there for £9.85 so with 10% off and cashback of 3.53% it will be quite a bargain and so I can't find any more excuses not to get it.

This is another regional thing, but "December the seventh" bothers me a lot, around here people just say "December seventh". I think it's quite American to remove extraneous words from sentences. eg US: We do our weekly food shop Tuesdays. UK: we do our weekly food shop every tuesday/ we do our weekly food shop on Tuesdays.

Most Anticipated titles for 2011?
TheFlyingGerbil replied to superfrogsavestokyo's topic in General Gaming Chat
From the people that brought you "We Dare". I too am excited for this. Is it Move compatible? Seems ideally suited to it. I hope so - that might actually tempt me to get the move my only temptation so far is to get the rest of my missing Heavy Rain trophies with it.
