  1. My guess is a decent battle mode and extra characters will be DLC, as Nintendo seem to be edging their way in to that territory. They seem like reasonable things to add on as they're not part of the core game and it would explain why the battle mode took a step backward over the previous games. I'll be buying it after the Nintendo digital presentation - I can't wait! I've decided to bite the bullet and buy the digital version even though it's dearer than the disc as I often only want to play one cup or so before playing a different game and if I had to swap discs I know I would just end up not playing it at all. Kind of hurts me to spend £50 on a game though: it's definitely significantly more than I've ever spent before.
  2. The only one I can watch live is MS, which I probably will but am not really that interested. The only one I'd want to watch live would be the Nintendo one, but I'm at work. Though considering the stuttering mess it usually is I don't mind watching it a bit later. Also, if it's anything like their normal directs it will just be a repeat of a load of stuff we already know The best bit of news they could give is a winter 2014 Zelda Wii U but I think we'll be lucky to get it 2015.
  3. I played and finished Attack of the Friday Monsters last week - I really enjoyed it even though I would struggle to call it a game as such: you basically run around chatting to people and playing the occasional card game version of rock paper scissors. It just had a really nice atmosphere, and was really calming to play. If anyone ever gives it a go use B to move, as it it keeps your direction when the perspective changes as you move screens - no running in and straight back out of a scene. I could have kicked myself as I didn't realise this until i 'd nearly finished the game I also just now finished Bioshock Infinite. It's the first bioshock game I've played, and I can't exactly say I see what all the fuss is about. I didn't find the story particularly engaging nor emotionally affecting. maybe I'd have got more out of it if I'd played the previous two? Who knows but it hasn't inspired me rush out and play them.
  4. I don't think she'd abdicate unless she became seriously unwell. Her sense of duty is pretty much her defining characteristic and her duty is to serve her country, not to "give her son a go". The tradition in this country is to reign until you die, which seems different to how other European countries do things. I'm personally looking forward to September next year when she'll become the longest reigning British monarch. After that, there's no way if Prince Charles is healthy he will not become king, the whole reason some people hate the monarchy is that it's hereditary, not a popularity contest. Having said that despite the fact he's more opinionated than the Queen, he's well enough liked and pretty much everyone except Express readers are over the Diana thing. People can see how happy he and Camilla are and she's been wise enough to keep a back seat and I think that's softened most people to the situation.
  5. just rewatched the last video I posted and it is brill!
  6. 4 second clip needs sound, doesn't auto play
  7. bread making is a dark art - good luck. Tougher bread is good for dipping in soup and if it tastes like alcohol you could make a tomato one and call it a bloody mary soup!
  8. I wanted to take a link between worlds on holiday with me tomorrow, but I haven't finished a link to the past yet (I just cant seem to get on with it for some reason, I've tried several times). Has anyone played both games? I'm guessing there are going to be many references to the past game, but as long as they make sense on their own terms so it's not obvious I'm missing the point, it should be all right? Urgh. I should probably just take a different game, but I feel like playing Zelda. I need to just plough through LttP first... Dammit, no Zelda for me
  9. trigger warnings are useful because people can filter out the tags so they don't see those posts at all. I can see where Mister Jack is coming from though because some of the things I read on tumblr make me want to punch the person in the face until my knuckles bleed. I know there are blogs out there full of emaciated people and images of self-harm which I understand would be bad for people to see, and I find it jarring if a picture like that ends up on my dash, even though it doesn't really affect me. BUT, for example, this happened on my tumblr dash: blogger makes a post - "had pasta for lunch it was lovely". It got a reply "can you tag that it's very triggering for my problems/bulimia". It was already tagged [food], and seriously could you have created a more innocuous post? [very triggering] is a phrase that's very triggering for me. Some people are just looking to be offended and if that sort of post is genuinely a problem then you should literally not go on the internet and need a stay in hospital until you can interact safely in the real world.
  10. Did you all vote in the elections on Thursday? What does everyone think of this UKIP phenomenon? bad things I hope. looks like they'r going to be top in the European election. It doesn't help that they've been so overexposed in the media - 90% of coverage seems to be about them.
  11. I'm sure things will improve - my only worry is, since the current consoles are so similar to PC architecture then they won't improve by too much as developers are not travelling in such uncharted waters as they were at the start of last gen.
  12. As a non-PC gamer I'd not link resolution to graphics quality settings. so, e.g. someone saying, "I dropped the resolution so I could play it on high settings" would be how I imagine things. So it seems OK to say console = high PC settings even if the resolution is lower. also,it says there is an ultra setting for PC so you can have better quality graphics and at a higher resolution if your PC is up to it. Having said all that and while I'm sure it will look lovely I do find it slightly disappointing still that "next" gen isn't 1080p as standard.
  13. I can't decide if this is awesome or hilariously bad.
  14. thanks for the extra info. by the time I come to my own buying decision everything will probably be wireless anyway...
  15. that's cool - I guessed splitting out the audio would need power, and that's what I'd like it for more than the extra inputs.
  16. does it use a power adaptor? I'd love something like that but I couldn't bear another plug behind the TV. There's just so many wires already.
  17. I guess it did well in the first year when people still believed it might be as good and well utilised as Microsoft told everyone. Come year two and it was not half as effective as the adverts implied and games only used it as a very expensive microphone if at all and they should have realised the public had lost trust in it.
  18. Just had a quick look and it's Fable Legends, it says its a co-op version of the Fable, but will keep people playing for 5 years? Sounds a but weird unless maybe it will be to MMOs what the previous games were to RPGs.
  19. The only xbox exclusive game I liked was Fable, but I'm not insane enough to buy a console just to play that. Haven't even heard anything about that except the Journeys game. Is that franchise dead now?
  20. No doubt, it just read like you were expecting an E3 announcement or something. Personally, I'm waiting for the slim PS4 while I work through my gaming backlog on my other consoles. .At the moment I can't think what MS could do to make me buy a XO.
  21. Zelda and Lego City Wii U bundles are £150 (each, obvs.) in HMV stores. If you ever were tempted to get a Wii U it is very unlikely you'll find a better offer than that.
  22. Half life 2 and portal on shield is not so much gilding the lily as polishing a turd so I wouldn't spend too long feeling jealous. That time could be spent on the half a dozen other systems you probably own that could play those for the last decade.
