  1. We have a British equivalent of that called Gogglebox and it is absolutely brilliant. edit: Actually just reading up about it seems People's couch was franchised from gogglebox so definitely similar though the US version looks a bit less down to earth. I love all the people on it except the Tapper family who are very loud. Look at the gay dude on the lefts face when his boyfriend says "we all like a bad boy". It's 12 seconds in. Classic.
  2. I know it's not exactly cloud, but I noticed most of the games in the MS press conference mentioned dedicated servers. I didn't realise that was such a big selling point and anyway to me as it just sounds like you're running the risk of them being turned off sooner rather than later if the game's sales don't meet expectations or the sequel comes out
  3. I'm surprised there's not more Hs at the end of words.
  4. This isn't a request for help so much as a tip that's made a real difference to my phone. I changed it from the Dalvik runtime to Art. You tap "about phone" 5 times in settings to activate developer mode then it's one of the options in there. Your phone resets and recompiles your apps. Took about 5 mins in all and my phone runs so much better. Previously whenever I opened a semi-complicated web page my podcast player would stop and it hasn't done that once since and the whole thing seems generally snappier. They did warn as not everything is optimised for it yet there may be some stability issues but I haven't had any so I'd say definitely worth trying if your phone's not as fast as you would like.
  5. looks cool. Can't believe I haven't thought to get an app like that before.
  6. I'm guessing/hoping it will be on the actual show floor. That doesn't open until tomorrow does it? Certainly does seem weird though
  7. I don't mind if you're being an awful, awful cheat on your predictions, I just thought I'd missed something. That kirby game looked ropey enough to be a 3DS game but was actually Wii U, so I don't know if that was it.
  8. what was mentioned for 3DS other than Smash Brothers? Or was just that too much... I only finished watching it an hour ago and I can't think of anything else. Discounting the actual announcements, I much prefer Nintendo's pre-recorded style, it's much snappier and actually enjoyable to watch rather than the others where I just keep thinking "get a move on" but I guess it's not event-y enough for them. Sony's seemed to have a lot of technical problems but the audience seems keener there, but there was still a lot of "pause for applause" without any applause.
  9. It sounds like it was a constraint of the systems that they couldn't make big open worlds in 3D before, rather than a design decision so they probably didn't have any choice. They mentioned the same thing with wind waker when they made the HD update - they couldn't even load the empty seas never mind a populated world for that. Maybe it's something to do with Nintendo always scrimping on RAM or just that they don't really have much experience in large scale 3D worlds. 3D zelda is so different from any or their other franchises from a technical perspective. You've seen the areas get bigger and less corridory as they've gone on though. I will admit that when they showed the open Hyrule field, I did audibly "wow". I know I'm probably reading too much into the very small amount they showed but if it turns out to be a my first witcher/skyrim I will be very happy indeed. Zelda needs more side quests - especially in a large world like that and hopefully not just fighting monsters, as I actually really love fetch quests. And at least it looks like they've genuinely changed tack and come up with something new. Before now the only thing you've really had to see more of is how the art style looks but now we can really look forward to finding more information about how the actual game will play. edit: here's the Zelda section of the presentation for anyone that didn't watch it.
  10. I didn't see this mentioned in the E3 thread. GTA V is coming to PS4, XONE and PC this Autumn. I guess a few of you here will be pleased the PC version will be out the same time as next gen at least though it wasn't released with last gen. Or are you all over it now?
  11. Yes it's pretty much that in fact it has someone from the hills in it at the moment... Stephanie I think
  12. I'm guessing none of you watch it but I absolutely love Made in Chelsea. I just sit there was a stupid grin on my face. SO MUCH DRAMA. Anyone watch any constructed reality shows?
  13. I've gone back to FF XIII. It's the first and only FF game I've played. This is my third time having a go at it. I'm on chapter 10 and it said my playtime was 34 hours. I'm determined to finish it. Not sure how long I've got left of it, but hopefully I'm over half way. I enjoy it enough when I'm playing it it just doesn't seem to hold my attention. Unsurprisingly I am absolutely lost in the plot and can't remember my fal'si from my l'cie. I hate all these stupid names and apostrophies sci-fi and fantasy insist on using and all the logs in the menu are just too much. Was pretty non-plussed in my first battle too as I'd forgotten about paradigms, luckily it was only some small bat looking things so I didn't need any healing. Kind of hoping I can get through the rest of the game just upgrading and not changing anything as I can't be bothered rereading all the details I'd need to know to make informed changes.
  14. It looked cool but he was bouncing round like a maniac and I couldn't see any on screen cues as to what you could interact with like the trampoline with the flames around it would be easy to miss the speed he was moving around and the edges you could grind didn't pop out in any way. Seems like once you're on the ground it would all grind to screeching halt. At least it was a change of pace from the military shooters.
  15. I had a phone sock for my old phone but it annoyed me having to take it in and out all the time, plus you had to hold it when you were using the phone so it was not an ideal solution. My current phone has a built in case, the whole back comes off and you replace it with one with a built in flap. that protects the screen but doesn't add any bulk and since it's attached I don't have to worry about holding it. It;s held closed by magnets which also, de/activates the phones when you close open the flap. I love it and don't know what I'll do when I get a new phones. Thing I'm more worried about than the screen is the headphone socket. That got effed on my old phone and I'd hardly used it so I'm scared to use it on my new one but it sounds nicer and is less hassle than using my bluetooth adaptor. Such a dilemma.
  16. That's pretty rich when I remember Romney's wife's tale of struggle was how they only had the $$$ from his massive investment portfolio to live off in their mortgage free home while he was looking for a job.
  17. I don't understand cases, as most only protect the back which is the least vulnerable part of the phone and really don't look like they'd provide any particular drop protection. The thing that drives me mad though is screen protectors as I just see so many phones with bubbly screens and debris stuck under the film and even if it's neatly applied and clean it still ruins the image on the screen.
  18. So what's so gimpy about what you were using before the trial? Is it just the amount of memory they dedicate to it?
  19. Just finished watching the MS conference (late I know, sorry!), I thought it was funny the highlight reel they ended on had a song that kept repeating "give it to me now" when half the games they showed had 2015 release dates. That Inside game from playdead reminded me of Another World for some reason so that was a bit of a flashback. Apart from that it seemed decent but not exciting, the main problem is since most stuff is multi-platform it doesn't really generate and strong attachment to Xbox. One thing it did make me wonder as since it is so full of games we already know about and multiplatform games, I can't see how Nintendo are going to fill and hour (and a half) since it pretty much will only have first party stuff to show and that's only a small handful of games.
  20. Maybe Iwata's "illness" is the prelude to him stepping down without the embarrassment of a sacking. Oh and good luck with the minimal Smash content - that is all they seem to want/have to talk about I think at best it will be concept art, and as an alternative to TP HD, I would be happy with Majora's Mask kicking of their N64 Vitual Console service.
  21. Has anyone played falling card game? It's free to print out off their website. Or you can buy it. I heard it mentioned on a podcast and they said it was fast paced (only 90 secs long) and fun.
  22. yeah, i thought the free game is going to be worth more than any price cut it will ever get. Plus it means I'll have wind waker HD which I wanted but was annoyed by the price of that so getting it free is pretty sweet. Plus I'll get Super Mario Kart free which I will never play but still it's another free game!
  23. I've tried both Trine games. I couldn't point out what I don't like about them, they look impressive, it's a game mechanic I like - they just seem sort of soulless. I think the change to Rainbow road it's to do with online play. When it was on N64 local multiplayer, things like that only added to the fun (you could punch the person that did it!) but in online races they try and make it as fair as possible, and I remember them patching MK7 to fix a track shortcut and you couldn't play online without the update. I'm sure people will find new exploits in the new tracks, and Nintendo will try to patch them out.
  24. My guess is a decent battle mode and extra characters will be DLC, as Nintendo seem to be edging their way in to that territory. They seem like reasonable things to add on as they're not part of the core game and it would explain why the battle mode took a step backward over the previous games. I'll be buying it after the Nintendo digital presentation - I can't wait! I've decided to bite the bullet and buy the digital version even though it's dearer than the disc as I often only want to play one cup or so before playing a different game and if I had to swap discs I know I would just end up not playing it at all. Kind of hurts me to spend £50 on a game though: it's definitely significantly more than I've ever spent before.
