who here is for and who against the death penalty? Can we change the poll?
-
needs sound on it's only 15 seconds and you will at least smile and maybe chuckle a little ok it's more like 20 seconds but I've watched it, like 5 times now!

hopefully he gets bored of it soon as most people seem to. Mind you if he hasn't any other games to move on to... Anyway, I hope your villagers don't guilt you too much when you get back! After just realising last week that you don't customise furniture colour with ores I've done my downstairs main room and am on to my bedroom next. Only trouble is I can't decide which colour to go for so I made a chair in each colour to help me decide. Still not sure. Can't believe I'm this indecisive about a paint colour in a video game

So my 3DS activity log has me at over 300 hours as of a couple of weeks ago and though I'm not sure how it actually counts that it still means I've been playing a lot! It's more than I've played any other game that's for sure, that's ever not just on 3DS. And even though I've been playing all that time and pretty much buy everything I don't think I already own I only just got the badge to say I've completed 50% of the catalogue. There must be so much stuff! I'm guessing nobody is playing it regularly any longer but I wonder if any of you pick it up at all?

wow, the EU sale on PSN is pants compared to the US. I bought the Brothers game. Everything else was years old so I either already had it or never wanted it.

Nintendo's market value has overtaken Sony. And slightly surprisingly, PS4 was the best selling home console in the UK last year. Which I guess implies the last gen sales (and obviously Wii U too) were very stagnant

I'm "spectacularly south east" Not sure about the adjective, but I suppose it makes sense in that I don't live too near anywhere with a strong regional dialect and south east would probably be seen as the default. Luckily I escaped having much of an accent too as the one in my local town has strong scouse influences and sounds quite harsh. But to be honest I don't think anyone speaks with most of those phrases outside of comic impressions. When was the last time "all right my lover?" was said in earnest? Most of them probably died out pre first world war as actual everyday language. The bread one was stupid as well because most of the different phrases mean different types of bread. All in all I can see why it would have annoyed a lot of people.

that's his favourite shirt? it was funny though. This may be my new default response to angry people. I think Willam Belli is hilarious and was gutted when Willam's Beatdown stopped. I need to find if Ru Paul's Drag Race is available over here anywhere other than SKY. The clips always look really funny. edit: why doesn't the video embed? Link It's only 15 seconds - watch it!

not this http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=NFPYy0m-GJ8 On another note, I made toad in the hole for the first time this week. It turned out really well and since yorkshire puddings are my absolute favourite, it was a real treat. I made it with cream and bacon sprouts, roast potatoes, honey roast parsnips and onion gravy.

did you get it to work yet? We're all rooting for you!

She still feels like she's in her introductory period to me. I'm sure something more exciting must be in store for her linked to her incidentally what's the spoiler rule in here? I'm guess most people will know what I just wrote there.

have you tried using . , and / as separators? or not leaving a gap at all? They should just have drop down boxes so it's easy for everyone then. Either that or show you the format exactly as they want it. That does remind me of an annoyance I have where something is asking what format you want your date displayed as and gives the examples as, 01/07/12 or 07/01/12 That doesn't help me decide as I don't know which the month and day is! Why not use a day over 12 so it is obvious it's not a month. So dumb. and it's happened several times recently.

would skype or google hangouts work? That's as face to face as you're going to get without being in the same room?

I wouldn't judge anything this early, especially considering any stock shortages skewing things, but PS4 outsold XO significantly in the UK last year, even though it came out a week later (significant in such a short time-scale of around one month). 530k vs. 364k. so a difference of 166k. XO first week sales also failed to beat PS3's first week sales from 2007. I wonder if UK will flip to have Sony's be the most popular console this gen? Either way I think neither will have a significant lead over the other over their lifetime, bar something major happening. UK was one of the few places the 360 outsold the PS3 so I wonder if MS will try especially hard to gain a lead here? They seem rather laise faire about the whole thing so far, though I wonder what the atmosphere is like behind the scenes.

"We'll have Mario Kart 8 out next spring, and at that point we'll have the whole lineup in place, so I think it's about time we brought out a new franchise. I can't give out details, but that's the title that's been keeping me pretty busy lately." (link) a few things about that quote, it makes it sound like Zelda isn't part of Nintendo's standard cycle of games. I'm guessing because it's probably built to less of a predictable schedule than their other games but hopefully they'll stop the current trend of releasing them at the tail end of the console's life - though I'd still like it to feel like a wii U game, not a souped up wii one. Has anyone heard any more details about the new franchise? I hope it's something meaty without "U" in the title. I don't even think I care what sort of genre it is, I would just like to know Nintendo are still capable of creating compelling new franchises that are relevant for current gamers. What would you hope for?

do any of those sorts of games actually play on Steam OS though? Are there any AAA that will run on the machine rather than stream from a windows PC? Have any publishers/developers said they will support it so you may see an elder scroll/BF/dragon age/witcher or anything of that ilk on it? That's the problem with a steam box as far as I can see... I keep getting (semi-) excited that I could get a hassle free PC gaming experience under my TV, and then I realise that I either have an unnecessary indie gaming box or a very expensive streaming machine that needs an expensive PC sat behind it. I may just be missing something but it doesn't seem to be an easy/cheap way to get in to PC gaming but more an expensive accessory for people who are already in to it and I can imagine a lot of people buying one firing it up and being extremely disappointed when they can't play half the games they bought it to play. ... since I took so long to write this it seems Dean's answered one of my questions, which just reinforces my point. I guess a few years down the line if the OS does well enough to get the support from major games I will look at it again.

guy re-enacts classic movie scenes with his boss's dog. I'm only posting it becasue of this one which absolutely cracks me up.

well I bought my first game of the year yesterday and I'm not off to a good start. It was the Wii U version of a link to the past. I didn't get very far in it on the wii but can have a proper crack at it now with the off screen play and I want to complete it so I can play a link between worlds, and because it's one of the few Zelda games I've not really played.
-
Since I just watched deathly hallows part one I can whole heartedly agree with that.
-
Jesus, I know I'm a bit of a Nintendo defender but even I found that embarrassing to read. One week of good sales (when Wii U is the only choice in Japan for a "new" home console) and this guy is saying Nintendo has won the generation... And he's boasting that they " continue to roll out more hard hitting titles " and then cites New Super Mario Bros U which is over a year old and boasts that it's just sold more than dead rising 3 that's only been out a month? He is completely deluded.

What Have You Received for [Holiday]?
TheFlyingGerbil replied to TheMightyEthan's topic in Off-Topic
I was pleased with all my presents this year. I did get a battleships shot game that I doubt I will ever use but it was from three friends at work that decided together to treat me "because you always make us nice things" so I genuinely a bit choked by the thought if not the gift itself. -
That's a good list of games you've played there. What was fragile moon like? I've got it tucked away in a cupboard somewhere but would have to dig out my gamecube or Wii to play it.
-
If they continue to sell at a slow rate would that mean they would never really reduce production costs without a redesign? Do Nintendo even do redesigns on home consoles? Apart from the Wii redesign where they took out the GC backwards compatability and that weird black and red thing they released last year I can only think of them making different colours for their other consoles, though I suppose they could improve the internals without advertising it as a new version of the console. Do you think they're more likely to make a redesign if they sell well or poorly?

in other words, I was right
