If you (the general "you") express a belief to me that I think is just completely stupid and ignorant, chances are good that no amount of debate is going to change your mind, so I am probably just going to mock you without mercy instead. This usually happens when I encounter prejudices that are steeped in religion.

Well even if it does do that, it's too late to change it now, regardless of what Sony said. I doubt they knew much more than the general public did about how the PS4 was going to work while they were making their own console.

Why does a console need game activation? I can't believe that console game piracy is such a widespread problem that they would feel the need to inconvenience every single one of their users like this. What I'm afraid of is that it's meant to stop used games more than piracy.

The steam comparison is moot because you can play most games just fine without a connection. My internet was out for about five days recently and steam could do everything I wanted it to except download new games.

I know this has been said a ton of times and it's easy to dismiss as nit-picking but I think it was a really bad idea to change it from the original Overstrike concept to what we have now. Even if your gameplay is fairly generic, sometimes your game can still be salvaged by cool characters, a clever script, or a pretty, eye-popping art style. It can all come together to make the game something something memorable despite its lack of originality in other areas. But when you make the ENTIRE game generic because you think you will appeal more to "teh hardcorez" that way, it tends to please nobody. I have yet to see anyone say they like the new style more than the old one. Now, it's still possible to like the game, I'm sure, and if you do then I'm glad and I hope it gives you many hours of entertainment, but it's really hard to claim that this new aesthetic is an improvement. That said, I'm willing to admit that it's possible the demo was just a really poor representation of the final product. Maybe it'll turn out that the full game IS really good and a must-own, but I did not come away from the demo with that kind of optimism.

I don't always WANT to win by military victory but those pricks make it really difficult to do it any other way sometimes.

The thing that drives me nuts about Civ V, as much as I love it, is how I'm pretty much forced to conquer all my neighbors militarily and then when they're down to one city and I offer them mercy, they demand tribute in return. THEY DEMAND TRIBUTE IN EXCHANGE FOR ME ALLOWING THEM TO LIVE.

I really like Insomniac and I really want to like this game but god damn that demo was underwhelming.

You know, the PS4 is heading in pretty much the exact opposite direction by building this stuff directly into their next console. You'd think Nintendo would at LEAST take the wait and see approach. I literally cannot think of a single good reason for them to be doing this.

Ugh. Unfortunately, yes. It looks awful. Even keeping the target demographic in mind, it looks like the exact kind of thing that the original show was conceived to defy.

I just don't see why it's necessary in the first place. They can't possibly need the revenue that badly.

Even if Nintendo has the legal right to do this, it's kind of a dick move. On top of that, it's a stupid one. The Wii U needs all the exposure it can get right now and this doesn't give those gaming youtube channels much incentive to record, review, or discuss Nintendo games.

These things are everywhere right now. I haven't seen such clever viral marketing in ages.
