  1. Good grief, Nioh is even harder than Bloodborne was. It took me a whole day just to beat the first mission's boss, and that was WITH people I had summoned to help me. Even the overleveled people kept getting killed. I eventually beat the bastard by using hit and run moves, but damn was it hard. I chalk a lot of that up to the combat. Compared to your average Souls game, there's a lot more going on here you have to work with. Each weapon can be wielded in high stance for power, low stance for speed, or mid stance for a balance of the two. So not only do you need to pick the right weapon for the job, but also the right way to use it. That's on top of the magic and ninja skills you can learn, which have their own upgrade categories to manage. As if that's not enough, if you run out of stamina then you can't even move until you're out of the red, but you can instantly get back lost stamina if you hit R1 at the right time after an attack. Mastering all of these systems is mandatory to get anywhere with this game, and it sure as hell isn't easy to grasp at first, but damn does it look cool when you figure it out.
  2. Bloodborne I had a much better time with this than I did with Demon's Souls, though some of the things I griped about with that game still apply here. It's too easy to get lost, there's no attempt whatsoever to convey the story to the player, and farming for healing items can be a chore. Also, this game introduced a new thing I hate with the Frenzy status, which fills up a bar EXTREMELY quickly if you just walk too close to certain kinds of enemies, taking off NINETY PERCENT of your health when it fills up. Walking away doesn't even save you because the bar continues to fill up until you've taken the full amount of frenzy damage. Bullshit! And the items to cure frenzy are really expensive, too! That said, I didn't have to hateplay my way through this one. I enjoyed it for the most part, especially since the more aggressive combat helped with the pacing.
  3. Why the hell was this not part of the Switch conference? This is a HUGE deal. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G920A using Tapatalk
  4. I'm liking Bloodborne a lot more than I liked Demon's Souls, although it still has its share of bullshit. I'm kind of tempted to pick up Nioh after I finish to try another game in this style.

Bloodborne really clicked for me right out the gates. It had a speed and rhythm to it that was good. I'll be starting Nioh after i finish World of FF, but most of what I've about it has been quite positive.

The only thing that truly bothered me about Bloodborne was Blood Vial farming. If you ever reached a boss who gave you difficulty, you more than likely had to spend a few trips through Lower Yharnam collecting Blood Vials as there was no renewable health recovery item like the Estus Flask.

Blood Vial and Silver Bullet farming was an odd decision. Especially when Estus was such a good implementation. It just seems so unnecessary.

  5. Watch those microaggressions, Link.
  6. This is Nintendo you're talking about. The GOTY edition will cost 80 dollars and will continue to cost 80 dollars until the Switch is dead.
  7. I borrowed a copy of Bloodborne, figuring I'd give the series another chance even though I didn't like the last Souls game I played. I'm not doing great so far because I'm still stuck in the first area. It's not because I keep dying, but because I have no idea what the fuck to do. There has to be a boss around here somewhere but damned if I can find him.
  8. The statues are cumulative at least, so when you play it again you only have to get that one.
  9. Metro: Last Light Pretty good to finally get this one off the backlog. I already have 60% of the trophies for both games in the redux collection so I might just go back and get the platinum for them both. edit: BOOOO. There's a glitch or something in Metro 2033 which prevents one of the trophies from unlocking, which means I'll never be able to platinum it. There goes all my interest in replaying it.
  10. Anybody else try that For Honor beta? It's actually kinda fun when the matchmaking actually works.
  11. Seeing that I've been going through some of my backlog while waiting for Horizon to come out, I decided to start Metro: Last Light. I got the Redux collection for the PS4 a while back (this was before I got my new pc) and while I did beat the first game, I never got around to the second.
  12. Broken Age was sitting there on my PS4 from a previous PS+ month and I'd never gotten around to beating it so I went ahead and did that and got the platinum while I was at it.
  13. Zenimax is seeking an injunction to stop sales of the Oculus Rift. Oculus are in trouble, aren't they?
  14. I'm getting a pretty decent refund this year and since I have no debts to pay off or major purchases to save up for, I'm getting pretty tempted to get a PS VR...

You've already played the hell out of the only worthwhile game for it, though.

Also maybe just save up. Not like the PSVR is going to get pricier or less games for it.

  15. Ethan Must Die? More like "Ethan Is Just Strongly Encouraged to Die." Back at 100%! Suck it, RE7!
  16. I tried it a few times. Haven't beaten it yet. I feel like I probably could with enough practice but I want to get Night Terror mode out of the way first.
  17. I miss the Earthbound system where low level enemies would not only run away, but if you ran into them anyway you would just automatically win since it's obvious that they're no threat to you. Of course, that wouldn't really work in a game about catching monsters, but there are plenty of other RPGs where it would.
  18. Just two more trophies in the DLC to go and I'll be back at 100%! My obsessive compulsive disorder compels me!
  19. We never got a game from the Helghast side. It was so obvious and yet they never did it.
  20. I picked up the season pass for RE7. I don't buy many season passes, but I liked this game enough to play it six times and still want more, so I figured it's probably a safe investment.
  21. Ohhh yeah. It changes up a lot of things pretty much to ensure you can't blaze through it just by being used to the normal mode.
  22. Cool, I might grab it on sale, then. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G920A using Tapatalk
  23. I was curious about The Evil Within but it seemed to get kind of a middling reception so I never got around to it. Would you say it's overblown?
