  1. I miss the Earthbound system where low level enemies would not only run away, but if you ran into them anyway you would just automatically win since it's obvious that they're no threat to you. Of course, that wouldn't really work in a game about catching monsters, but there are plenty of other RPGs where it would.
  2. Just two more trophies in the DLC to go and I'll be back at 100%! My obsessive compulsive disorder compels me!
  3. We never got a game from the Helghast side. It was so obvious and yet they never did it.
  4. I picked up the season pass for RE7. I don't buy many season passes, but I liked this game enough to play it six times and still want more, so I figured it's probably a safe investment.
  5. Ohhh yeah. It changes up a lot of things pretty much to ensure you can't blaze through it just by being used to the normal mode.
  6. Cool, I might grab it on sale, then. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G920A using Tapatalk
  7. I was curious about The Evil Within but it seemed to get kind of a middling reception so I never got around to it. Would you say it's overblown?
  8. I see a lot of people comparing Resident Evil 7 to games like Amnesia and Outlast (usually unfavorably) and saying that RE7 is just another game about running away and hiding, but I really can't agree with this assessment for one simple reason. Resident Evil has weapons. Yeah, I know that's pretty obvious, but I think that's why I like RE7 better than those other games. For me, it's not about just liking to shoot guns (though I do like shooting guns). I think that having some means to fight back helps the pacing immensely. In Outlast, you are completely defenseless, which a lot of people say is scarier. I understand that, but I can't say I agree. It's scarier at first, I suppose, but the longer the game goes on, the more annoyed I get that my progress is dictated by whether or not the spooky monster is currently standing in front of whatever item or puzzle I need to move on. You can't continue the game until the monster or inmate or whatever moves away, so eventually I'll be crouching under a table or something, groaning and going "Come on! Fucking move already!" It totally breaks the flow of the game, as well as any immersion i might have had. I think the reason I enjoy RE7 so much is that it gives you the means to just barely fight back. Once you get good at the game you can probably find enough ammo to blow through most encounters, but I've seen plenty of first time players run out of ammo at a critical moment because they freaked out and starting spraying and praying. If they get their progress blocked, it's their own fault for losing their cool. I think that's a lot more interesting than hiding under a table and waiting. The way I see it, having a weapon that you empty sloppily and ineffectively into a monster because you lost your nerve can be just as intense as having no weapon at all.
  9. I find it strange that Nintendo is already eager to jump on the VR train, which I'm still not sure has fully left the station, when it took them over a decade to finally embrace mobile devices, which are ubiquitous.
  10. If I'm just gonna play devil's advocate for a moment, this is also a lot of firsts for Zelda, isn't it? I don't believe they've really done a true open world like this before. They sorta gave the illusion of one in several games, but the 3D Zelda games have always been a series of closed off levels connected by a hub, as far as I can remember. It's been a while since I played Twilight Princess so I could be wrong. It's not a new franchise, obviously, but it is a rather revolutionary new take on it, at least for Nintendo. What has you convinced that they know how to do an open world game?
  11. I own both a Wii U and a PS4 and I'm picking Horizon over Zelda unless it turns out to be crap, which would surprise me. I still have concerns that Zelda's open world will be barren and lifeless based on what footage I have seen.
  12. I've been watching A Series of Unfortunate Events on Netflix and really enjoying it so far. I raised my eyebrow a little at the idea of NPH playing Count Olaf, but he's doing a great job.
  13. Platinum achieved! Resident Evil 7, I have officially made you my bitch.
  14. Yeah I'm using a YouTube guide just to be completely sure. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G920A using Tapatalk
  15. I used a collectibles guide for that very reason. I already had to do the Mr. Everywhere statues twice because I somehow missed one before. They carry over to new saves for the trophy but I don't know if it counts for unlockables so I ended up getting all 20 all over again just to be safe. Now I'm trying to get all the coins in Madhouse mode (33 vs 18 in the other modes), which means going out of my way to visit dangerous areas I wouldn't visit otherwise. No way am I going to do that twice because I missed some one-time-only coin.
  16. I dunno. I never died, I ran past any non-key items that weren't directly in front of me, I barely touched the item box, I used shortcuts whenever possible, I ran past most enemies, and I killed the bosses really fast. I can't say I did anything else particularly special. I also charted a path so that I went directly from point A to point B with minimal wandering around. I also didn't spend much time getting chased around. I ran right past them for the most part and ate some damage if I had to. I only bothered fighting enemies if they were blocking my path and I couldn't go around them.
  17. I was never really into the Ace Combat series before but knowing that it's going to support PS VR intrigues me.
  18. I think, I THINK the unlockables work like this. This is currently unconfirmed but it's what I infer from my own experience. If you want some speedrun tips, I can give you the following pieces of advice that shaved off a lot of time for me.
  19. Did you try doing the mansion without ever tipping off Jindosh? It's a totally different experience. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G920A using Tapatalk
  20. I was going for the 4 hour thing. As long as you know exactly where to go and you don't backtrack too much, there's a generous amount of room for error. Pausing the game also stops the timer so you can take a moment to get your bearings. There's no difficulty requirement for the trophy so obviously you'll want to do it on easy.
