  1. I like GoG a lot but at this point I have too much invested in my Steam account to do that. I don't really mind double dipping every now and then to support them a little, though. I bought Thief 1 and 2 the second they popped up on Steam but that didn't make me regret having already bought them on GoG. Anyway, more purchases Was on my "maybe" list, 15$ seemed like a decent price. Glad to see Telltale finally decided to include everything in a single app. Was getting kind of tired of getting a separate game listing every time they released a new episode for something. Also grabbed this when it was a flash deal. Because fucking Batman, man. And with that, I've officially exhausted my (very limited) budget. Kind of amazed I managed to last this long with less than fifty bucks, to be honest. Fortunately, this is only a minor setback as I finally got around to selling that stack of games I'd been meaning to get rid of for a couple months. Should be back in business tomorrow. Stupid bank is closed at this hour, so I can't go make the deposit now.
  2. Oh. My. God. A Deadpool game. O_O Just... please. Don't suck. Please.

But developed by the guys who made War for Cybertron, which I hear is quite good.

Deadpool has been in a ridiculous number of games. He's portrayed as really awesome in a majority of them.

  3. Oh fuck yes! I was so pissed when it didn't win the community vote and was really hoping it would come back as a flash or daily deal. It was pretty much the only big title I was on the lookout for, too. So hopefully my wallet can relax a bit now.
  4. Red DLC. As awesome as this game is, 10 bucks seemed a bit overpriced for it. But for 2 bucks it's an instant buy.
  5. Grabbed this earlier today Was tempted last time it was on sale and ended up not getting it but at 3 bucks it was kind of a no-brainer. Also grabbed just now I kinda wanted to buy it when it was a flash deal for 5 bucks but I've already played it on PS3 so I decided not to. Then a few mins ago I saw that it's also 5 bucks on Green Man Gaming and it's a Steam key so I used a promo code I had to knock an additional buck off the price and just used my store credit to get it. GMG is really growing on me lately.
  6. Mirror's Edge 2 is probably my most wanted unannounced title right now Also, I remember hearing rumors that Relic are working on Homeworld 3. Didn't THQ grab the rights to the series a while back?
  7. Most games I've played this year so far were older titles. Only three new releases that I can think of so far: Mass Effect 3 Diablo 3 Max Payne 3 Personally, ME3 was good but nowhere near being a GOTY contender. Max Payne 3 was a stellar shooter but really didn't get the feel of the series right. So that leaves Diablo 3. It's flawed but it's a strong contender, imho. Honorable mention to Alan Wake. Doesn't count as a 2012 game since the 360 version came out two years ago but it's definitely my favorite title this year so far. And now that I think of it, American Nightmare actually is a 2012 title but it's really not on the same level.
  8. Decided to see if I could buy my Dark Knight Rises ticket in advance online, and I could! :o Even got to choose my seat! Now if you'll excuse me, I'll go rewatch my blurays of Begins and TDK :D

Not opening right. But what about two days before? Three days before? As a regular consumer this is acceptable pre-meditation time. To arrive there and be told "sorry tickets are sold out throughout the next week" would be really shitty. If the theater limits the amount of tickets being sold online so people still have a chance to go to the theater beforehand, then yeah that's fine

Sold out throughout the week is kind of an exaggeration. I don't think that's very likely to happen.

And for something as big a TDKR, yeah, 2-3 days is cutting it pretty close. And it's not like getting a different showing or night is much of an inconvenience, really.

In my town we only have one cinema. First day is already almost sold out.

  9. I can get Duke Nukem Forever literally for FREE using my Green Man Gaming store credit. Still not good enough.

Maybe this will help? GreenManGaming is supposed to have 25% off all PC games with the following promo code: 25OFF-ALLTH-EGAME

Hahaha, it's already down to five bucks, which is the amount of credit I have. Though I guess not having to use all my credit technically would make it a better deal.

  10. Digital copy from Blizzard's store. I originally wanted a boxed copy but at the last minute I realized I would very likely get charged insane brokerage fees by whichever carrier they used to ship internationally (I hate UPS so goddamned much). Which sucks since lately I've been kind of itching to get back into WoW and both Wrath of the Lich King and Cataclysm are on sale for 10 bucks each on there. But I don't want to get those digitally so I'll just have to shop around, I guess. :/
  11. The thing is, you're free to ignore the RMAH. It's there but you don't have to use it. I haven't. In more game-related stuff: finally got around to getting my main to level 60 today Took me a while as I've been playing it on and off in-between other games (mostly StarCraft) the past few weeks, and I hit a wall a few times in Nightmare and Hell (which I'm still in). But now that I reached Act III Hell, with Nephalem Valor and the adjusted drop rates from patch 1.0.3, I'm finally starting to get some decent gear and I don't think I'll get stuck again until Inferno. Also, that Nephalem Valor sure makes it hard to stop playing. Ended up playing all afternoon today, about 6 hours straight. Most I've played in a single day since launch week.
  12. Holy shit, Meet the Pyro is awesome!

Woops. Mentioning the delayed reaction of my sister to my mum, n what's going on "And he's giving giant lolipops out, but in reality he's planting a fire axe in the dudes skull" *brain to dean: What did you just say to your mum* "...but it's all cartoony of course"

      「Advent Chaos」

I wonder what her reaction to Madworld would be? I mean it IS kind of cartoon-y.

I think she'd look at the 18 rating n go "no".

  13. I wouldn't be surprised if it did. What they showed at MLG looked pretty refined, and I believe they've said in the past the SP is at 99% completion or something. Would make sense if they delayed release after this whole Diablo 3 fiasco, but that and some MP balancing seems to be the only things holding it back right now. According to recent interviews, it sounds like the SP is finished and the remaining 1% is all about balancing and fine turning the MP, which is slow and long. Something like StarCraft needs to be balanced for the pro level more than for the casual players, so they have to be very careful with it. But more importantly, I don't recall whether it was an official announcement or something that was said during an investors call or what, but a few months back they said that they were expecting to release 2 titles in 2012. Diablo III was obviously the first one and considering the Mists of Pandaria beta has been going on for a few months already whereas the HotS beta doesn't even have a starting date yet, it seems like MoP is much more likely to be the other one. So yeah, I'm not really holding my breath for an announcement any time soon. Would love to be proven wrong, though.
  14. StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty. Holy crap was that an awesome game. No doubt the most fun I've ever had playing an RTS campaign. Can't wait for Heart of the Swarm now. Sadly, I don't think it's very likely to release in 2012.
  15. So, I did my SC2 placement matches just now. Lost the first two, third opponent randomly left midway through and I won the last two (one of which played very poorly but was somehow in Gold league O_o) and I ended up getting placed in Silver league. I don't think this is going to end well...

  16. Then you really weren't being very clear. It seemed like you were saying "this hat is blue and this other hat is clearly red, so you can't compare the two!", which came across as kind of stupid. But just because some idiots make assumptions about what the game was going for doesn't mean there isn't a comparison to be made, even if we're only talking about the tone and dialog. I thought QC's dialog was pretty boring whereas it was one of Portal's biggest strength. And considering the two games are extremely similar in every other respect, it's not that far-fetched to say "I'm disappointed because the writing wasn't as good as in Portal", especially since it was created by the same person.
  17. Why? Because the narrator character isn't antagonistic? Because the humor is a bit more childish? I don't know, I really don't see anything there that drastically differentiates the two.
  18. So you meant dialog. That's more the tone than the writing, which encompasses more than just the spoken words But yeah, I don't feel like that invalidates the comparison at all. The game is basically a spiritual successor to Portal ( not sure if you know this, but Kim Swift is making QC and she was lead on the original Portal team that got hired by Valve).
  19. Well, what do you mean by writing specifically? The tone and type of humor is different for sure but the narrative structure (if you can even call it that) is identical: i.e. all the information and exposition is delivered by a single off-screen character constantly talking to you.
  20. It's not trying to be like Portal, it's exactly like Portal. The only major difference is the device you use to solve the puzzles, everything else is aesthetics and tone. But from a genre, structure and design perspective? Yeah, it's the same game. Haven't finished it yet but I'm more than halfway through so I'll probably be doing that later today. edit: Well, just finished it and it really does end quite abruptly. There's DLC on the way, though, so hopefully it picks up where the game ends.
  21. I'd definitely recommend V over IV if he's never played any Civ game before. The UI in V is much more friendly to newcomers and V is just more accessible overall. I bought IV last year and honestly couldn't get into it because I'm so used to V's cleaner UI. I keep meaning to give it another shot but every single time I just end up playing Civ V instead. And now that Gods & Kings is out, I don't see myself going back to IV anytime soon.
  22. Deus Ex series is currently 75% off on Steam. Definitely worth a look. Other than that, there's very likely going to be a massive summer sale on Steam in the coming weeks, so you might want to hold off on buying anything until then.
  23. I was about to say that I don't see why HotS would have an always-on requirement because it has nothing like the RMAH that calls for it, but then I remembered they're actually working on that marketplace thing for mods or maps or something. So, uh, I guess it could go either way. Not that it would make much of a difference to me, tbh. When Diablo III launched and the shitstorm happened, I started wondering why there hadn't been a similar outcry for SC2 since it also required me to log onto battle.net to play. That's when I found out about guest mode. I have no idea if Wings of Liberty boots you out of the campaign if you lose your connection while playing, though. Also, (and this is kind of off topic but whatever) I've finally started playing the WoL campaign and holy shit is it awesome! Gameplay and graphical improvements aside, the missions are so much more varied and fun than in the original!
  24. It always said June 19 for me. Perhaps you misread it? I mean, games usually come out on tuesdays, not mondays. This is actually the second game I've seen unlock at midnight on Steam recently, rather than some arbitrary time (used to me around 10AM for me), so I'm liking this new trend. Anyway, I wanted to give it a shot when it unlocked last night but was a bit too tired so I ended up only playing this afternoon. I'm loving the new systems but they're not very complex or game-changing. Religion especially seems like just a few bonuses you can pick depending on what kind of play-style you're going for. So far there doesn't seem to be huge benefits to actively spreading your religion all over the place, but I'm sure there's more to it than what I've seen so far. Espionage is a lot of fun, though.
  25. I know and I purposely didn't read it when I installed the game back then. If I'd wanted to read a plot summary instead of experiencing the story for myself I'd have just read it up on wiki long ago. Besides, the game is actually pretty good up until you get to those last few crushingly difficult missions
