  1. Just completed it as well and... that's one way to put it I thought the game was absolutely fantastic, for the most part. Right up there with Assassin's Creed II and Arkham City and any other sequels that improved upon the original in every conceivable way. The game is massive, the quest feels epic, combat feels great, the dungeons are smaller but there's a metric fuckton of them, decent amount of side-quests and optional bosses, etc.. Most of my issues (and minor ones at that) were about the story. Right up until the final boss, that is. After beating it a few minutes ago, the ending really left a bad taste in my mouth. And considering that THQ's future is looking pretty grim right now and that there's a chance we won't be getting a third one, that kinda pisses me off. I could go on but I'd just be ranting and I don't really want to do that because I actually really enjoyed the game. I'm just really disappointed by where they went with the story and how incomplete and abrupt the ending felt. On a more positive note, I finally got x360ce to work with my shitty gamepad! Thank god for that because m+kb controls were kinda janky. Reaper form wouldn't activate, for example. Also, not related to the game, but I think I might have actually fixed an issue that's been plaguing me for almost 2 years now! That should make my PC gaming significantly less frustrating.
  2. Yeah, the new Friends tab really does give a strong Facebook timeline feel. I don't hate it but it's gonna take some getting used to.
  3. Got into the new Steam Community beta. Also got an extra invite if anyone's interested.

I didn't' know they were going to do a beta. I just thought they were going to roll it out.

Yeah, I can't imagine it lasting very long before they release it to everyone.

Steam Community would be the community tab on steam, the friends, groups n such. As for beta, yeah surprised me too, probably no more than two weeks. Client updates are quick.

  4. I did put a status up about going in for a four-pack. Damn, missed that. :/
  5. I don't normally buy this kind of 15$ game day one, but this is Double Fine and I've been hoping for a PC release of this ever since it came out on XBLA so I went for it. Darksiders II unlocks in about an hour and a half, though, so it could be a few days before I give it a try.
  6. It took me 3 weeks because I just had more interesting things to play. Most of the game boils down to walking around looking for the right doll so I would get bored after an hour or so and wouldn't touch it again for a week. It's not bad but some variety would've helped. It did get a bit more interesting near the end, though. It could've used some more of that. It kinda feels like they got those ideas too late in development to implement them everywhere.
  7. Stacking. It was fun and I really liked the visual style but I thought it would be better. You know there's a problem somewhere when it takes you 3 weeks to beat a 4 hours game.
  8. That one wasn't a pre-order bonus, though. It came out months after the game.
  9. Yeah, I've been aching to start ACII but there's no way I'd be able to finish it by tuesday so I've been looking for less time consuming stuff. I was thinking of either trying to get back into L4D2 or maybe giving Blacklight: Retribution a shot. But now I think Hero Academy is going to keep me busy for a while. Had it less than 24 hours and already got 9 hours logged according to Steam. Damn thing kept me up all night. O_O A chunk of that is just having it running in the background while you do other stuff until your next round of turns, but once you got a few games going there isn't much downtime.
  10. Wow, missing the point entirely... The point is that there's different shit at each retailer, meaning there's no way to get the entire game without either buying it 15 times or pirating it. And that practice pisses me off. Yeah, but an argument could be made that you do, in fact, get an entire game regardless of where you pre-order. And the different shit each retailer offers is merely extraneous crap that adds little to nothing to the experience. And don't get me wrong, I agree that this practice needs to die. But I really don't buy into the notion that not getting a special piece of armor, weapon or even a self-contained mission makes the base game incomplete in any way whatsoever. They're not "missing pieces" of the cake, they're more like shit flakes sprinkled on top.
  11. Grabbed the 2-pack with CrowKnow. I'm enjoying it a lot so far, but I really wish it had a "live mode", I guess you could call it, where both players play a game from start to finish in a single session. Kinda sucks to play for half an hour only for the other guy to suddenly stop playing his turns.
  12. I've been mostly replaying "older" games on PC lately. I think I made a post about Arkham Asylum and I've also replayed the original Assassin's Creed (planning on replaying up to Brotherhood before ACIII comes out) and Darksiders. Also, I didn't feel like starting something too long after Darksiders since Darksiders II comes out next week, so yesterday I played through Breath of Death VII: The Beginning. It's a fun retro-style RPG, not much more to say. It's pretty short (about 5 hours) but it's dirt cheap and I don't think the idea could support a full-length RPG anyway so that didn't bother me too much.
  13. Yeah, like I said, couldn't find anything conclusive. I think I came across the same blog post, though. And yeah, when I saw the ads when I first installed it, it did kinda raise a red flag but I just shrugged it off. Probably shouldn't have... What sucks is it worked pretty flawlessly in all the games I tested it with. Kinda tempted to reinstall just to see if it really was the source of the infection. :/ But after spending all evening doing windows updates and reinstalling drivers and everything, I'm not taking that chance. Although, now that I think of it, I guess I could sacrifice my laptop. For science...
  14. Well, I can't be 100% certain MiJ was the cause, but I really can't think of anything else that might have caused this. I haven't done anything out of the ordinary or installed any other dodgy app recently other than MiJ. Anyway, here's what happened. I played Darksiders with my ds3 for a few hours this afternoon and stopped to eat dinner. Not long after, MSE gave me a warning about having detected something and needing to restart. Then it shut itself off and wouldn't come back on. Did some googling but nothing I tried worked. Then I realized Windows Firewall was also off and wouldn't come back on either. Didn't take long to confirm I had a trojan after that. Then MSE started forcing a reboot every minute or two unless I was in safe mode. I spent about two hours trying to get rid of it but nothing I used to scan could completely remove it so I just said screw it, backed up my stuff and formatted my windows partition. I didn't have much that needed backing up since I keep most of my important stuff on a separate partition from my windows install but it was still fucking annoying having to reinstall everything. I did some more googling but I couldn't find anything conclusive. For every story I find about someone having had a similar experience, there's 10 other people saying they've had no problem with MiJ. :/
  15. Well, had a bit of "fun" the past few hours... Think I'll be staying the hell away from Motion in Joy...
  16. That's possible, the driver not being signed definitely sounds familiar. Wow, that's bullshit. It was definitely not just the game in my case, though. The game seemed to recognized my "generic" pad as the 360 one. But I tested it with a bunch of other games before setting up MIJ and it was all over the place. Worked fine in one or two games but most of them detected it but had the problem where the camera would keep moving to one side. And I know the sticks were calibrated because when I checked in the gamepad's settings, everything was centered and responded properly. Then I tried an NES emulator and after binding everything some buttons still wouldn't work. But everything worked fine with an SNES emulator... including the sticks. That's when I got annoyed, unplugged the thing and put it away in a fucking drawer. Now it'll never see daylight again.
  17. Just installed MotionInJoy. It was pretty easy to set up and everything seems to work so far, including 360 emulation. Thanks for that suggestion. I'll stick to that for now and see how it goes. I hadn't really considered this because I remember trying some dualshock 3 driver a few years ago and it was all kinds of shit. It was a huge headache to set up and never worked right so in the end I just gave up and bought the gamepad I have now.
  18. I've been thinking about getting one for a couple of months. Also, just tried mine with Darksiders. Get this: it's automatically detected and I don't need to bind anything, but I also can't rebind. So far not that big a deal. Then I press A to load my game and am asked if I really want to quit. What. So I mess around a bit and realize that some of the face buttons are mixed up. B doesn't seem to be doing anything, A behaves as if it were B and X as if it were A. Yet Y seems to work normally. D-Pad does nothing but clicking one of the sticks brings up the weapon selection, which is what the d-pad should be doing. And speaking of the sticks, one of them isn't calibrated properly or something and causes the camera to constantly go to the left. Ugh, this fucking piece of crap...
  19. Yeah, I get that. Personally, I don't find this worth skipping a game that otherwise looks amazing over but I can't really blame anyone for getting fed up and drawing the line. That being said, with all the crap already surrounding the game's launch (what is it, like 6 different editions, each with its own exclusive content), I'm surprised that this one is what annoyed you enough to consider not buying the game.
  20. I doubt it. PS3 getting exclusive missions in Assassin's Creed games is nothing new. AC Brotherhood got that Copernicus Conspiracy DLC and none of the other platforms ever got it, not even the PC version that came out months later. The Copernicus one was pretty pointless, too. An average mission that just happened to feature an historical figure that had nothing to do with the game's story. So yeah, not too bothered by it either.
  21. Yeah, it seemed like a game that would need one. Problem is mine isn't the official 360 one and some games react weirdly to it. And my experience with x360ce has been pretty hit-or-miss. :/ But I'm about six hours in now and it controls surprisingly well with m/kb. I struggled a bit at first but once I got used to hitting left-alt with my thumb I didn't have any problems. I also replayed the original Assassin's Creed on PC recently and it handled much better than I expected without a gamepad. I wasn't yet 100% sure if I was gonna switch to PC for ACIII but now I am. Yeah, I also got one of them for free on GOG a while back.
  22. Already owned them on GOG but I always prefer to have my games on Steam. Finally got a good enough deal that I didn't mind double dipping. GOG is the only place where I don't mind doing that, though.

  23. What, you didn't like the twist about the vault?
  24. I'm tempted do that as well, mostly to see how I like the mouse and keyboard controls. I'm just worried that if Darksiders II ends up being not much of an improvement, then replaying the first one right before it comes out might affect my enjoyment of it.
