Also, I was actually headed to bed when I fired up my PSP for a few rounds of Street Fighter Alpha. I checked the store out of habit as I've been doing for the past few days but I didn't expect it to actually be up. Now I think I missed my window for falling asleep quickly :/

Advent, why not buy the UK release? That way you'll actually have a disc version.

  3. Finally got the game today. It's great so far, but I was wondering. Am I just being OCD or did you guys also feel the need to quit and restart the current section whenever you messed up a line of questioning during interrogations? It's starting to drive me nuts!
  4. UPS guy just dropped my copy of L.A. Noire :D This afternoon's gonna be fun fun fun!

  5. Review code? Isn't the game coming out in like august? Seems a bit early for reviews. I mean, why wouldn't they wanna use the next 2-3 months to polish it as much as they can? Also, am downloading it as well. Normally, I wouldn't. But in this case I can't help myself B)
  6. Hahahaha, true. It would be pretty amusing to see someone's thoughts evolve over the duration of their viewing of the show. I can easily imagine the posts getting less and less literate with every season as the levels of craziness increase. Fly was pretty good, especially for a bottle episode. But my favorites by far were "One Minute" and "Half Measure", if only for their last few minutes.
  7. Yeah, but wasn't the PSP kinda huge in Japan? I dunno, I just never considered to be that huge of a failure. At least not to the point of expecting them to distance themselves from the PSP name.
  8. Alright, the simple fact that this thread was dead last at the very bottom of this section tells me that nowhere near enough of you guys are watching this show! I am very disappoint. It's the best thing you'll ever watch, so get to it! For those of you who know what I'm talking about, have a nice season 4 trailer I can't embed it here, so you'll have to watch it on AICN http://www.aintitcool.com/node/49844
  9. I'm not crazy about the name Vita but it sounds much more normal to me than "Nintendo Wii" originally did, so I'm sure I'll get used to it in no time. I still don't get why they didn't just call it the PSP2, though.
  10. I normally don't sell or trade-in my games. Last time I did was God of War III after I had platinum'd it because I needed some cash, and I ended up eventually rebuying it. I never even unsealed the new copy... But yesterday I decided that my not owning and therefore being unable to play L.A. Noire could simply not go on anymore. So I went through my games and rounded up the few I was willing to part with. Most of them I never even finished or started, or will was never planning on playing again. Overall, it wasn't too bad a trade-off. The games I parted with were stuff like The Darkness, Ninja Gaiden Sigma and FFXII: Revenant Wings on DS. Oh and Guitar Hero 5, but without the guitar. I need that to play Rock Band Also a copy of Assassin's Creed II for 360, which is not even a system I own. Some idiot on Amazon sent it to me when I ordered the PS3 version last year and never asked for me to return it when he refunded me. The two biggest casualties sacrificed to the pawn shop deity were God of War: Chains of Olympus, which I'm confident will see a re-release as a HD Remaster, and Disgaea: Afternoon of Darkness, which I can rebuy for 15 bucks on PSN anytime I want.
  11. Never finished the first one either. Some of the later levels are just fucking impossible Like the one that has you removing blood clots and cleaning and suturing lesions all at once? Even when you do the pentagram time-slowing thingy it is nigh impossible. Oh man, it's been so long. I barely remember the level I was stuck on or what the procedure was even like. I vaguely recall something involving triangles and cutting? All I know is it was time-sensitive, so if I was too slow, stuff I had removed would grow back. I remember I'd always come close but it would inevitably just go to hell at the last second.
  12. Oh man, I knew that NG+ had an estimated 40% increase in difficulty, but holy shit! I did not expect to feel like I was level 1 all over again! I actually went through 1-1 without any trouble. It was fairly easy, though Phalanx didn't go down as quickly as I had expected. And I think that's what the problem was. I was overly careful during 1-1 because I needed to protect my 170K souls carried over from beating the game, and when I managed to make it through without losing them (or even dying once), I let my guard down. The reality check in 2-1 was pretty painful. Then I skipped ahead to 4-1 because I had spent a lot of time there in the previous run and figured I'd have an easier time beating it. Oh god how wrong I was... For a while there, it seemed as impossible as it did when I first played the game on release day. That was pretty demoralizing! Thankfully I soldiered on and eventually beat 2-1, and I actually went through 3-1 pretty easily. Haven't beat the Fool's Idol yet, though. And the black phantom right before her was a bit tricky. But yeah, this is turning out to be a bigger challenge than I had anticipated! I really need to raise my Endurance so I can start wearing some heavier armor and still be able to roll around like crazy. I've had most of my current gear since about midway through the first run, and it's really starting to feel like I need to replace it.
  13. Never finished the first one either. Some of the later levels are just fucking impossible
  14. I somehow missed your post when I replied, so I found that out the hard way. Bastard took 2-3 levels. Kicked his ass in the end, though! Really? I read that so long as I avoid dying in body form in a world, it should go pure white once I killed its archdemon. So shouldn't it be easy to achieve by simply suiciding in the nexus whenever I regain my body? Or am I missing something here?
  15. Demon's Souls! That's a big one to check off the backlog! I kinda regret taking so long to finish it, though. I regularly came across other player's ghosts, but only a handful of times per level. I remember playing on launch day and you'd see ghosts everywhere. Kinda wish I'd played more regularly when the game was more alive :/ Now it's time for New Game + and all the rage the higher difficulty will inevitably cause!
  16. Metalcaveman has covered the weapons special properties, so just to clarify why I suggest always carrying one (once you get to a higher level). Generally, if you get invaded, it's by someone with good equipment who knows what they're about. Because the scraping spear wrecks durability it will in all likelihood cost them more in souls to repair their equipment than they are going to gain by killing you, so most of the time you can avoid PvP combat by brandishing it with intent. Yeah, that's what I figured. I still haven't made the scraping spear, though. Didn't seem like too much of a priority considering I played in soul form most of the time. I only got invaded once, it was in 1-4, right after I'd defeated the Penetrator and had just walked into the area ahead to have a quick look. The fog appeared just as I was heading back to the archstone and I somehow got stuck in it. So it was basically like shooting fish in a barrel for that guy... Anyway, I was actually thinking I would do my NG+ offline, so I could do the Pure White World Tendency Stuff.
  17. Just got murdered twice by the final boss of Demon's Souls. Fuck that guy. Fuck him right in his fucking face.

Well maybe I just need to figure out his pattern. But he killed me pretty damn fast.

It really hurt the ego more than anything because for the second half of the game I started finding most bosses to be damn easy, so I thought I was overleved or something. Then that guy comes along and just wipes the floor with me. >:(

    3. RockyRan

      RockyRan

Wait, what? Literally the final boss? You mean the one that's designed to be the easiest boss of the entire game?

      toxicitizen

Nah, I meant the False King (1-4).

When I wrote the status update, I was unaware there was another one after it.

I still haven't beaten him, but I came close.

I got his timing down, I think. Should be able to finish the game tomorrow.

Then it's New Game +. New levels of punishment and rage!

  18. So, after a few failed attempts at getting back into it, I finally made some serious progress in Demon's Souls! I'm almost done with my first playthrough, which is kinda pathetic considering I had originally pre-ordered the game and have owned it since the North America release, but whatever. Better late than never. Anyway, so I've completed World 2 and 3 and have only 4-3, 5-3 and 1-4 left to do, in that order. I'm pretty sure those are only boss rooms and have no exploration whatsoever, so I could realistically finish the game today. But before I do that, I was wondering if there are any things I should make sure to do before I finish my first playthrough. Items to get or whatever? Stuff that will be harder to get in subsequent runs. Any World Tendency stuff is off the table, though, since I'm mostly in the neutral zone and have no hope of achieving pure white or pure black in this one.
  19. Yeah, having the costume be 100% CG was a weird idea. I'm still not sold on it. I don't know... if it stands out weirdly for the whole duration of the film it could seriously damage the experience. Hopefully when watching the whole movie I'll just "forget" about it and stop noticing how it looks weird.
  20. Oh, damn. Forgot to update. Thanks. And yeah, it does explain a lot of the mythology. But I think that was kind of necessary. Green Lantern isn't exactly Batman or Superman. And I think it can seem very strange to someone who's never heard of him before.
  21. So, are the Raptors coming at midnight? Or later in the day? I'm asking because I spent most the day sleeping (it's almost midnight, and I woke up an hour ago O_o), so I wanna know how much time I got left so I can plan accordingly! Meh, actually I think I'll just keep watching the first season of Community. That show is pretty good!

  22. Okay, I have no idea how to embed this, so I'll just link to it for now, but Ain't It Cool News have posted a new trailer. What makes this one important is that it's the first one that really drives across the scale of the movie/GL universe. Even gives a crash course on the mythology. If you were on the fence because it all looked so weird, I think this is the trailer that might convince you to give it a shot. http://www.aintitcool.com/node/49728 I'll update with an embed once the trailer finds its way to youtube.
  23. I completely agree with the first part. When I first heard about Ledger's casting, I was underwhelmed, to say the least. And see how that turned out. Nolan has definitely earned himself some blind trust at this point. Though my apprehension at Ledger's casting had nothing to do with "living up to Nicholson". I don't want to say his take on the character was ass... but once I familiarized myself with the real Joker, I stopped liking Nicholson's version. There is just way too much scenery chewing going on in that performance. He managed to take a character that is basically a clown, and turn it into a caricature. I still love Burton's Bat-movies a lot. They're just not in the same league as the Nolanverse.
  24. Hahaha, I know, right? I actually teared up a bit when . Other than that, I read the first arc (7 issues) of Ultimate Spidey and I really loved it. So far Ultimate X-Men isn't quite as good, but it's not bad either. Anyway, enough superheroes for tonight. Time to get back to Ex Machina, which... I guess is technically about a retired superhero so, umm... Yeah.
