PSN users' personal details compromised
toxicitizen replied to excel_excel's topic in PlayStation Games
Thanks, that did it. Still, I distinctly remember the games saying 'demo' on the XMB, so it was odd it was removed after redeeming the free game promotion. That's because Wipeout is one of those games that upon buying it you only download the demo and an unlock key. When I redeemed it, 3 things were added to my download list: Wipeout HD demo, Wipeout HD unlock key and Wipeout HD Fury Add-On. I remember a while back I had tried a demo of a game (not 100% sure, but I think it was Castle Crashers) and liked it, so I went to buy it. But I first deleted the demo, worried that it might interfere or something (I can't really explain the reasoning either...). Then when I bought the full game, I had to redownload the damn demo -
Yeah, that bird demo looked merely normal. Not impressive by any stretch of the word.

So the new controller would be basically kind of an "accesory" and the Wii-mote remains the regular controller? Sounds more and more like a simple Wii HD. Especially if it's limited to a single screen controller. I never got around to buying a Wii but I might be tempted to get this after a price drop of two.

GMT -5 and I'm definitely in if we're playing Wipeout HD. I'm loving the hell out of it. Though I turned off Pilot Assist last night and now I keep hitting the sides, so yeah, no that great yet either. I think a few of you are already on my friends list? So many people got added to it when we started playing Uncharted 2 a few months ago that it's hard to keep track...
-
Has it been confirmed that we would need to buy two versions of the game for that? I was wondering the same thing for the PSP HD Remaster line. Will the HD version also get me a PSP copy? If not, it's kind of pointless to have save files be compatible. If they really expect people to buy two versions of the same games they're going to be very disappointed.

In terms of horsepower, it is behind, though. It's only slightly more powerful than the GameCube. I'm not saying it wasn't innovative or anything like that. But it's a fact that its hardware is weak in comparison to the other current-gen systems.
-
So... this is basically the console they should've released back in 2006? Good for them, I guess. Now they'll also get the games we've all been playing for the past few years. The new controller has potential, of course. But it's like the size of a fucking tablet pc. I'm surprised it kept the Wii name, though. I'd say it seems unlike Nintendo, but we just got the 3DS. The name does carry some brand recognition for all the non-gamers who bought a Wii, I guess. But I don't think those people are ready to buy a new system so soon. But like the 3DS it doesn't really feel like a new gen to me (unless you account for the fact that the Wii was kind of a gen behind). But the 3DS and this both feel more like upgrades to existing systems than true successors.

Why Legend of Legaia is the best game in Playstation history.
toxicitizen replied to Chewblaha's topic in PlayStation Games
Yet another PSOne-era RPG that I need to play... Oh well, hopefully it'll see a PSN release someday because I don't see myself hunting down a copy. Oh and even though this feels like stepping on a landmine, I have to ask: what's so bad about Uncharted ? How exactly does it "prove what's wrong with games" ? -
I was a bit disappointed when Zindagi's new game turned out to not be Sports Champions 2. Their medieval adventure thing looked decent, I guess. But I was hoping for some new sports.

Wifi model it is, then!

Ah okay. That makes sense, but pretty much everywhere I read about it they said the conference was going to last 5 hours. Seemed pretty crazy, to be honest. As for 3G, I loved how people started booing when they announced AT&T but then it sort of turned into a half-hearted cheer at the last second. I have to say, internet everywhere is damn tempting. But if you have to pay some kind of monthly fee in addition to the 50$ more on the base price, then fuck that.
-
What's the benefit of 3G anyway? Internet anywhere? I never even had a cellphone, so I have no idea how it even works.
-
Man, Sony had a pretty strong showing. Though wasn't it supposed to last 5 hours? It seems to have ended... all I'm seeing on the IGN stream is a fat DJ.
-
Didn't I recently see you rage about someone using a similar phrase recently? Something about it being a pet peeve of yours? And no, you're not the only one. A Quantic Dream reveal/announcement during the Sony presser would very likely make the show for me.

Forgot to post it but I got around to completing Enslaved earlier this week. Overall it was pretty great. Story was decent and the ending was very satisfying. It was an interesting take on Journey to the West. I wouldn't mind a sequel. The combat seemed a bit unforgiving sometimes, but that might be only because I played it on hard on my first run. Once I figured out how to deal with groups of enemies it was much more manageable.

Yahtzee said the same thing , but who said it first. Hmmm, then it's possible I got them mixed up and attributed the quote to the wrong person. Actually, I just did a quick search on PA's website and it seems like Mike/Gabe is a huge fan of the artist who worked on Darksiders, so it must've been Yahtzee who said it.

Haha. Same thing happened to me but I was still on the Traffic desk at that point. It's a bit odd that it limits how many you can have and that you earn them via levelling up, but there's also a max rank...and you gain experience from anything...yet they completely refill for when you replay a case. It's almost as if they put no thought into it. Seems like they should've handed one out for every five correctly judged responses or something like that. Agreed. Team Bondi deserves a lot of credit for the originality of the gameplay alone, but some aspects of it are still a bit rough. There's definitely room for some improvement if (or rather when) they make a sequel.

Yeah, but sometimes I just can't help myself I think it's a mistake to have the game tell you immediately when you get a question wrong. Would be better and less tempting if they only told you once the interrogation was over, or even at the very end of the case. I'm on the Homicide desk now. So far loving it, even though it's pretty obvious that I would be further along, but I started over 5 hours in. One of the reason was that I was under the mistaken impression that whenever I earned an intuition point, all it did was raise the maximum amount I could have, and that they refilled with every new case. Turns out that was wrong and I had wasted a bunch of them. But the main reason was that I had played those five hours on the day I got the game and had reached the Homicide desk. Then the next day the PSN store came back so I could redeem my free DLC and buy the Rockstar Pass to get the other cases. Turns out two of them were Traffic desk and if I played them from the main menu I wasn't getting any XP from them, so I figured I'd start over. What is weird, though is that starting over didn't reset my stats. So the first few newspapers I grabbed and dispatch calls I answered didn't really count in the new game. I also started the new game already at level 7 or 8, so I ended up getting the XP for the early cases twice.

hmm, I guess I could try and regain access to the old EU account I made to get the Killzone 2 demo early a few years ago. Problem is I've no idea which email address I used (if even a real one). edit: ha! managed to retrieve it! Though for some reason its region is France. Kinda wish I'd done England. I got LBP through it, downloading it now. hope it won't be in french :/ Oh and I took a quick look around that region's store and saw a demo for No More Heroes: Heroes' Paradise. Unless I'm completely blind, I don't think that's available in North America? Downloading it as well -

Perhaps you managed to redeem the free game option but got an error before you could choose your game? It also happened to me. They gave a workaround on the ps.blog -

Yeah, Super Stardust HD would've been a no-brainer if I didn't already own it. Dead Nation is actually made by the same developer. I gave it a quick try earlier and it seems decent enough. I'm loving the hell out of Wipeout HD so far, too! But it would take more than that to keep me away from L.A. Noire at the moment. There is currently no demo, because as of yet my plans for global domination haven't extended that far. Even a small micro-nation in Indonesia. -

Yeah, it's a fucking pain in the ass to access right now. You get like 9 errors in a row regardless of which section you're trying to access. After fighting with it for like 20mins, I finally managed to pick my two PS3 games and one PSP game. Went with the WipeOut HD bundle and Dead Nation. I had been considering LBP, but when I saw it wasn't GOTY I said fuck it. I picked Killzone: Liberation for PSP, but I have no idea what I should get for the other one. LBP and MNR feel... pointless on PSP. And that other Pursuit game looks decent, but I had never heard of it prior to this, so I'm hesitant. -
MGS, ZOE and Silent Hill HD collections!
toxicitizen replied to excel_excel's topic in Multi-Platform Games
Even though I'd been hoping for it to happen ever since Sony first started these HD collections, the Silent Hill Collection seems like a wasted opportunity. No HD and Move-enabled Shattered Memories, I can understand. They can still release it on its own, I guess. But no Silent Hill 4? Why? I get that it wasn't the most popular SH title, but still, now it makes the whole thing feel incomplete. -
PSN store's return couldn't have been timed better! I just started L.A. Noire yesterday, so I'm not too far into it. Just bought the Rockstar Pass and am downloading all the DLC

I agree with the sentiment in general but I gave Darksiders a pass because it had a more comic book-like art style as opposed to Gears' more photorealistic approach. So it didn't seem as weird-looking to me. That being said, I think Gabe from Penny-Arcade Yahtzee put it best when he once said that War looked like "someone started drawing him and never stopped".
