  1. I'm sort of the opposite of that. I "get" the game well enough, I just need to work on my speed, really. But put me on a real drumkit or even in freestyle mode and.... I need the game to tell me what to play otherwise I just don't know what the hell I'm doing.
  2. Recently started playing again two games I hadn't touched in a while. BlazBlue: Calamity Trigger and Rock Band 3 on drums. BlazBlue, what can I say, I played a few hours last night and again today and the tip of my thumb still hurts. As for Rock Band, it's been a few months since I played drums but somehow I'm better than I was before. I was previously stuck on medium but now I started working my way through RB3's setlist on hard and haven't hit a wall yet. It's weird but I found that taking an extended (but not too long) break from the game can actually help you get better when you're stuck. I guess it's because you keep the muscle memory but lose the bad habits you developed on lower difficulties. Or something like that.
  3. I also like how the IGN review praised the game's originality. That's something too far few games dare experiment with and I was happy to see they it acknowledged. Some of my favorite games this gen were the more unusual titles. Flawed but unique games like Mirror's Edge or even L.A. Noire. I still love me some Uncharted, Dead Space and Call of Duty, but you always know what to expect with those games.
  4. Actually, I'm pretty sure there was. Or, at the very least, there's a trailer that exists and people have seen it. I'm just waiting for the trailer to become available online...
  5. Well, you're obviously a fanboy then! Kotaku are objective. Because they are journalists. I don't get your attitude. If anything it was a completely subjective statement. One that is believed by the writer of the article and not that it is fact. That's why I still read Kotaku along with other sites... multiple viewpoints and opinions. Objectivity is boring anyways. Eh, I was making a joke. I'm not sure how you didn't get that. But like Dean said, that statement was hardly presented as being an opinion. It was stated as fact. And yes, I do expect objectivity coming from journalists. Kotaku's writers only barely qualify as journalists, though, but that's beside the point. How about unprofessional then?

      Yeah, I wasn't 100% sure when I typed it...

  8. Those have been running for a while, yeah. But I don't think they're exclusively about Japan. Can't say I ever read any of them, though.
  9. Yeah, I was coming to mention this. Seems like an especially bad choice for Speak-Up... I really can't tell whether it was picked as a joke or not.
  10. Actually just caught it on youtube and was coming to edit my post accordingly. Guess that's a no on Pixar, then. Looks decent enough, but the trailer doesn't have that little something to get me fired up about the project yet.
  11. I'd actually figured you worked in the industry from a few of your previous posts, WTF. That's pretty cool. If I can't make it into the computer science program I'm hoping to get into, then I think my second choice will be film studies. As for John Carter, is the trailer online? I've been looking forward to that one for a while. Is it still being made by Pixar?
  12. IGN gave it a 9.0 That's honestly higher than I expected. Not that I thought the game would be bad or anything like that. I just didn't think it would score that high.
  13. Who's vilifying Joel now? All anyone did was comment on how crazy the accusation towards Dean was and how suddenly Joel backed out of the discussion. I think everyone realizes that it's Crecente making the accusation, not Joel.
  14. Nah the sender's name was definitely yours (Dean Bowes). Though now that I'm checking again, I think it might not even be an invite The mail looks more like a notification that you posted a comment, so you must have had already added me to your circles at that point. But I'm 100% sure I did not have a google+ account prior to that, and I set it up by clicking on a "Learn more about Goggle+" button in that email. Though if you did use the email I have registered on here, then I guess google somehow knew it was mine and worked its magic?
  15. gplus.to/FLD I don't think I ever thanked Dean for the invite. So thanks, Dean! Though I am curious about one thing. I kept checking the hotmail inbox for the address I used to register here, and the invite wasn't coming. Then I checked one of my gmail inboxes, and the invite was in there. What am I missing here? How'd you get that address?
  16. Excellent book. Absolutely love Vonnegut. I preferred Cat's Cradle to Slaughterhouse-Five, though. Haven't read a book in a while, sadly. I actually have a few books I started a while back and haven't finished yet, one of which is Fahrenheit 451 :/ I also really need to read the final Dark Tower book But right now I'm reading the horror manga Uzumaki. I'm only a few chapters in but it's already pretty fucked up!
  17. Yeah, it'd be cool if he started posting here, I guess. But considering what happened, I'm not so sure he will. Who knows, though.
  18. Well, the first teaser poster for The Dark Knight Rises is out and Ho. Ly. Shit. That is the very definition of epic. O_O I really hope the rumors about the teaser trailer coming out as soon as next week (attached to Harry Potter) turn out to be true!
  19. Rewatched Slither tonight. Man, that movie is awesome. Nathan Fillion, why u no in more movies?!!??

    1. Johnny

      Johnny

Because he's largely a TV actor and only known in nerd circles.

      deanb

Nah, Castle has changed the circles he's known in.

And it's about damn time! He's way too handsome for us nerds to keep him all to ourselves!

  20. So, I guess Joel won't be posting here after all? Though he does seem to be reading this. I checked his profile a couple of times today and the "last activity" time changed a few times.
  21. Well, that would explain it, but holding Dean responsible for something someone else said would be pretty unreasonable. Does Crecente feel responsible for all the inane shit commenters say on a daily basis? I seriously doubt it.
  22. You know, if I was paranoid, I might be tempted to say that this looks like Joel initiated contact, then was told "No, don't bother with that guy" and then used the first excuse he found to back out of it. Like Dean said, this was supposed to be about the Steam group and the Kotaku community, but first thing he did was bring up this seemingly made-up crap that is obviously insane. And when Dean shares it with others, which, like you guys have already said, is not that much of a surprise considering how crazy that accusation was, suddenly he wants to end the dialogue he originally sought to initiate. I don't know, that just seems... inconsistent.
  23. More like batshit crazy.
