  1. Excellent book. Absolutely love Vonnegut. I preferred Cat's Cradle to Slaughterhouse-Five, though. Haven't read a book in a while, sadly. I actually have a few books I started a while back and haven't finished yet, one of which is Fahrenheit 451 :/ I also really need to read the final Dark Tower book But right now I'm reading the horror manga Uzumaki. I'm only a few chapters in but it's already pretty fucked up!
  2. Yeah, it'd be cool if he started posting here, I guess. But considering what happened, I'm not so sure he will. Who knows, though.
  3. Well, the first teaser poster for The Dark Knight Rises is out and Ho. Ly. Shit. That is the very definition of epic. O_O I really hope the rumors about the teaser trailer coming out as soon as next week (attached to Harry Potter) turn out to be true!
  4. Rewatched Slither tonight. Man, that movie is awesome. Nathan Fillion, why u no in more movies?!!??

    1. Johnny

      Johnny

Because he's largely a TV actor and only known in nerd circles.

Nah, Castle has changed the circles he's known in.

And it's about damn time! He's way too handsome for us nerds to keep him all to ourselves!

  5. So, I guess Joel won't be posting here after all? Though he does seem to be reading this. I checked his profile a couple of times today and the "last activity" time changed a few times.
  6. Well, that would explain it, but holding Dean responsible for something someone else said would be pretty unreasonable. Does Crecente feel responsible for all the inane shit commenters say on a daily basis? I seriously doubt it.
  7. You know, if I was paranoid, I might be tempted to say that this looks like Joel initiated contact, then was told "No, don't bother with that guy" and then used the first excuse he found to back out of it. Like Dean said, this was supposed to be about the Steam group and the Kotaku community, but first thing he did was bring up this seemingly made-up crap that is obviously insane. And when Dean shares it with others, which, like you guys have already said, is not that much of a surprise considering how crazy that accusation was, suddenly he wants to end the dialogue he originally sought to initiate. I don't know, that just seems... inconsistent.
  8. More like batshit crazy.
  9. I'd actually planned to get together with some people to boost some of the harder ones (mainly the "get 8 people in the stadium" one), but those plans fell through. Then later on I lucked out when I went to play with randoms and got it. Turns out it's not that hard to get anyway. There's actually a freeburn challenge that requires all players to go to the stadium. So if you're the host and the session is full, you can easily get it. In the end, I ended up getting them all by playing normally, though admittedly a bit of luck was involved. I get that they are fairly pointless, but I still enjoy collecting them. I don't see my trophy level as a "gamer cred" or anything retarded like that, so it's not an e-peen thing. I literally just think it's fun. Plus it makes me spend more time on games that I might have otherwise beat and tossed aside, so there's that. More bang for my bucks or whatever. Also, thanks to trophies I've realized that I actually enjoy the challenge of playing (or replaying) games on harder difficulties. The only game I remember beating on the hardest difficulty prior to trophies was the first Splinter Cell.
  10. Finished Burnout Paradise this afternoon. There is still a metric fuckton of stuff left to do in the game, but I earned the "Burnout license", the platinum trophy and the credits rolled. It was one hell of an easy platinum. I easily got over 10 trophies on my first play session alone. I never really tried to get any of the trophies, but over the course of playing the game I got most of them anyway. When I did start paying attention, I realized that I was only a few trophies short of the platinum, and they were easy ones, so I went to get them and when I finally got the last license, I got the trophy for it and the platinum.
  11. Been watching the abridged, HD remastered "new" Dragon Ball. It's fucking terrible, but thanks to nostalgia I am loving the hell out of it :D

So wait. DBZ Abridged or DBZ Kai? Or... what.

I meant Kai. I said abridged because of how they cut out all the crap.

      CorgiShinobi

Probably Kai since Abridged is the funniest and well edited version of Dragon Ball Z in existence.

  12. Do you even know what he might be referring to, Dean? I'm assuming based on your reaction that you never said anything of the sort, but do you remember of anyone else posting something even remotely resembling that on the old forum or wherever? O_o I mean, a misunderstanding over something like this might explain why Kotaku/Crecente gave you the boot with seemingly no reason. But otherwise, if Crecente made that up out of spite/for no reason, then he is fucking insane.
  13. Yeah, I replayed some Critter Crunch recently so I recognized their name right away when I started playing Clash of Heroes. After only two games they are already one of my favorite casual developer. Critter Crunch is awesome! I really hope Sword & Sorcery EP makes it to PSN down the line. Though from what I understand, Clash of Heroes has nothing to do with M&M whatsoever and might as well not even be related to the series. I never played any other M&M games, though. But now I kinda want to look into it. Might be time to finally play that copy of Dark Messiah of Might and Magic that's been collecting dust in my Steam account for a while now.
  14. Los Cronocrimenes, or in english, TimeCrimes. It's a spanish scifi movie about time travel (duh). It's very decent. The first half is fairly predictable but it really starts to shine in the second half. There is kind of a glaring paradox that the movie doesn't address, but if you don't let plot holes ruin movies for you then you'll be able to overlook it.
  15. Last week-end's X4 xp event made me get back into RDR and I played quite a bit of it. Only a few trophies short of the platinum now. Though I've taken a break from the old west for now and am mostly playing Burnout Paradise, and Might & Magic: Clash of Heroes. Clash of Heroes is pretty addictive. I have a hard time putting it down whenever I start playing. It's kind of like Puzzle Quest, only the combat isn't a complete ripoff of another game. It's also a bit more strategic.
  16. I gave in and ended up getting most of the Burnout Paradise DLC. They were all either 2$ or 3$, down from 5$ and 7$ respectively, so it was quite a steal. The only one I didn't get was the Party pack, which adds local offline multiplayer. Didn't seem necessary seeing as I rarely have people over to game.
  17. Got a bit of cash and figured I'd get a couple of PSN games instead of getting a single bargain bin retail one. I'd heard good things about the DS version but for some reason it always stayed off my radar. Then I tried the HD version demo about two weeks ago and absolutely loved it! Been aching to play the full game ever since, so it was a no-brainer. Next, I could only afford a second game and was torn between Outland and Beyond Good & Evil HD. I seriously did not know which one to pick. Then the PSN store updated and Sony made my choice infinitely easier. 7,99$ and includes some DLC. Been wanting it ever since getting WipEout last month but thought it was a bit too pricey at 20$. Though of the two DLC packs included, one is pretty damn worthless. All it does is unlocking all the cars in the game. Where's the fun in that?! I was afraid I'd be forced to get it, but thankfully all the items were separate downloads so I didn't download that one. Oh and I bought the Legendary Cars DLC for 2 bucks. Ecto-1 + BTTF's DeLorean = hell yes!
  18. Okay what the hell is with Red Dead Redemption and fast travelling today?! Twice now I've fast travelled to the Great Plains. First time, I spawned inside a moving train, which was a bit odd. But just now.. me and my horse spawned on the train tracks, and there was a fucking train rushing towards us! I barely managed to get out of its way in time!

That stupid horse didn't even react! If it wasn't for my lightning-sharp reflexes, we'd have been crushed!

So yeah, *I* got out of the way. That horse can eat shit. He's not worthy of pronouns!

Though I didn't jump off and let it be crushed, if that's what you're implying. Didn't have time.

  19. Oh man, I'm tempted but hesitant to watch that new footage. Normally I'd be all over this, but Chewie kinda struck a chord with me the other day with his "not keeping up with games" thread. I very much want this game to surprise me. Also, the impending release makes it all the more tempting to go back and try to finally get those last few trophies I'm missing for Arkham Asylum's platinum. :/ And it's really only one trophy that I'm stuck on As soon as I get the one for the earning gold medals on all the expert combat challenges (I only have like 2-3 left to beat), the 100% Completion one should kick in right after, and then the platinum...
  20. Being broke during a Steam sale is both a blessing and a curse. On the one hand, I don't add stupid amounts of new games to my already insane Steam backlog. But reading this thread right now makes me feel like a drug addict in need of a fix This sale is pretty easy to ignore otherwise, though, because I tend to game in "platform phases". For months at a time I'll game exclusively on one platform and ignore the other. I almost never switch back and forth between my PC and my PS3. It's always one or the other, rarely both. And right now, I've been spending a lot of time on the PS3 these past few weeks. I don't even log on to Steam when I'm on the PC.
  21. So, looks like Limbo might be coming to PSN? Hope it turns out to be true, I was very disappointed when I found out it was XBLA exclusive. Game looks awesome.

  22. Beat Bayonetta yesterday. Overall I really liked it. Made me nostalgic as hell for Devil May Cry 1 and 3 and now I'm fucking ACHING for that series HD Collection. Sure, I could always just pop in my PS2 copies... but I'd much rather wait a few months, get them in proper HD 16:9 and get trophies for them. Anyway, back to Bayonetta, it's a great game but it really sucks how the PS3 port was half-assed. It played fine for the most part, but in the last few levels there was some noticeable slowdown. Nothing to make it unplayable, but just enough to affect the visuals. Actually, scratch that. I just had a look at some 360 footage on youtube and holy shit! The area in chapter 15, at the top of the tower, when you walk vertically on the disappearing panels... I wasn't 100% sure if it was a framerate drop or just intentional, to have a kind of reduced-gravity slowness feel to the movements (it would've fit with the environment, tbh). But no, it was just slow as fuck. It's smooth and fast on 360. Oh and um, yeah, I guess I beat Critter Crunch as well. Finished the Adventure, Puzzle and Challenge modes. Really fun little puzzler. Hadn't touched it in a while, but I'm glad I never uninstalled it. Too bad the online is dead. I have one trophy left to get and it's a multiplayer one If anyone here has it and wants to play a few games, hit me up on PSN!
  23. Never did play the Wii version of RE4, so yeah, I really hope they include Move support. I'm still kinda pissed that my copy of RE5 doesn't support Move. I platinum'd it ages ago, but I'd probably go for another run if I it supported it. I don't really feel like selling it and getting the gold edition just for Move support and the DLC :/ Oh, that's possible. The only SC I ever played on PS2 were Chaos Theory and Double Agent.
  24. Eh, I'm the same but with the Metal Gear Solid series. The HD collection will mark my third purchase of both MGS 2 and 3. I intend to keep my PS2 copies of Substance and Subsistence, though. Those are my preciou...ses? Though now that I think about it, I did buy a similar Resident Evil box as well. Holds the first Outbreak, Code Veronica X and RE4. Never played any of them, though, because I kinda hate how ugly PS2 games look on my PS3/HD display :/ Was more of a "collecting" purchase. So yeah, the HD release will be the first time I replay RE4 since the original gamecube release. Can't wait!
