NorCal doesn't have great Mongolian. But, great noodle houses make up for that.... Dude.

There is one Mongolian bbq place by my work near Stanford, it's the only good place but it's not as good as stuff I've had back in LA.

  2. When I read that LA got shutdown, my first thought was "Ah! Damn it!". Then, 3 seconds later, I realized it was for the best. The good days had long gone. Now, I am hoping for what FLD said. Obsidian RPGs are some great stories and characters. I do wish they would update us on that meeting they had with Disney and see if any decisions have been made.
  3. Spent 26 hours this weekend making pascha and kulich for Easter. I need a vacation to recover.

  4. I understand that everyone is fucked right now, but, when you have to close the banks and ATMs because of potential runs, it's a terrible situation. Last time there were runs on banks in the history of the US, things went to hell very quickly. And, they are saying Spain could be next. If I had this kind of news, I'd make sure my money was in my pocket, not in a financial instution where the government can do whatever they wish.

and EA just keeps making headlines. If somebody wasn't sure that the flag was once again handed from Activision to EA as to the most hated publisher, look no more

I was wondering how they managed it. Thank god for that header image!

Fortunately, I never let my cat touch my DS.

  5. http://pagead2.googlesyndication.com/simgad/6049508778618557281 I now feel creepy and really need to delete my browsing history.
  6. http://www.gamespot.com/news/ea-ceo-resigns-6405525? I don't see this as a loss for EA, so much as an opportunity.
  7. http://www.nytimes.com/2013/03/19/business/global/asian-markets-drop-on-latest-euro-concerns.html?_r=0 Shit is hitting the fan. People work hard all of their life in order to be able to retire and enjoy what little of life they have left. Now, the EU wants to spread the buttcheeks and plunder the booty.
  8. I do find it odd that they are giving away games that are prime titles. Like someone pointed out in that article, PvZ is occasionally free to download, so that would be a bad choice.

  10. Scratchy throat. I need to quit making out with Alex Heat, no matter how cute he is.

  11. So far, I have all of my plants doing well, except the cucumbers. Not bad! The local OSH is working with the kid's school to do what they are calling a "pizza garden". It's something like 2 tomato plants, a bell pepper plant, and some basil. Half of the sales of this bundle go to the school, which is pretty cool. I ran out of room in the place I want to plant these things, so I'm thinking of doing a 4 x 4 raised bed. That way, I might prevent the basil from spreading too far, and I can still reach the plants from any side of the bed. Now, just to find the time...
  12. Modders have got it working offline. And... "We know that this is our fault so we're giving SimCity players who were affected a free EA PC game download via Origin. We'll have more details for that on March 18."
  13. It is not just one article you can point to. It's the love pillows, the cosplay, the article about how Japanese woman view the one out-of-place tooth as a beauty mark, how in Japan you can get a hot maid to come play video games with you as a service. It's more a culmination of what they write about. Let's apply it like this. If you keep talking about hooters and how hooters are such great fun, in between your talking about games, pretty much your audience is going to be limited to guys who like talking about hooters. Women might want to not talk about hooters, as it does make some uncomfortable. So, lay back on the hooters talk and talk about gaming. The audience isn't just men
  14. If you google it, the title comes up as "The Gamer's Guide". The problem is that Kotaku posts stories about treating women equally, but is a big offender at perpetuating stereotypes about Japanese women. It's crappy how contradictory they are on a daily basis. But, no, I don't think anyone should be surprised.
  15. http://www.gog.com/pick_5 Pick 5 "classic" games and get them for 80% off. Quite a few for 2, 3, or 4 dollars.

  17. Went to the dinner theater and watched Spamalot. Great show! Funny, witty, and charming.

  18. And if they didn't financially support groups like ELF and such. PETA really are just a bunch of assholes.
  19. Yesterday, there was an article on there about how Mormons are represented in gaming, followed by how PETA was upset about whaling in AC. I haven't seen much of Kotaku today, but I assume they have something else about someone feeling like they are being bullied by the creaters of Angry Birds for not including penguins. Oh, well. I'm kinda done with being nagged by Kotaku. You just need to say "fuck it" and not take that place seriously anymore.
  20. A good read on Hugo Chavez: http://www.economist.com/blogs/americasview/2013/03/venezuela-after-ch%C3%A1vez?fsrc=scn/gp/wl/bl/chavez There is some bias (as there will be in most writings), but a good summary of his life.
  21. Let's see if they replace one cray-cray with another cray-cray.
  22. Amy's Kitchen, I assume. Amy's is kind of a funny company. They aren't really cost conscious as they are primarily concerned with the process of making the product and the taste. Typically, a food company is more concerned about the process, as a streamined, consistent process can make a consistent product each time. Like Coke made today will taste just like a Coke made tomorrow and a Coke made the day before. So, with Amy's, you pay more for the product, but they try to maximize the flavor profile. Interesting take on making a retail product, really.
