    The concert was pretty good. I lasted watching until about 1, just as the members of Nirvana had come out to jam with Sir Paul. Hit record, as I need to get to bed, so I have a gem to watch tonight when I get home.

    We have the tree up, and started some holiday baking to share with friends. The Elf on The Shelf is floating about the house. Last night, we dumped out the LEGO box and left a trail from the box to a small house my wife built out of LEGOs with the Elf sitting inside. When the kids woke, we told them the elf must have been having fun all night long. We have most of our shopping done, and have been listening to Christmas songs for a couple of weeks now. And, we have been watching the Christmas programming since Thanksgiving weekend. For the Flying Gerbil, Mariah Carey was pretty good on the TV special when she sang her song.

I'll have to get a pair from there when I get a coupon. I'm always up for some good jeans, and not afraid to return if they are shit.

    Damn, that is sticker shock. Jeans can be had for less than $20 at Walmart, name brands, too. The Gap is having a sale on jeans. Plus, there is a coupon code for 30% off. You can get 3 pair for $50 right now. And Gap jeans are damn comfortable with plenty of nutsack room.

    Herein lies the problem I keep seeing: If you win $100 million, you don't get the money upfront, unless you want a NPV with a high discount rate. So, on 100 million, you would normally get that full money paid out over 20 years, meaning $5 million a year minus taxes, which the current administration wishes to increase to suck the life out of your money now. Let's say 50% of that 5 goes to Uncle Sam (well, between 40 and 50 anyway). So, you get 2.5 million a year, with another 200k going to sales tax. If you win $100 million, but opt for the NPV, let's say now you get 70 million upfront. That $70 is fully taxable, leaving you with about 35 million. Now, you get to spend, but still have to pay sales tax, which will be about 2.2-2.8 million. Plus property taxes from whatever lavish estate you have purchased. So, based upon making a rational decision, you get the 2.5 million a year. That's enough to buy a house and live comfortably for the next 20 years, plus, if you were smart with your money, investing enough to keep you taken care of into your late years, plus bewb jobs for the wife. Sounds boring, but the plan actually works out logically.

    So, I am playing The Simpsons Tapped Out on the iPhone. Basically, FarmVille with cool Simpsons overlay and characters you give tasks to do, like make Apu work a 12 hour shift or make Lisa do next weeks homework. It is pretty boring, but the characters are familiar enough to keep me playing for at least another week before deleting it. Meh.
