  1. Progress comes from trying, even if you fall short. http://online.wsj.com/article/AP14c808372d564e4fb6b859cab634de7f.html
  2. Cashier talking about her cat. I am pretty sure she is going to be single for a while.

I don't focus on it. When it gets brought up, I make my case. If they cannot or refuse to understand it and look down on me, that's their problem. Not mine.

And I don't think anyone was looking down on anyone here. Just the crazies who call their cats their children, and talk to random strangers about "interesting" things their cats do all day.

Well, you talk about what you live. Some people have kids, some people don't. Some people go skiing, some people binge drink. Some read books, some are movie critics. There's nothing wrong with enjoying the company of animals and talking about them. You may not think the things that cats do are interesting, but that doesn't make it any less interesting to them.

  3. That beer trick works, but not nearly as well. OSH definitely carries Correy's. So does Walmart.
  4. Corry's Slug & Snail Pellets. Easy to apply and safe for vegetable gardens. All your garden/hardware stores carry it, because those damn things are a nuisance.
  5. Also, have you heard the American announcers? They might as well be talking about the reproductive nature of ferns. Personally, I don't have love for soccer, but, when you have a good crew calling the game, that makes a big difference. I've watched a few international matches with good announcers, and those were fun to watch because of it.
  6. Basically, use any dry wine , (white for white meats, red for red meats). Not sweet wines. I use a pinot grigio for white. Simple table wines for reds. @FDS: where do you get your recipes? Your food tends to make me hungry.
  7. Since the weather was not good for being outside, I decided to wait this year and do more transplants. So, I planted 4 varieties of tomatoes, 2 cucumber plants, 2 bell peppers, squash, corn, rosemary, and a few types of basil. For the herbs, I did a mix of soils and put them in a large planter. I put up my tomato cages and then put snail/slug killer out. Damn things won't take all my basil this year! I did plant some seeds this weekend, including seeding the lawn, but I am probably going to do some more next weekend for some fall crops.
  8. Why would I want to not be addicted to sex?
  9. This article is great. I think she makes stellar points in a clear, positive and is really wanting to be a role model. This is the kind of person that can create change. @FDS: Contrast this to Hernandez's articles which offer little to creating change and are more like the old person calling all teenagers stupid.
  10. Tonight sure is taking a long time to get here!
  11. Duke, I followed you on Kotaku before I even came to this place (as I did quite a few people that have been on here, past and present). Much respect and best of luck, sir.
  12. hates kidney stones, especially on the way out.

So downing lots of water helps against it?

W&S, lots of theories, but no real answer. Water is the only thing that MAY help.

It should in theory help them not form since it'll dilute your body fluids. So think of that when you piss, it shouldn't be dark yellow. If its pretty much clear, well good I suppose.

  13. A new show called Zero Hour. The show is much better than I expected, and I recommend it to anyone who might have been an X-Files fan. Edit: Not the show is like the X-Files. It just has that same grit the show had by the third season. Quality conspiracy theory mixed with some theology and history.
  14. http://www.iheartchaos.com/image/43123204974 Let's see if this works... Nope. Damn iPhone. Merry damn Valentine's day. Here is a link: http://www.iheartchaos.com/image/43123204974
  15. My surprise for the wife is at home, but I am sure she is probably mad she didn't get something at work to show off to all her friends. Hopefully, the anger can be contained by truffles, chocolate covered strawberies, candied apple (almond roca style), and flowers. If not, this is going to be a long night.

I didn't get my wife anything. Fuck this holiday.

I too hate this holiday. I did buy some flowers to be delivered, but they haven't arrived at her work yet. If they don't arrive by the time she leaves work, I'm calling and getting my money back.

  17. So does the internet get porn or is that considered downloading?
  18. I'm having pancakes & eggs tonight for dinner. Yum!
  19. I'd eat horsemeat in my beef burgers, but I kinda don't give a fuck about the meat, as long as it ain't venison. I hates me some venison.
  20. Oh. I thought I had offended you somehow. Okay. (I had to look up abattoir to understand it means slaughterhouse.) Having worked in the beef industry here in the US, we would often say "the beef plant" to refer to the place where the cattle were slaughtered and processed.
  21. What FDS said. They might also say "international" if the chain has one store in Canada. More marketing BS. I never believe that hype. http://www.reuters.com/article/2013/02/12/us-britain-food-horsemeat-idUSBRE91B1FO20130212
  22. Gerbs, please meet IHOP. http://www.ihop.com/ International House of Pancakes. It's practically a lovefest for breakfast. Dean, I saw a couple of UK plants got raided for horse meat suspicions. You probably already had it at some point.
  23. I was wondering why your pancakes looked more like crepes. http://britishfood.about.com/od/pancakeday/tp/worldpancakes.htm
  24. I tried on granny smith apples, which balanced out the sweetness of it. That seemed to work. I'll have to check out the TJ's version to see if it's cheaper than $5 a jar!
