  1. I was thinking less of the audio of the guns themselves and more of how all the sound fits in with the environment. Shooting a shotgun indoors sounds different than shooting a shotgun outdoors, etc. Being 100m away from where everyone's shooting sounds completely different than being 20m away. The fact that more games don't do that always sort of surprised me.
  2. Didn't DICE do the weapon sounds? That's probably why. BC2 and BF3 are two of the best sounding games I've ever played.
  3. Whenever I hear people get mad about how much Obama's spending, I sort of wonder where they were for the 8 years prior to his election.
  4. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_bUYECEhn0A Listening to their new album a bit. It's okay, I suppose. Sounds a lot like Spoon, but I like Spoon. Nothing they do will ever be as good as Percussion Gun, though. Edit: Media link debauchery.
  5. http://www.oxm.co.uk...before-release/ So Drew Karpyshyn (ME1 writer and ME2 "contributor") has spilled some details on the ending that Bioware canned for ME2. I'll put it in spoilers because it's long, but not because it's in the game or anything.

      +1 for the maths!

This must be the result of multi-track drifting.

I see they've since fixed it. It might be more fun if there was a DDG style controller you could use with it.

  6. It's funny because I think the PC version is coming with all the DLC unlocked already, just because they know people would go through and change those few lines of code to unlock them all for free anyway.
  7. Whoa. Didn't even know they were recording one.
  8. Then I look forward to playing it. I'm now more curious than I was when I bought it.
  9. From the steam daily deal. Been playing a few more racers recently and figured this was worth a shot for $5. And then this, via P4. Thanks!
  10. I'm a gmail person. I sort of thought everyone was.
  11. Tossed in a bit. I can probably do more if need be, but that was what I could swing right now. Also, Hotmail, Dean? Really?
  12. HTML is always a good place to start. Otherwise, some visual programming languages are a pretty good place to start. I learned a bit of Max/MSP for audio production stuff, and although it's not nearly as useful as Java or C++ for everything else, it was actually a bit of fun. Drag and drop, patchers, and boxes is really the basics of it, but the math carries over well to other languages. I guess I don't have much useful to share beyond the suggestion of some visual programming languages to keep it interesting, but I'd be interested as well if anyone has some good C++ or Java tutorials as well.
  13. Off to San Francisco for family stuff over break. Honestly, I'd rather be home playing ME3.

I'd rather be with my family than playing video games. Guess I am kind of weird. :P

Most of the time. I'm sure if I was still living with them it'd be different.

  14. I'll third the Vanguard combination. Haven't played ME3 yet, but ME2 and 1 were a blast. It's a nice combination between the weapon based soldier and the power based adept in that you can use just powers or just weapons if you really want to, but it works so much better in tandem. Also, the dubstep wave in ME2 is wonderful.
  15. Man, I hate it when games do that. I don't have a lot of time to play a game regularly, so when I do end up playing a game, even a new game it usually ends up being something like "play nonstop for 3 days and then not touch it again for a week", and coming back after a week and finding my progress has gone backwards would really piss me off. If I wanted to play the Sims, where all my stuff gradually fell into disrepair if I didn't play it enough, I would. But Mass Effect? Really?
  16. I can't decide yet: I love the first album, but thought the first two tracks of the second album sounded much stronger. Haven't really listened past them, though. After 6669, this is my fave: Yeah, I thought the second album was better as well until I listened to it again and realized all my favorite songs on it are the ones that sound like they could be off of Psychic Chasms. It seems like Era Extraña just sort of lacks the punch that the first album has. It went a lot more shoegazy I think, sounding a bit more like M83. That's not necessarily bad, I guess, just different. I just sort of miss their songs that sounded like this.
  17. Neon Indian's first album is so much better than the second.
  18. Not everyone should go to college. More people going to college effectively cheapens the degree. A BA degree from many state schools is akin to a high school diploma in the real world (unless you study something worthwhile like Business, Engineering or Science.) We put way too much emphasis on college and quite frankly I know people who would've been better off not going to college and instead going to a vocational school or taking an apprenticeship. Instead they are 40K in debt with a worthless degree that sounds nice when they're on break working at the supermarket. That's not really the point. The point is that Santorum is drawing on an argument that isn't exactly backed up by his personal history, as well as resorting to childish personal attacks to try and gain political clout. We covered it a few pages back. Essentially, FDS is about right. Santorum is just being a professional dicknose.
  19. Provided it sticks to stuff like "carry one extra grenade", "spring 10% faster", or "carry 25% more ammo", I'm fine. If it starts to have perks like increasing weapon damage, reducing splash damage, or increasing melee range, then I'll have an issue with it.
  20. Both have got nothing on Blasto the Hanar Spectre.
  21. Went ahead and added you. I'd definitely be down for a bit of MP later next week when I'm back from break. And once I play a bit of the SP of course.
  22. Mass Effect 3, Greenmangaming, $48 bucks. Cheap enough for me. Shame I'm going to be gone all of next week until friday and won't get to play until then. Anyone else get it on PC (for the multiplayer)?
