  1. So my laptop shows me this BSOD 80% of the time when I shut it down. No problems whatsoever while it's running. Any ideas where to begin troubleshooting? No idea where to start! http://goo.gl/IY4gp

      Maybe when emptying RAM?

You should find a copy of MemTest86+. It is free and will let you test RAM by booting from a special disc. You can get it alone, but I prefer "Hiren's Boot CD" or the "Ultimate Boot CD."

If it comes up with errors, it may even be as simple as pulling out your RAM and popping it back in.

RAM, you say? I will try this out. Thanks!

  2. Just bought a GTX 560 Ti DCII. :) ... Can't wait for the weekend! But damn, I gotta dust off the insides my desktop! Forgot to cover it when I went away and oh god it's dirty.

  3. So... i really want to stop playing DCUO since it takes up a lot of my time. I love it but MMOs are just too much of a timesink... Problem is, I have subscribed for 3 months and it's only been a month since :(

"Traditional economics proposes that an economic actor not let sunk costs influence one's decisions, because doing so would not be rationally assessing a decision exclusively on its own merits."

That's it. I'm gonna stop now.

Forgot to copy this part: "Evidence from behavioral economics suggests this theory fails to predict real-world behavior. Sunk costs greatly affect actors' decisions, because many humans are loss-averse and thus normally act irrationally when making economic decisions."

      Lol.

Yep. The human psychological glitch regarding sunk costs has been a factor in keeping my friends playing MMOs far longer than they found them fun.

Personally, as soon as I no longer wanted to play an MMO, I just uninstalled it immediately. To make the barrier of coming back higher.

  4. I don't think the current engine will be able to handle that. Maybe the next ones? They probably just put these in because, why the hell not... Maybe they should have done it like Prince of Persia 2008 though. Just let the magic moogle pull you back in...
  5. So... nobody bothered to mention that feature on any of the reviews (the story so far)? It's an awesome feature!
  6. Bought the game today. It's in my bag. Haven't bothered to bring it out though. Too addicted to DCUO at the moment. I'm gonna try really hard on the weekend to play this. It's gonna be fun!
  7. Lol. I refuse the believe even 1 of those is true. It is simply not possible for them to fuck up so badly after everything they did, and then heard, with FF XIII. Also, 20 FPS? What? Did the first game run with 20 FPS? There is no reason for this to run with that low FPS when the first one didn't. Also, there is the demo out already, it would have made headlines.
  8. How does it know??? A friend of mine from college came up in a conversation just yesterday. And today the name showed up on facebook under people you may know. It never appeared before.........HOWDOESITKNOW???!!

Didn't you read the privacy policy? They're allowed to read your mind in order to better serve you ad banners etc.

  9. LOL! I did something bad... I found some lowbies, around lvl 4-5, just like the ones I mentioned above. They were killing GCPD grunts, for a quest no doubt. So I went there, and, being a healer, threw a COP around the poor guy. COP heals the cops (read: plural!!!) he was beating on to full health in 1 sec, so unless he kills them in 1 sec, the cop's health is fully restored. He nearly died with all the undying cops shooting at him, until someone came (same level as him) and helped out so they were able to beat the cops even with my COP active. I couldn't stop laughing!
  10. Keep forgetting about the wikipedia blackout, while sitting in training bored at work. Say no to SOPA!

  11. Question to villains. Are heroes camping on some spot and killing lowbies when you play? I ask because every time I play, level 30 villains are ALWAYS in the hospital area in metropolis (I think its ellsworth?), killing our lowbies. What in the world makes it justified, other than it being a PvP server, for level 30s, with T1+ gear, to kill level 5s. Is there a villain quest that requires you to murder these people? Is there any benefit? You only get credited for killing someone 5 levels higher or lower than you. I'm not complaining, just wondering. The general consensus on the hero chat is that this is "pathetic". I'm sure there are heroes too that camp out, I just don't know where and I would like to know. Or is it all part of role playing as a villain?
  12. The original deal also had the requirement/clause/whatever that Interplay get $30 million by 2009 for the project. They didn't deny having it, they didn't deny don't. So signs point to them not having it, otherwise they would just say they have it and Bethesda wouldn't have any grounds to sue.
  13. MMO is dead. Yes. I'm sure Bethesda will keep selling the old stuff. They can do that, why not do it? Arena and Daggerfall are out for free. Probably because they won't be able to sell such buggy games. So either Fallout 1 and 2 will keep selling, or be free for everyone. No other company making the titles? Why is this a concern? It's not like any other company can make Call of Duty or Final Fantasy? Anyway, this is awesome news. Does anyone really think Interplay winning is a good thing?
  14. I had a dream where my brother encountered a huge, green, fire-breathing dragon. The first thing I did, as he was fending it off, was to take a picture with my camera phone.

  15. I really love it when that happens. I had such an experience back in Warhammer Online. I was a Witch Hunter wandering around Chaos turf, and I met an Ork who followed me around. We killed a bunch of stuff together, but once we started a public quest we both died. We never saw each other again, and I was kind of sad. Lol! I took that picture yesterday. I saw GobStar again, then level 6, now, level 30. But we had to duke it out at the ring war. So sad. Not sure if he remembers me.
  16. Villains... they're not all bad...
  17. ^ Same with me. And then worry that I may have actually lost her an hour ago and will have to redo a lot. Most of the time though you can just wait for 1 hour and she shows up, unless I guess she got stuck on a tree or something. Note also that sometimes she vanishes and won't be there when you fast travel. Just fast travel to Dragonsreach and enter the keep. She'll be there. Speaking of companions, had a lot of fun with Brelyna Maryon. Who was dual-wielding 2 staff of fireballs. Especially when inside houses. All kinds of stuff ends up flying all over the place. Had to spend time looking through the junk on the floor to find a quest item. Which of course, wasn't there, I was just not looking at my map correctly.
  18. It's a good game to play with someone, because what you basically have to do is investigate, think, and figure out if the guy is lying or not. Via clues and all. You could brainstorm. I brainstormed with gamefaqs. It's sad.
  19. Didn't read the whole thread, but using Dropbox for savegame backup is a great idea! If that was what you meant by using it... I'm thinking of junctioning the savegame folder to dropbox. Of course, with my savegame habits (over 7GB of skyrim saves!) my dropbox would probably be full in a few weeks... EDIT: This is so cool because Dropbox has history. So if you accidentally overwrite 1 of your saves, it will be so easy to revert!
  20. That's true! I spent an hour creating my hero, but naming her was the hardest part! Anyway, my hero's costume is not over the top. It's standard hero fare but I'd like to think it's well coordinated. If you see her flying around, say Hi! Oh and the hour I spent was not for the costume, but mostly for the color scheme. I didn't know that you could change it later! http://dl.dropbox.com/u/16661885/nsfw/2012-01-03_00001.jpg
  21. oooh forgot to post here again since I changed my name! elev3n is for the awesome 11th Doctor! Been trying to find a username that could stick, and I think this could be it! I get bored with all the other names I've used in the past. Maybe it will change if the 12th is even better!
  22. aaah goddammit... i just signed in and the first message I saw was that they were rebooting the servers in 1 minute. Pardon me, I guess you're not all bad. While the server was counting down, there was this villain who just stood there, shooting weak fireballs at me, playfully. Like 1 in 3 seconds. It was funny, he was the same level as me, but didn't go all out. I didn't know what to do with him. I probably would have tried to kill him if I saw him first... Crap, i've just proven your point for you...
  23. PS3? I think that's a well known bug, and a serious transgression by Bethesda, as it was said to have existed in Fallout 3. Anyway I just want to ask, is anyonesince everyone is using the 4gb patch before the latest update, did you notice if it screwed with Raptr? Because my Skyrim hours are triple of what they actually are in Steam. Doesn't really matter. Just curious...
  24. Yeah I know! Even though I have Witcher 1 from GoG! But I didn't want to buy it for another $40... or was it $49 before the sale, even $24 during the sale. Ah well.. I have both installed now, just in case steam decides to update, I can switch easily. However, patch 2.0 apparently stops steam auto-update for Witcher 2, and just patches via the launcher, it's what I read from the steam forums. Not that it matters as I currently stopped playing it. Will do so again when I can run it above Low quality settings... it's being wasted... But I'm veering off topic here... anyway to get back on topic: ... I have nothing else to add.
  25. Note, too, that steam gives you the option to not update, but it also overrides it for some reason. Witcher 2 has overridden my setting, and we all know how big those patches are. So even though I bought it in steam, I pirated it too, retail copy without drm. I hope CDPR won't hold that against me. Also, restoring games from backup, WILL force you to update... Witcher 2 again, restored from backup, no option to play the game using that version, you have to update and redownload the 8GB patch. EDIT: Yes, i realize that 8gb patch is really an issue on specific games only... But this made me hate steam for a while
