Think Ars Technica is a good Engadget replacement? I already read The Verge and Giz but Engadgets quality has really taken a dive lately. I think that's because one or two of the dudes ended up at The Verge.

I think engadget is a "specialized" blog about... gadgets. Ars has gadgets, tech news, apple & microsoft news and stuff.

Never really want to know the latest about every gadget in the sun, so I don't read engadget and gizmode, and like blogs. I like reading Ars, gives me 1 website I can get my tech-related news.

Oh and I also seem to be liking the new layout. Change is good!

  2. Completely finished the game today. Except for Coliseum battles. Nabaat is hard. I youtubed her fight, and that's what I was doing but I couldn't pull it off... Can't wait for the Lightning DLC. It unlocks lightning as a party member too, however, I've done everything already! Maybe coliseum battles and capturing Monsters, all of them would be next... Or not.. too much time spent on this game already.
  3. I like the fact that they keep churning out outfits for Serah and Noel. However, I don't like how expensive they are.

I wish they had started doing that earlier. Hopefully they'll be useable in the DLC coming later this month.

I finished the game before buying my first costume. However, I wanted to get the platinum for it so I've had a lot of use for them. I constantly switch their attires. Unlocking the paradox endings are fun too.

  4. That damn game Arkham City is 50% off on steam. Not like you don't have it yet. But in case you want this abomination, now might be a good time to buy it.

  5. Uncharted: Golden Abyss is... not what I had hoped it would be. The framerate is horrible. Drake feels "heavy", and I shouldn't mention it, but he looks like his two front teeth are out! The minigames are good though. I like the "treasure hunting" stuff... so far.

My bedroom light didn't even work on that, I had to get up and go towards the windows and hold it up to the sun >_______________>

So if you'd been playing at night you would have been SOL?

But yeah, I played the PS3 Uncharteds with a 360 controller because I cannot fucking stand the sticks on the DS3 for anything requiring any amount of precision (ie aiming), so in Uncharted 1 I couldn't use grenades at all because that relied on sixaxis.

  6. I can bring 4 rockets to the fight now! Not that I use it, no real need as we are spamming geth/firebase white for cash.
  7. Yeah. It got tiring because of that. Then they released the resurgence pack! In which you get one of the new classes in the Resurgence DLC, guaranteed! And then it doesn't work on the PSN. Bastards.

At least she aims low for her dreamjob, i'll give her that.

  8. I had problems with this one when there were 13 numbers! If you do too, use this one: http://nyusuke.com/game/ff13/ff13-2puzzle.html It's harder to read... but it'll do. Have seen only 1 of those puzzles with 13 numbers anyway.
  9. Final Fantasy XIII-2. The story so far. WE CAN CATCH HIM!

FF XIII-2 must be an elaborate Lucky Charms commercial.

      Ahhh, post game...

  10. I want more FFXIII! I love the battle system! Although you spend too much time looking at the bar fill up and picking actions and targets you can't really look at the battle animations.

Well, I meant the whole FFXIII thing. I'm currently trying to get the platinum for XIII-2. And, uhh, I bought another outfit for Serah, the one that looks like lightning's. And I got Lightning in my party!

I love XIII-2. Better than XIII by a long shot.

  11. Didn't realize that was so hard! I got it twice on my playthrough!
  12. I agree, but... (iorverth's path spoilers) Also, little tidbit about the 360 version vs the PC. They put in doors between areas, I guess to limit how much they load into memory or something. For example, Henselt's camp has walls within the camp, separates the left and right sides of the camp. Vergen in Iorveth's path has too many doors between areas, so it's a pain to travel around (it gets confusing, as you think the passages are houses, but they're not. They just put doors in it). For example, the castle area on the right side of vergen is open on the PC version, you can pass through it to go to the lower side of Vergen near the gates. In the 360 version, there is a door to enter the castle area, then a door to exit to go to the lower area near the gates. I wonder if Loc Muinne is the same. I've reached it on my PC playthrough but can't remember the town that much.
  13. I'm in Loc Muinne, following Iorveth's path. I can't really say I agree with this. Geralt still does it with whomever he wants (not counting brothel services), provided you pick the right choices (like always siding with the woman).
  14. ROTATING MINI-MAPS DRIVE ME CRAZY!!!

I'm okay with it if it's presented as a radar/motion tracker, but generally yeah I prefer stationary ones.

I like games that give you an option whether to rotate or not. Like Xenoblade. Did I mention I like that game? Yep.

The Witcher 2's minimap doesn't even tell me where North is! So annoying!

  15. That's a lie!!! I can barely run Witcher 2. I can run Skyrim on High (without Vsync). That 17fps is with everything disabled.
  16. Skyrim is far from a PS2 game! It doesn't have the best graphics and it has weird animations, but it still looks great! Anyway, that was just to give an idea how far my laptop can go. I get like 17FPS on witcher 2 on the busy sections, ie. the forest.
  17. Did I just buy this game again, for the 360? Yes I did! Hooray for not being broke! I can't find the time to rebuild my desktop, so I thought this game's gonna have to wait as I can't stand it on my laptop (which plays Skyrim awesome btw!). But I went to my favorite store and they have 1 in stock, so I bought it! The quest handbook is cool, although SPOILERS! It's gonna have to wait. Cool map too!
  18. No go... Oh well... gonna wait for my gog copy to download (another 16gb! nooooo!)
  19. My steam copy won't start... it just shows me the popup/small window that says: Updating the witcher 2: Enhanced Edition. then "Ready to play in approximately: 0 seconds". The bar is full. Play Game button is greyed out. Anyone got this? Or got this for any other game? Also, when I backup my witcher 2 copy, it never has the install executable (steam backup). So I wouldn't know how to reinstall it.... weird..
  20. You got me there, but it was still expensive then... But even now, most games on the PS3 and the 360 don't utilize the full processing capabilities, so bumping it up to 16 cores is just silly. Is that really true? What are the reasons? I've always assumed this was just shoddy work by devs unfamiliar with either system. But I think they've maxed out on it's uses...
  21. It's my turn to hijack this thread! So... how do you pick a motherboard? I mean, all I really do is check things if my components could fit on it (processor, memory, video card, sata ports. what size it is etc - ATX, mini etc..). Is that really all? I mean, can the wrong motherboard gimp my system? I'm planning to fix my desktop, as I've been gaming on my laptop and so far only skyrim runs great on it, on high settings, among the most recently released. Now that the Witcher 2 EE is out, I tried to play it again, but then remembered the reason I stopped playing is that it just lags so much on my laptop. Anyway... is there anything I should be checking for on motherboards? Also another question: I want to eventually have the option to do SLI. So I need one with two PCI-E slots. I researched, and I think i could do that with a Standard ATX, which should be perfect since my case can only fit up to those sizes. Does that sound about right?
  22. Try going here: http://www.thewitcher.com/backup Say Digital, No proof. They'll ask for your steam profile to be set to public, and your profile name. Then they'll get back to you. Just got mine within 24 hours. Of course I bought it. But I doubt it'd make a difference. They just wanna know if you have the game or not, probably...
  23. LOL! Seems like most God of War 4 threads end up being a fight between Halo and GoW fanboys...

      fuchikoma

Hmm... the headshots in GoW are more visceral... but the face visors in Halo are much more shiny...

  24. You can get the GoG backup even if you have it on Steam? I demand answers! EDIT: I will provide answers!!! http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2655783 That is awesome. These guys are awesome.
