  1. Then you can't even use the GPS in the first place. In my example, software use is allowed, i thought that was implied. Why would you get it then? Just because? Yeah well downloading that software illegally is not cheating by itself. However, it was used. Why would you pirate if you don't intend to use it? If you got the GPS but didn't use it, then it's no big deal to me. You just made yourself $150 poorer.
  2. If it's allowed to buy a GPS, then yes. You stole the GPS (I think you would agree that I used the correct word here!), and bought better wilderness stuff with your money, while I bought better wilderness stuff with my money, but no GPS since I can't afford it after all those expensive gear.
  3. I wanted to put that in my post. But decided against it, since it's against my argument. I should have mentioned it but I agree with this entirely.
  4. How does someone pirating a game or movie or whatever hurt the people who bought it? Yes, you're cheating the creator/publisher/whomever, but how are you cheating the other consumers? Really hard to argue that, because you're going to be looking for a very specific thing that shows I cheated others when I pirate. I'm going to throw something in the mix here, let's say there is competition involved. There's this "tool set" on the internet that can help you get the job done more efficiently. If I can't afford it and I don't get it, and you can't afford it and you pirate, then you cheated. Whatever opportunity would come to you because of the sole reason that you won that contest is an opportunity you stole from me, or at least you've stole my ability to compete with you on fair grounds. You may not have cheated on me when you pirated that software, but as a direct result, you cheated me out of getting that opportunity. (Not calling you a pirate! Don't really know if you do or not so excuse the pronouns.)
  5. Semantics, though. You're getting something that you shouldn't have for free. You're cheating everyone else who pays for it. Fine, let's not call it theft. Fine, let's not call it stealing. It's still wrong and unfair to everyone else. For the record (not that anyone cares!), I do agree that it is stealing. Unless we can find a more appropriate word for it. The argument that "since it's digital, there is nothing lost therefore its not stealing/theft" doesn't hold IMO. When the term was coined, the idea of digital goods probably didn't exist. Now that it has, IMO we need to re-evaluate how that term applies to it. (No one here probably made this argument - but this is the recurring reason I see whenever online people justify that it's not stealing) Plus, you know, the way you legally get digital goods is the same as getting it illegally, the only difference is you're not paying. So really I think it's some sort of stealing. EDIT: And that word is, as MasterDex pointed out, is probably Piracy.
  6. Digital copies FTW! I can switch between Mass Effect 2 and Mass Effect 3 and FFXIII-2 without leaving the couch!

I'm confused. How do you have XIII-2 without a disc? Was it released on XBL?

Unless, you have a digital ME2 and ME3 with XIII-2 in your tray.

I for one am glad we don't have to lean forward anymore. WE ARE NOT ANIMALS.

It was the Disc on the tray. One disc, two digital games. Do you even check old status updates? Sorry I kept you awake all night thinking about that.

  7. Maybe let Zaeed live. Then kill him on his loyalty mission? Is that even possible? If he's not loyal he might die on the mission though.
  8. On that note, this makes me want to make a Rachni dead, Wrex dead ME1, All dead ME2 run. Is there any guide on how to do the ME2 everyone dies run? I wonder how that would look like in ME3.
  9. OK. So here goes. Forgive the very long post.
  10. So many good points, which I agree with, to an extent. Don't have much time to type in a response now, but I will later, as I did raise the question in a "what's wrong with you? you don't like the ending!??" kind of way. And yes, it will be about the endings.
  11. So I finished it just now. EDIT: My thoughts: EDIT2: Few more
  12. So is James the new Kaidan, or Jacob? I never use him!

In terms of abilities and stats, he's Krogan. Can't say I dislike the character, but I wish he were one.

      Eleven

After his attitude on Mars, and during the dance on the shuttle bay, he never saw another mission again...

Maybe I'll like him better on his next game. I liked every former squad member I hated before, including Jacob!

    4. Luftwaffles

      Luftwaffles

Yeah, as much as Jacob was boring, he never really did anything to make me dislike him. He was just boring.

  13. EDIT: Added spoiler tags... Oh god...
  14. Damn. I'd like to finish this game soon, so I could read all the spoilers. I just have 1 question though. Is Ashley and Kaidan's story the same in Mass Effect 3? Please answer the question in spoiler tags so those who wouldn't wanna know wouldn't see it. For me, it's nothing. If its the same, then I already know what it is. If it's not, then nothing is spoiled anyway. Just a simple yes or no. I'm afraid to search online as I may accidentally see the resolution on kaidan's story. Thanks! Oh by the way, for anyone annoyed with the Mission Tab on the journal always starting way down, just press Sort (Triangle in my case) and you'll be back on top.
  15. Spoiler about Kaidan (early in the game, when he is... "stationed" somewhere, after talking to him 1 or 2 times).
  16. So... that quote from Notch, where we pretty much discussed in this topic already. EDIT: not the quote, the spirit of the quote was what was discussed. [link] It annoys me so much that people are kinda "rallying" under it like it's some sort of absolute truth. It's a stupid, simplistic quote. 1 that can easily be disproved, by me. If it were so easy to pirate today in the PS3, Xbox, or PC, I wouldn't have bought a single game. But now that it's not so easy to pirate, or there are consequences like no Online services, I realized that what I was doing was not good, and now pay for my games, even on the pc where its still really that easy to pirate. EDIT: I realized after I started buying my games, and not "suddenly" like "oh no I can't pirate! i guess it was wrong". I even bought a few PS2 games that I really liked (FF-X, MGS, FFXII), these are games I already played, just to make up for it. (PS2 was my first console after the Sega Genesis - was a pc gamer for the whole period in between).
  17. I really hope they don't make Cerberus look like douche bag bad guys in ME3. Maybe the Illusive Man has actually brainwashed me through the number of times I kept playing ME2, but I feel their cause is something I can sympathize with, but not entirely agree with. Maybe one of the huge ME3 decisions would be to trust cerberus, or trust the alliance. I would have fun with that!

Maybe I need to polish up on my Sheens before I go and blair out the wrong one again.

      Waldorf and Statler

The only good reason I can honestly see for cerberus turning on shepard at this moment is that they've been taken over or... actually nothing else is good enough reason so if they betray me ill fucking obliterate them

For me, this is why the illusive man and I had a falling out. http://goo.gl/whRSm

      I am up here, perv.

  18. I finished it! Now time to go time-hopping! (is that a word?) Hey, uhhmm, I heard the bikini improves Serah's spells. Is that true? I'm going to google it... Naah... I'm sure it's true! Yes... yes i think i'm going to download it for the... uhh... stat boost, yes. Good thing there's a stat boost huh? I'm gonna go download it now... hmmm...
  19. Does the PSN version of ME2 come with the Shadow Broker DLC (and kasumi and etc...)? Just like the disc version? I couldn't find these DLCs on the PSN Store.

    1. TCP

      TCP

Yeah I'm pretty sure the PS3 version of Mass Effect 2 just had the Shadow Broker/Kasumi DLC as part of "the game".

Yeah, it has everything except for Arrival.

  20. Late to the party, but I am loving this game! I think it's going to be one of my favorite JRPGs. But hey, one of my other favorites was Star Ocean: The Last Hope. I have a lot of favorites. They are just something I keep in mind when I think about games I like.
  21. E68 error on my xbox, a week before the only game I play on the system gets released. Can't get it to work. My saves are in there from ME1. All my friends are on PSN, but I really want to continue my original save.

      Hot Heart

I played ME1 with a mouse and gamepad (xpadder helped me get a custom setup that worked really well), and then ME2's refined controls meant my poor keyboard skills were still good enough. It also looks quite nice on PC. But, still, bummer either way...

I want to magically be able to play ME3 on my PC, with my Xbox saves, without installing Origin or agreeing to any spyware whatsoever. Neither my PC nor 360 are broken...but I'm not playing ME3 any time soon. :-/

  22. Where do you get the chocobos? Am I just too early in the game to see them? WHERE ARE MY CHOCOBOS!??!

So, based on this conversation I've concluded that they incorporated Pokemon into FFXII-2

    3. deanb

      deanb

To a degree. It also has the chocobo races of VII, so you both fight with and race the Chocobos. So they're highly prized enemies.

I got a Grand Behemoth, who I aptly named Clifford. Too bad he's blue, not red.

  23. I've keep seeing complaints about FFXIII-2's soundtrack. Thought it was just "elitists" complaining about nothing again. But damn... now that i'm playing it... what the hell is up with that!

Crazy Chocobo is so bad it's almost good. ....almost.

Hopefully the DLC packs will go back to the traditional XIII style music. I feel bad for anyone who bought the collectors edition. Considering how wonderful XIII's music was, it wouldn't have been tough decision to want to buy XIII-2's music if you didn't know the truth.

Gas 'em up with the greens and let him go Stand back, stand clear as he puts on a show So cute yet fierce, is he from hell? I cannot tell, yet I don't even want to know So you wanna be a trailblazer? Kickin' dirt like a hell raiser? Take the reins, but don't react slow It's time to feel the force... of the chocobo!

People always say "shoot first, ask questions later" is bad... so I asked first! However, googling it, I found touch arcade, which I think fits what I'm looking for. Thanks! I'll check out the other one too!
