  1. One of my favourite games of the year is currently on sale https://www.humblebundle.com/store/stories-untold
  2. It's a testiment to how badly they managed the entire Dorne subplot that that seems to be the common theme from the episode. It's been ages since I read it, but I'm sure we love them in the books. Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk
  3. Are you guys communicating via SMS or something more...modern like Telegram, Whatsapp or Slack?
  4. @deanbmmv If anything I found the McShane cameo more distracting. Sheeren has a (hopefully) small part. With McShane I could never get it out of my head that it was Ian McShane being Ian McShane in Westeros. Granted, I don't think the writers did much to help on that front, but in terms of taking me out of the experience I found the McShane stuff to be much worst. Not least because his character name was Ray and, well.
  5. I thought they were going to allow access to the hub area for a limited time on the final day? Now, unless I'm wrong, isn't that today?
  6. Wasn't trying to be edgy, just a turn of phrase. I'm not sure why the guy is getting as much hate as he has been doing. I don't really enjoy his music but he was fine in a small role. The whole thing reeks (aha) of fanboys getting upset because someone that's got mainstream pull has appeared in their favourite little nerd property and last I checked, GoT was the most popular show on TV (at least on this area of the internet).
  7. Am I the only one that wasn't bothered by the appearance of Sheeran? He was entirely fine as a side character in a group of side characters.
  8. I mean. At this point how do we feel about Arya? I get we want to see her succeed but she's done some pretty fucked up things in the name of revenge. I mean, is that something we should be cheering for in a character?
  9. Super duper early beta thoughts? I've done the available strike and it seemed so much more difficult than I remember. Now granted, we're probably all a little out of practise, and there's new things to learn..but boy. I spent half an hour shooting that thing and you know what? I don't think I enjoyed it all that much. I'll play it again over the weekend for sure, but I think I might be done with Destiny.. Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk
  10. About the Ed Sheeran scene. It was....nice to see people that aren't hell bent on being dicks in this world. I mean don't get me wrong, I was expecting it to turn rapey at some point, but it didn't and that makes me feel warm inside.
  11. Okay first things first. I tried to love the motion controls. I stuck with them for the first hour I spent with the game. However I just couldn't get used to them and they actually had a direct impact on my enejoyment of the game. So I turned them off. Figuring there's no point in being better at a game I'm not enjoying. As for Splatoon itself. At first it all felt a little random. A little too frantic. Almost like there's no depth to the game play. You run in, shoot paint and hope you don't run into one of the obviously superior players. I only spent 2.5h with it, but towards the end I think some of that tactical depth started to come through. Maybe. I'm hoping it's in there because if it's literally just 4 dudes throwing paint around I'll get bored quickly. I'm a little disappointed I didn't get to see more of what the game had to offer. I hear character customisation is a big part of the experience, and I like that aspect of games. Same with levelling up and loadouts. I *think* I'll pick it up come release. Probably physical because it gives me an out if after a week I decide it's not for me. All in all, In my 2 and a bit hours I certainly had fun. Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk
  12. Hmm. Me and my GF had a 4 hour drive a few Sundays ago to visit family on the coast. I made damn sure I popped into every Argos/Tesco/PC World along the way to find a case for my Switch. I didn't, but even the fact that I wasn't the one driving didn't stop me. Now you mention it though..it does feel kinda icky. Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk

Testfire. And looking at the lines for a Switch in Japan, I doubt I can snag one here in the States anytime soon. NOT FRESH.

I read an article about trying to get hold of a Switch in Japan. Some stores only have 2-3 available per day so they essentially raffle them off. Whichever customer wins the raffle gets the opportunity to pick a Switch up. Madness.

A raffle was how my father was able to get a GameCube for me during Christmas time. Of course, that was CHRISTMAS and this is the middle of July where peeps should be totally having rooftop Switch parties.

  14. Already got the beta downloaded on the PS4. Destiny to me is almost entirely a solo experience, and whilst 95% of the time that's totally okay for me, there are times where I wish I had a group of friends who were as into gaming as a whole as me. Unfortunately I don't have that, and so I'm stuck with either ignoring the top-end stuff entirely (I didn't even complete a nightfall let alone a raid) or partnering up with some rando's who'll likely give me a world of shit. Hopefully they do a better job of making that stuff accessible for me. I'm interested to see how their raid stuff works, although It's going to be a built-in version of what I could already do on reddit. Which is a nice improvement, but hardly changes the way the game handles its top end content.
  15. Pre-ordered it yesterday for that exact reason. The game is out in less than 3 months, and I'm about as far from excited as I could be without completely wiping it from my mind. Maybe that'll change after getting some hands on with the beta, but in all honesty I think Destiny might have been a time and a place thing for me. I was single. I had nothing better to do and I was living with my parents, it all came together at the right time. Now none of those things are true and I'm not sure I want to dedicate as much time to Destiny as the game demands to get the most out of it.
  16. Splatfest is live at 5pm BST. Obviously Team Ice Cream will ultimately take the victory because I mean, fuck cake right? Tonight will be my first experience of Splatoon in any form. Fingers crossed I take to it because I've got £40 burning a hole in my pocket and a new console to play games on.
  17. Because fuck my family, fuck my job and fuck me.
  18. I've just finished What Remains of Edith Finch and I'd like to throw it into the discussion. That game touches on some difficult subjects, but handles them in some very nice ways without making the topics at hand feel any less important. It's got this really interesting structure to it, a really nice soundtrack and doesn't stick around too long.
  19. So like.... who are the other guys on the mod team?

  20. I've been thinking about re-subbing to Humble Monthly for a few months now, and every single time I talk myself out of it and then regret it when I see what they have that month. Enough!
  21. Okay so I totally missed Splatoon on the WiiU. What should I expect from Splatoon 2? Also what's with all the fashion?
  22. As the thread title says, we're about half way through what's been a pretty solid year so far. What's been your highlight so far? Player Unknowns Battleground's I know it's technically un-released, but I don't think it'd be fair not to include this game on the list. Whilst it is in Early Access, no game has given me what PUBG has given me. Ever. Even with its kinks its one hell of a game, and one that I think the gaming community will be playing for a long time to come. The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild Breath of the Wild is certainly something. I'm not usually the Zelda guy, but considering it was their first real attempt at an open world game, they knocked it out of the park. It's not without faults (rain especially), but they've built a really enjoyable Zelda game, and one I'm eager to go back to when the 2nd round of DLC hits. Horizon Zero Dawn Hmm. Another open world game. How odd. I think this and PUBG are likely my front runners for GOTY. I loved Horizon. It ticked all the boxes for me. Firstly, Metal Dinosaurs. Secondly, a bow and arrow and thirdly, a shit load of interesting lore and a world that's ripe to be built upon. One thing I have realised. Whilst there have been some truly great games released in 2017, I'm not sure there are many that I've fallen head over heels in love with. Baring the three above, I'd struggle to name anything else that I'd consider out of this world amazing. There's nothing wrong with good, but so far they're falling short of being great. At least for me. What are your favourite games of the year so far?
  23. I started and finished my Steam summer sale today.
