  1. I've just finished What Remains of Edith Finch and I'd like to throw it into the discussion. That game touches on some difficult subjects, but handles them in some very nice ways without making the topics at hand feel any less important. It's got this really interesting structure to it, a really nice soundtrack and doesn't stick around too long.
  2. So like.... who are the other guys on the mod team?

I figured he knew you, and you weren't "the other guys".

I'm too important to be "the other guy." :D

  3. I've been thinking about re-subbing to Humble Monthly for a few months now, and every single time I talk myself out of it and then regret it when I see what they have that month. Enough!
  4. Okay so I totally missed Splatoon on the WiiU. What should I expect from Splatoon 2? Also what's with all the fashion?
  5. As the thread title says, we're about half way through what's been a pretty solid year so far. What's been your highlight so far? Player Unknowns Battleground's I know it's technically un-released, but I don't think it'd be fair not to include this game on the list. Whilst it is in Early Access, no game has given me what PUBG has given me. Ever. Even with its kinks its one hell of a game, and one that I think the gaming community will be playing for a long time to come. The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild Breath of the Wild is certainly something. I'm not usually the Zelda guy, but considering it was their first real attempt at an open world game, they knocked it out of the park. It's not without faults (rain especially), but they've built a really enjoyable Zelda game, and one I'm eager to go back to when the 2nd round of DLC hits. Horizon Zero Dawn Hmm. Another open world game. How odd. I think this and PUBG are likely my front runners for GOTY. I loved Horizon. It ticked all the boxes for me. Firstly, Metal Dinosaurs. Secondly, a bow and arrow and thirdly, a shit load of interesting lore and a world that's ripe to be built upon. One thing I have realised. Whilst there have been some truly great games released in 2017, I'm not sure there are many that I've fallen head over heels in love with. Baring the three above, I'd struggle to name anything else that I'd consider out of this world amazing. There's nothing wrong with good, but so far they're falling short of being great. At least for me. What are your favourite games of the year so far?
  6. I started and finished my Steam summer sale today.
  7. I'm not sure there's all that much available right now, especially if you've already eliminated the three reasons you'd buy a Switch right now. Gonner looks fun, but that was pushed back at the final moment and it's release date is now 'TBD'. I've got my eyes on Stardew and whatever that spiritual successor to Super Meat Boy is (although could be a while off). If I was in your shoes, I'd hold off until after Splatoon. By August I think the Switch will have a pretty nice back catalogue of first party titles with ARMS, Splatoon, Mario Kart, Zelda and whatever that Kingdom Battle game is (I know its not first party), and with Mario on the horizon I think that's a nice excuse to finally pick it up.
  8. If I had to choose I'd go for the latter option: Develop a game from the ground up for the Switch. As Ethan already said though, I'm not sure why they can't do both. As for the new game, I cannot wait. This was one of the titles on my E3 wishlist and I'm glad to see Nintendo is maybe..finally starting to understand what it's customers want.
  9. I think it's really admirable actually. I'm someone who loves playing games locally, and whilst I get that it totally sucks if that's not a possibility, I really like the idea of them building a game from the ground up that can't be played solo.
  10. I've got some Steam codes for Wasted, Volgar the Viking, Westerado and Duck Game if anyone wants one.
  11. I've had that downloaded for 6 months. Did you happen to have a look at the co-op functionality at all? I wouldn't mind giving it a go with my partner, but I'm not sure how she'd handle some of the more demanding areas.
  12. Is it possible to link calendar events to a thread directly?

Not that I'm aware of, you can obviously put a link to a forum thread.

  13. Everyone is hoping, almost expecting a new Metroid game, which probably means it's going to be something entirely different. And who knows, maybe that'll be okay too.. [emoji58] [emoji58] Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk
  14. I downloaded that and ditched it after it took me (what felt like) ten minutes before the game actually let me play it. Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk
  15. What am I looking for from E3? I've got a new console and I'd kill for some fun games to play on it. Whilst I appreciate that 3rd party support will be lacking, I'm really hoping Nintendo can wow me with some cool stuff. Mario is a given, I'm going to buy that. I'm interested in this Rabbids thing....(shush) and I'm probably going to jump in on Splatoon II after giving the first game a miss. I'm desperate to see a new Metroid Prime game (hell I'd even take an HD re-release of Prime at this point). No bullshit pinball or arena shooters. Just Me, Samus and a shit load of spacey adventures, awesome alien looking things and a nice menu-scren would do the trick. Please Nintendo. Do something (anything) with this license. Also (and I shouldn't have to say this) put it on the Switch. The 3DS is great, but for my money you should be spending any future time making games for the system of the future. Failing that. I'd also accept a new game/remake of The Gamecubes Best Game Luigi's Mansion. That 3DS title was neat, and people went mad for it. Give the cooler brother another chance to (ahem) clean up with his own game. And Pokemon Switch. And Animal Crossing Switch. Star Fox? Switch??? Mario Tennis...on the Switch??????????? Away from Nintendo? Something Something Cyberpunk 2077. Something Something DMC2. Something Something Knights of the Old Republic 3.
  16. I'd be all over it but with my wonky work hours I've been unable to get online. Hoping to catch it this evening. No idea what to expect, although I'm not a massive fighting game fan so I guess my milage will vary depending on how close it sticks to that sort of game. I've got my fingers crossed for it though.
  17. Shame, I was secretely hoping it was a way for them to limit the time between the end of this season and the start of the final one.
  18. Yeah...I mean In an ideal world where 3rd parties made games for this thing I'd likely go with the less powerful version on the more portable hardware. And who's buying Nintendo hardware for 3rd party games at this point? [emoji58]
  19. That's a good fucking trailer. It's been about a year since we last saw the show right? I feel like I've forgotten an awful lot of what went down already, especially the 'show only' stuff.
  20. Initial feelings on the Switch after 36 hours: It's a damn cool system that I desperately hope people make games for, because I absolutely love using the thing. The Wii U was never a pleasure to use, it didn't even look nice. The Switch doesn't have those issues. It's super simple, and it looks damn good at the same time. I've mainly been playing Zelda on the couch whilst my GF watches TV, and despite my initial thoughts I could totally get used to playing games this way. Ultimately I think it's too early to tell how well the Switch will do, but god I hope they make games for this thing. Frankly, if it's a straight shot between choosing a better looking version on the PC/PS4 or a the more portable version on the Switch, I might for the latter. Same with Indies. Get me those games day and date as the XBOX/PS4/PC versions, and I'll probably pick them up for the Switch. Looking forward to ARMS this weekend. Only got the one set on Joycons (for now), but I'm sure I'll get the jist of it..
  21. Initial thoughts based almost entirely on the free comfort grip that comes with the console; they're okay. Everything is incredibly small; buttons, analogue sticks and even the shoulder buttons. It's working out okay whilst I play Zelda, but I imagine anything more action oriented is going to require the Pro controller. Initial thoughts on the Switch? This thing is so fucking cool. 22. Hey, I aint afraid of a little colour on my tech, its one of the reasons I adore the Gamecube as much as I do. As for the engagement, thing's have been a little crazy in the last month and I've not really had the time to get on PXOD to share the news. So no, you aren't the D bag for forgot. That honour falls to someone who doesn't frequent this fine forum.
  23. My Fiancee grabbed me a Switch as an early Xmas/Engagement gift. I opted for the coloured console because as a man who's slowely but surely losing all the colour in his hair; fuck grey. I've grabbed Zelda and Mario Kart alongside a screen protector. What else am I going to be needing?
