  1. Yeah, I'm not counting bundle packs with controllers and things.
  2. You liked FFXIII-2!? So much for being civil! But yeah, I mean, if you're worried about keeping your customers happy then good. Keep them happy with good content and good service. Don't try to appease them with marketing BS that's pretty transparent as it only makes people like me more irritated.
  3. Well, it also turned out the music industry was engaged in price fixing as well. I got a check from a class action suit for $8 over it.
  4. What's the most you've ever spent on a single game? I think for me it was Street Fighter 2 on the SNES. It was $83 which is like $123 today. They were gouging for it at the time because everyone wanted it. I had to have it.
  5. For the record I've kind of sworn off Limited Editions after the price went from $60 to $80. In the xbox days I'd pay an extra $10 for the steelbook and the making of DVD. I admit the LE's are cooler now but $80 is just a ton of money. The caveat is that I bought the HE version of MW3 for the map packs and I bought the Zelda CE because I needed another wiimote. If I can get a LE for cheap then I will pay a little more. I managed to get the SWTFU II CE for $20, the Batman AC CE for $35 was also a steal.
  6. For me it usually breaks down to $60 for Halo or COD or whatever multiplayer shooter I'm going to be playing. Usually these games take forever to drop in price anway and if I want to play with my friends I have to pay for it. I'll pay full price for titles I'm really excited about like a new MGS or an obscure game that might be hard to find like Xenoblade. $30 for games I'm really excited about like LA Noire, Deus Ex or RDR or other such games. $20 is my entry for other games that I'm wanting to play but can wait until I get around to it. (Infamous 2, Gears of War 3) $10-15 is my level for buying games to add to my backlog because I'm going to play them at some point and I know they don't usually drop much cheaper. (Bulletstorm, Red Faction Armageddon, Alpha Protocol).
  7. I guess what I found funny was when you said "The challenge is to get money out of that person". Yes, that is the challenge. We all know it is and accept it. EA doesn't say this. They say that online pass extends the life of games or provides more features or some other marketing garbage. EA says the always on DRM is because of the multiplayer aspects of games. EA complains about how used game sales hurt them and so forth. It's all marketing double speak and that's what irritates me. If EA were just to simply say "The challenge is to get money out of that person" and leave it at that I'd be fine because at least then we're all being honest and then gamers could be indignant about it and go on paying EA tons of money. Edit: Sorry if I was overly aggressive. I feel like I defend EA a lot too in other threads like the piracy thread. EA has a business to run and they're trying to make money and I don't begrudge them of that. Customers also have the right to not buy EA's stuff if they're upset and that's cool too. I just wish we'd all be a little more honest on both sides. EA will wring more money out of customers if they can and customers will continue to be pissed off and pay EA at the same time.
  8. It was the other way around for me. I loved Ninja Turtles but Transformers were before my time. Well, actually after my time to if you count the CGI ones like beast wars. My childhood was right on the tail end of Ghostbusters and TMNT was the majority of it followed by Power Rangers which I got tired of pretty quick. The original TMNT movie was a big event in my youth. I was 7 when it came out. I remember my mom being very upset at just how much violence there was and all the times that Raphael said "damn". This of course made me love it all the more. I haven't watched it in a couple of years but as I recall it was a fantastic movie so the idea of recreating the whole thing bothers me more than it would another franchise that I was less connected with.
  9. What bothers me is that publishers like EA are creating new restrictions on content and somehow acting as if it's not a huge money grab. It's the mentality of "we deserved this anyway" even though historically that's never been the case with any media via first sale rights. EA and other publishers are attempting to remove customers first sale rights and at the same time attempt to play the victim. I think that's the sham. Quit pretending like you're the ones who are being victimized here.
  10. Yeah, the additional mechanics are starting to feel very tacked on at this point. Calling in your assassin's in Brotherhood and now bombs in Revelations. They're okay and all but completely unnecessary.
  11. I did that a ton in the first AC. The knives were even a bit too good in the original. I remember that being not as useful in later games though.
  12. yeah, ME games prices tank faster than any other game ever. I almost wonder if it's EA's plan to get the game in as many people's hands as possible to start selling DLC.
  13. Clearly you don't understand Chicago politics. but seriously, in AC2 you could at least get the capes to make your notoriety stay at zero. There's no way to do that in AC:R as far as I know and that's a little annoying.
  14. Why do I feel like the Neir love is an equal and opposite reaction to the initial Neir hate?

I recently heard it was pretty short, which made me think I should try it. TBH though I could relate somewhat to a brother character and not at all to a father. Never been one, never wanted to. Would that matter or is the girl just a MacGuffin?

iirc depending on what version you get depends on if Nier is a father or a brother to the girl. And yeah, it's pretty short. Hence a chunk of my "meh"-ness. There's only like 6 areas, coming from a central hub village. Does start to grind a bit.

Yes, I think it's split between PS3 and 360 - but in English, both systems got the version that only sold a fraction as much as the other in Japan.

  15. Meh, then you just kill more of them and it goes back to neutral. What sense does that make?
  16. He's a witch! BURN HIM! *Edit* - Seriously though, this is ridiculous. You can reinterpret it without changing the entire backstory. I mean, it doesn't have to be exactly as explained in previous iterations, but the broad strokes need to be there. Exactly. I'm actually pretty excited about a new NT movie but I don't want to see it butchered. You can update a classic without destroying the source material. Of course, if they were current teenagers they might be emo turtles, that would be very very bad.
  17. It was annoying constantly bribing officials. I also thought it was strange that the notoriety meter remains even after you've locked all the hideouts as it effectively does nothing. Honestly the whole notoriety system seems like more of a bother than anything else and I'd be fine if they did away with it completely. If they're really stuck on it maybe they could do some kind of scenario like in Hitman where depending on how stealthy you were in the last mission the next mission will be easier or harder.
  18. Yep, we can't have people playing games without paying tribute to EA.
  19. Round 3 has begun! begin the voting. Uncharted is dead! WOOT! MGS vs. LOZ is probably the hardest choice I've had to make so far.
  20. For the record, the original TMNT live action movie was AWESOME and there's no way Michael Bay's movie will come close to it.
  21. I'm so confused by this whole thing. There's a follow up article here. http://www.grantland.com/blog/hollywood-prospectus/post/_/id/46536/michael-bay-must-be-stopped-ninja-turtles-drop-%E2%80%98teenage%E2%80%99 I hate it when Directors and Writers think they know better than the source material and butcher it into garbage film. See every videogame movie ever.
  22. http://www.grantland.com/blog/hollywood-prospectus/post/_/id/46163/michael-bay%E2%80%99s-ninja-turtles-remake-incites-civil-war Michael Bay is making a MNT sans the T? Strange.
  23. IRL firing flares would only detract the missiles and not disrupt your lock on to an enemy fighter. In BF3 it seems by the time you've locked back on and fired a 2nd missile the flares have already reloaded making heat seekers effectively worthless. It's even worse with the chaff which will still break lock as I understand. They need to make it so that guns aren't the only way to shoot someone down. Does anyone have any tips on flying the jets? It seems the really good pilots can get around behind me even if I'm on their six. I'm not sure what the secret to turning around quickly is.
  24. this is the most interesting the UK politics thread has ever been
  25. is it bad if you have an argument with your wife and she's mad and doesn't want to talk to you anymore and you're happy because it means you can go play videogames?

But. Should you listen, just once, and do what she wants or expects, you have started going down that slippery slope. After that first step is a large fall.

In that case, do what Captain Kirrahe would do...

      Hold the Line!

On a serious note, do what doesn't make you feel guilty. I'm actually happy for you that you feel happy in a situation like that. Like Ethan and P4 said, they won't enjoy gaming at that time.

Like I said, I've had to learn that she just needs time to cool off during a fight sometimes. Can't do anything at that point anyway.
