  1. Yeah, Dean didn't even give me a free game. Good point.
  2. now foxnews is getting in on the rumors http://www.foxnews.c...intcmp=features some very juicy rumors in here: "The console reportedly contains better graphics and a resolution better than most high-definition TV sets, with users able to play 3D games in full HD."
  3. Kickstarter itself may be a fad. I'd love it if people just gave me money rather than to a charity but maybe that's not really that responsible of them? I dunno, if I'm going to donate money I'd rather give to a worthy cause <-------------
  4. Very nice, congrats. I remember being somewhat terrified by signing a mountain of paperwork during closing.
  5. Well, more good points in the article. "Gauchat’s paper was based on annual responses in the General Social Survey, which asks people: “I am going to name some institutions in this country. As far as the people running these institutions are concerned, would you say you have a great deal of confidence, only some confidence, or hardly any confidence at all in them?” One institution mentioned was “the scientific community.” So when fewer people answered “a great deal” and more answered “hardly any” with regard to “the scientific community,” they were demonstrating more skepticism not toward science but toward the people running scientific institutions." "What’s surprising is that liberals have grown less skeptical over the same period. (Perhaps because scientific institutions have been telling them things they want to hear?)"
  6. a few more obligatory entries if you need them to fill blanks. The saddest track ever: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7OSjxWJuuqQ
  7. Belief in science on the down turn. http://www.nypost.com/p/news/opinion/opedcolumnists/faith_in_science_ElyzoJm9wNW7Vl7m8ESXYP "the decline in trust rose with education. Instead, he suggests that it’s the increasing use of science as ammunition for big-government schemes that has led to more skepticism."

  9. Yeah, we invented 911 dangit! Never tried dialing 999 though, might work. I don't really want to try it though.
  10. So it's official that Kinect is a freaking joke. That video was awesome.
  11. Wanted to play some Resistance 3 before I had to leave for work. It downloads 4 updates and installs, takes me over 30 minutes just to start a game. Stupid PS3.

The reason 360 has to keep patches so small is for people they sold hdd-less consoles. No idea why the PSN ones are bigger for the ones that don't add content

      Compression differences? Who knows.

File system that the PS3 uses forces larger updates. Kind of like the Steam issue with the Witcher 2 where you had to download 4 GB for every patch, even for minor bugfixes.

PS3 downloads, for some reason, are infuratingly slow for me. It might be because I'm using Wi-Fi, but even with other Wi-Fi devices I never get downloads that slow.

  12. okay, final matchup is now on. Mario vs. Zelda.
  13. General purpose gpu or basically using gpus to do other things than just graphics.
  14. I'm all for them using gpgpu and you're probably right that it's going to be more prevelant in the new systems it's just hard for me to be excited for it again 6 years later.
  15. Yeah, it's just been in the pipes for so long now that I'm really losing interest a bit. One of the guys makes a point about making the hardware more similar. Even if you can't get MS and Sony to make a console together at least they could bother to make their architecture more compatible which I think would be good for gamers as there would be more continuity between systems. Edit: It seems it was 2006 when I was excited about PhysX.
  16. Cool! I never knew you could do that.
  17. I've been hearing about this gpgpu and before that the ppu stuff for so long but I'm still not seeing it actually being implemented into anything. I wonder if it's really going to be a big deal ever.
  18. Yes, I just pasted in the é from the character map. Handy when singing a song. ♫we're men, we're men in tights! ♫
  19. Rather than actually bothering to play Persona 4 I'm just going to watch the GB Endurance run in its entirety. http://www.giantbomb.com/endurance-run-persona-4-part-01/17-219/

I should just do this for games that I can't play due to system constraints...

probably better than actually playing the game because these guys are hilarious. I've LOL'd more than once.

Started trying to play Persona 3 and I realized one reason I have trouble getting into JRPG's that I'd forgotten about: there's way too much exposition and shit at the beginning before you really get to do anything, it's boring as fuck.

  20. I thought it was the historical aspect of fantasy. Ye oldé english movie!
  21. you can't kill the penny! If you do then you'll make it no fun that odd time that your order adds up to an exact dollar amount!
  22. It's not the zombie games that I mind it's really just the inclusion of zombies where they don't belong. Dean's point about them being easy to program is a valid one I think. I just find zombies to be very limited as antagonists and outside of the apocalyptic survival exercise that people love to run over repeatedly zombies are not nearly as fun to play with in games. Halo is a good example. The covenant are fun to fight against and they yell insults at you and can provide a good exciting firefight. The flood just rush at you and are very annoying and result in the worst level in the game, the infamous library.
  23. Interesting about the mouse DPI thing.
  24. Psh, I can think of 16 other songs that deserve to fill a bracket. I'd be happy to make it myself if he can't be bothered to.
