Excessive, early and excessively early DLC

So apparently the lost archive DLC has a huge plot point relating to Assassin's Creed. It's the answer to the question that was posed at the end of Assassin's Creed Brotherhood. This is a prime example of crappy DLC including huge plot points in a poor way that should have been in the game in the first place. All of this is on top of the fact that the game was called "Revelations" and they hid the biggest revelation in a DLC add on. Screw you Ubisoft! -

Paid DLC to me is like going to a Burger King that charges for refills on their drinks and for dipping sauce and keeps the napkins behind the counter and only gives you one or two at a time. I usually just go somewhere else that doesn't pull that crap.

I liked X-Men Wolverine too. You're a bit late to the party on that one though. Speaking of late to the party. I just finished AC:R. Save from the very very end there were very few "Revelations" and even then it wasn't much more than we already knew.

Without the metanarative the plots would seem narrow and hollow. I love it when a game goes down the rabbit hole rather than copping out even if it goes a bit crazy. I even liked Indigo Prophecy (Fahrenheit) better than Heavy Rain for that reason.

SSB was a ton of fun with 4 players. In a lot of ways it had that Goldeneye appeal of a game that could just be played for hours on end. I think comparing SSB to Tekken or SF is like comparing Mario Kart to Forza. It's not really fair. I don't know if an RDR sequel can possibly be as good as RDR (even though it was a sequel) simply because the novelty factor of RDR was so high and the artistry as well. A lot of what made the game so great can't really be repeated. That being said I still really want a sequel. I'm just not expecting it to have the same impact.

I don't think paid DLC does much to help piracy at all. I could be wrong though.

So apparently if you put subtitles on in Assassin's Creed Revelations it gives you translations for the words that are in other languages. Would have been nice to learn this two games ago.

Yeah, I always turn subtitles on if it's an option.

If that's an issue I tweak in the audio settings which usually lets you turn SFX down and keep voices where they are. Or I use my good headphones then I can hear everything clearly. Though tbh, in a lot of games subs make no difference besides clarity, but some games definitely suffer with subs on .

Like Kenshi, I rarely use subtitles. Unless the game is really awful about volume levels and won't let me tweak them. Or if it's entirely in a language I don't speak.

Yeah, those surprised me a lot too. Uncharted won simply because of seeding I think. Interesting that it was 50/50 on that one. Super Smash Bros. was in here because it was in the "TAY's top 50" thread and because I was trying to represent all the genres. I don't feel there were any obvious choices that I left out instead of putting it in there. Also it won so isn't that reason enough to have it in the bracket. I voted for RDR because I loved that game. Round 2 has begun in case you guys didn't realize too. Vote now!

I will say that the current rash of HD re-releases makes me less in a rush to pick up games I've beaten but don't own just for my collection. Has anyone played the Jak and Daxter collection? How is it?

^I don't see how you can have both. Not every product is meant to appeal to everyone. For those that like Home it's not a failure. Madden isn't a failure because I don't like sports games.

I'm really gald someone else thought of this track. When this played was such a picturesque/surreal moment in the game. One of those few moments where a game really becomes an experience for me. YOU WILL PAY FOR THIS! I'd like to submit this: and this: I'm still upset this theme was not in MGS4 for legal reasons.

Okay gents. Bracket is now live. http://public.bracke....php?id=970&r=1 let me know if that link works. If not just try searching for PXOD I tried to seed the most obvious choices higher than the underdogs. This is mostly just a test run. Rounds are automatically scheduled ever 2 or so days with round 2 starting on Monday I believe. Let me know if you're having trouble accessing it and I'll try to fix it. May your favorite game win. I was going to try and arrange like genres to fight against each other but that was going to be too hard as you can only rank linearly 1-32 and it brackets it somehow and I didn't want to bother to figure it out.
