  1. ugh, tl;dr everyone else's opinions but i will submit that the first time i ever played several games that were never released outside of japan or only released on the snes (which i didn't own until i bought a used system years later) was on an emulator. in that case i'm not giving the people who made the system or game money and why should i care if i get it for free at that point? i'd rather get it for free than pay some dickface smiling at his previous taste, if you are willing to sell it for some much why aren't you keeping it? that is just the way i feel, and i'll probs play a game ppl love/hate (chrono cross) and that i never played on my psp instead of paying some dbag for it on ebay because of it. am i wrong? everyone i know who loves music totes supports me if i don't buy music from ebay and just copy it in absence of a way to buy it from the artist. i feel the same way about comics / books, so why should i feel differently about videogames? classics are classics, no?
  2. SHOW clueless? did you ever see the movie it was based off of? am i really that fucking old????
  3. it totes depends on the game. i mean, ffxiii had it all the way at "regain life every battle" but anyone who played ffi knows that they were brutal with not even just the towns being so far away but sleeping bags and tents only repairing some and the expensive cottages being the most useful. so... i guess, it makes sense to walk around and regain some hp/mp most times. but i'm not particularly a fan when it makes shit too easy, i'd just rather it not be the damning factor that it used to be in games of olde.
  4. wow ethan, way to kill everyone's dreams of yr irl name being ethan. geez. consider slithy disillusioned.
  5. not dead, but innattentive to the board. sorry, my irl family and friends keep getting me hammered.

    1. diedan

      diedan

Not dead is a wonderful thing to be!

  6. happy birthday to d-k! i thought you were like 3-4 years older than you really are, so make of that what you will. *kisses* - slithy

  7. i had an ex that i stayed friendly with go to college there and the way that i understood it is that it was mostly a steel worker thing?
  8. so on this when i'm not on my phone. nice rob (zombie) muddling d-k!
  9. ok, happy new year everyone. be safe and all that jazz.

  10. i used to do that all the time when i was younger. it was fun. i think i'm going to start doing that again, you have a good point. it's good practice. we have a lot of writers on this forum, which i guess isn't that strange.
  11. nah, it was a very good game. it was just tiny toons. and i realized i forgot contra. i loved contra. i used to get so excited every time i got the spray gun thingey.
  12. yeah, the game got loads easier after you got cid but some of the deep dungeon levels were hard even with him and an otherwise well built team. i think that's one of the things that made that game so great and replayable was that you could beat the game with a relatively weak team or just keep on playing and getting into other, tougher fights for practically forever.
  13. when i was a child i was partial to excitebike, super mario bros 3. and (let's not laugh, i was a child) i played the hell out of the NES tiny toons game - i played most often as furrball. the games that i played that have affected me most have probably been the zelda games and dragon warrior, but when those first came out i was a little too young to totally get into them and all of their epicness, though i did replay them when i got older and could enjoy them more fully.
  14. i'm from new england and... yes, we really use the word wicked all the time and if you're from new england and say you don't you're a goddamned liar no, we don't like it when people do it to pander to us (i'm looking at you advertisements) i know some people from the south and they use some strange slang that i can't recall at the moment and i've heard people from the pittsburgh area use "yins" a lot, meaning like you all or a variant of "you's"
  15. getting in some morning videogame time. aaaaaw yeah.

  16. in my experience dogs are easier to do anything to than cats. they're so trusting, and cats are.... not.
  17. oh god no, i hate mmos. i'm referring to mainly srpgs and action rpgs. i guess i'm just slow with an ax in the action ones. in sprgs they definitely have a worse hit rate.
  18. my first game that my parents bought for me was some kind of sesame street pc game that had a plastic piece you put over the keyboard that was shapes and whatnot so that toddler me could match them up with things on the screen. my brother and sister were much older than me and had an atari when i was that young as well, i remember playing that scary game where you get chased around by the face and frogger a lot. then we got an NES and the rest, as they say, is history.
  19. actually the only time i really like axes is if i can use them in conjunction with something like a ninja sword. they usually frustrate me as a primary weapon because of their high miss rate, but if i can stab someone with a sword and then possibly hack at them with an ax for more damage i'm one happy slithy.
  20. well, i did go to a bar earlier this year that had a picture of a banana fucking a coconut next to someone writing "2011 best year ever" so maybe they're from the same time traveling clan? oh, and if anyone ever goes to amherst, ma go into the bathroom at any bar. best/weirdest bathroom graffiti ever.
  21. ah, yeah, i'm ok with like restaurant crowds and stuff. i am phenomenally good at ignoring people i don't want to hear. like crazy good. but crowds that are so thick that you have to like be near people, those get to me, because it's so much harder to ignore them when you just bumped into them or stepped on their foot.
  22. i'm with the brain here, if there is anything that lets you carry two weapons i'm all over it. especially if they let you play as a girl. other than that i like to be something well-rounded, i.e. if there is a red-mage type character and there's only one character you can play i'll probably take that in the absence of carrying two swords/knives.
  23. d-k i'm impressed by the dedication to keeping the cat sane. i really don't like going out on crowded holidays so i'd prefer to stay in and maybe drink a few beers but i'm probably going to get dragged out at least a little bit. i'm just hoping to not be in too many crowds or be on the roads with all stupid drunk drivers. i hate crowds, because i hate people, and that's what crowds are made of so going out on new years is not my favorite thing.
  24. i hated the game, i could never get into it and the only reason i ever finished it is because it's my brother's favorite ff game and he kept telling me the romance made it worth it, go back and finish it, which i finally did like 10+ years after it was released. i still didn't think it was worth it once i did, i just couldn't get into the story or characters and i found myself angry every time you'd have the dream sequences with laguna and gang because i wanted the whole game to be that story instead. if it was their story instead the game would have been 100% better imo. my brother wasn't the only one, almost every person i know who loves that awful game points to the romance story as the reason, or one of the main reasons, why they like it. edit: so nice to see all the love for tactics here. it really is such a deliciously good game.
  25. yeah, i know they'd fuck up a new phantasy star if they tried to make it properly. same thing w/ fftactics2 probably, but a girl can dream, can't she?
