The child in me that grew up with TMNT (I've still got those four VHS tapes you could get from the Burger King Kid's Club from waaaaay back) is throwing a fit about the changes, but the nostalgia hating adult in me is looking at him like that boy ain't right. Bay probably opted for the backstory change so he could justify the obvious romance subplot he has in mind. The turtles have come to earth! For our women! -

Got a new AC adapter for my brother's Wii (since I soft modded it to run emulators because he really wanted to play again and I want my nieces and nephews to appreciate video games dammit) and a headset for his 360 (since he constantly wants to borrow mine) for his birthday. He's going to have to get his own damn classic controller for the Wii though. Grabbed it for my best friend for his birthday since he wanted to try it out. Because the ones that came with the thing appear to have shit a brick.

I wish I could be more excited about the Wii U, but its big selling point seems to be 'will actually get go ports of games you'll have already bought on the PC/360/PS3' in conjunction with 'awkward control scheme again!'.

Alex is my first name. Heat comes from [shin Megami Tensei:] Digital Devil Saga since for some reason, the game really REALLY REALLY resonated with me (enough that I thought it was a good idea to get Heat's atma as a tattoo even).

Intrigued by news of SMT4 and the new Lords of Shadow game. Wish I could punch every putz on the internet that whines about Castlevania needing to be a 2D sprite based platformer again. Fuck those guys. I grew up with sprites, hell, I had a sprite comic for a while! But let's be fucking serious, they would re-use Rondo and SotN sprites and cut as many corners as they could. Get over that nostalgia, god dammit!

Nostalgia aside, have you played a good 3D CV? I haven't... I'm really not a purist, it's just 2D is all they've proven themselves in so far.

I actually liked Curse of Darkness and Lords of Shadow, so I'm probably in the minority.

Well, I mostly played SotN and CotM so I'm not a diehard CV fan, but to me CV as a 3D action platformer is like XCom as an FPS or Final Fantasy as a TPS. I tried LoS but just didn't feel it. It had nothing that drew me to CV before.
Still, I agree that if they do 2D again, they will reuse every sprite they can. The HD multiplayer one was... easily forgotten, IMO.

It is kind of depressing to watch someone I know personally continue to be so incredibly butthurt about Mass Effect 3's ending. I can't even begin to comprehend how a single bad ending can drive people to such childish madness.

I can somewhat understand why people were upset, but the claims are VERY exaggerated. I expected something worse than what it was, honestly.

It's really a pity how an underwhelming ending has overshadowed what was otherwise an amazing game.

Personally I thought the entire game was a series of disappointments, with recycled character development and predictable plot; I never even finished the game.
Looking up the ending on youtube, it's shittiness feels right at home with the rest of the game to me.

Just beat RAGE today. More accurate to say I got to the end of RAGE and wondered where the rest of the game went.

I know a few people who generally play MMOs to the near exclusion of any other game. I personally don't understand it since it's pretty much the opposite of my own mentality (wherein I feel like it is WAY better to play a diverse number of games) and when I get right down to it, the idea of being beholden to one game just annoys the hell out of me.

I went skulking about Craigslist the other day and happened across a decent TV for $5 that I could hook all my old consoles (the PSX, Dreamcast, Saturn and PS2). Felt like a reasonable use of a fiver to me. Bonus: The dude had an entertainment center that he was just giving away to boot! Awwwwwwwwwwww yeah.

I'd say it's worth full price, but if you've got the patience (or a backlog like I do), you could safely wait out a price drop. I only rented it since the local video place gave me a free rental coupon, but I intend to buy it once I get my funds back up.

So I started Silent Hill Downpour the other day. I think I've played it for maybe five hours because I am being so deliberately slow and cautious as I keep psyching myself up for a scare that doesn't come.

Offered to take a look at my older brother's Wii to see what was wrong with it. Turns out that it just needs a new power brick. Since I'm currently suffering from a severe case of what the doctors tell me is POVERTY, I'll have to wait until the end of the month to get him a new one.
