  1. Oh snap, I forgot all about this thread! Sorry about that, Dean. Even though I think it's fair to want same-sex marriage/romance represented in a life/dating sim, I'm with you on the dev doing what they will and making what they want to make. It'd be a different story if their angle were 'we're excluding the gays because we hate them and they might give us cooties'. Like you said, the notion probably never crossed their minds. Still, good on them for considering it for a future Tomodachi game (unless this bit of controversy made it an unappealing thought).
  2. You shouldn't, no, but you also shouldn't immediately start howling and calling a company homophobic bigots because the patch to a game breaking bug that was being linked to the fact that people were making male Miis and assigning their gender as female (which is still possible). The point is that no one did the research before internet armchair activists went in guns blazing about intolerance and inequality and so on and so forth. I'm all for equality, I just think that the radical element is screwing things up for everyone else. Edit: That aside, there's also the general cultural issues with gay marriage in Japan. They're not exactly super progressive when it comes to that and Nintendo really isn't in the position to be the one who leads the charge in challenging the authority on the matter. Also threw in a link to the details. It's IGN, but whatevs.
  3. Can I just say that all this stuff with Tomodachi Life is really stupid and also a textbook case of Social Justice Warriors failing to pick their battles? Because it really is.
  4. I mostly feel like this when Arin plays games because it seems like he just fucks around a lot and doesn't really try to play (Parodius is a good example of this). Some of the recent VS. episodes have been good though. Maybe it's just that games that are slower and don't require twitch reflexes are better suited for their style (or at least Arin's because Danny rocked Gun.Smoke).
  5. You should sue! And share the proceeds with us!
  6. I mostly just want the custom soundtrack option that the 360 spoiled me with, but being able to watch my digital versions of Golgo 13 would be aces.
  7. On the plus side, this should mean that media streaming and the DNLA will be the focus of the next update.
  8. It's probably to set up for ME4 because they don't want to go through the effort of setting up a save station like the Dragon Age Keep does for DA.
  9. A PS4 version of ME1-3 would only be worthwhile if they altered ME1 and 2's gameplay to match 3's. Looking nicer is all well and good, but I don't think I could sit through ME1's gameplay anymore.
  10. Any damn game that gives you the ability to run, but attaches it to some kind of stamina meter or some shit like that. Devs, if you feel that a sprint function is necessary, that probably means the default running speed is too slow or the world is needlessly large. Just let me fucking run all the damn time if I want to.
  11. In the last month or so, I've burned through a bunch of stuff on my backlog and some stuff that wasn't: inFAMOUS 2, which would've been great, if not for all of that weird swamp monster stuff. Only did a Good Karma playthrough so far because I couldn't stand Nix at all. inFAMOUS: Second Son was a lot of fun, though it seemed like it was over kind of quick. Played with Good Karma because Neon was amazing (dat neon dash tho) and super fun. I hope we get another sequel with a bigger variety of powers and abilities. Enchanted Arms was something I had reservations about when I first started playing it, but it started to grow on me after a while. Didn't care for the battle system or some of the mechanics (like the lack of a genuine defense stat), but overall it was still relatively enjoyable. Yaiba: Ninja Gaiden Z was more enjoyable that the modern NG games for me. Has a lot to do with the fact that I find NG's combat to be full of bullshit because of its awful camera (something Yaiba also suffers from) and its kind of half-assed approach to blocking and counterattacking (Yaiba still has these, but they don't detract enough to make unplayable). Magus was mostly unremarkable. It had an interesting idea in regards to the plot, but the execution of the whole thing was...not so great. Resistance 1-3 I'm putting all together because for the most part, they all played similarly (except when Resistance 2 did that 'only two weapons' thing). It was fun, but it felt like the weapons leveled too slowly (and believe me, I tried to use them evenly) and enemy AI was sketchy (lots of things ran face first into my weapon fire). I do really like when shoots have guns with secondary functions and ammo though. Ratchet & Clank: Quest for Booty and Into the Nexus were both...a little on the short side. I know Quest for Booty was just there to hold you over until Crack in Time came out and that's acceptable, but Into the Nexus seemed like they had a lot more played, but dropped it all partway through, leaving it feeling like a barebones formulaic affair. Singularity was pretty great. Almost all the weapons were sollid choices (except the pistol, which was way WAY too weak and the sniper rifle, which was broken because of its time slowing ability). The TMD powers had potential, but ended up going largely unused because it was always easier to shoot someone in the face than wait for the meter to recharge.
  12. He's not a shiba inu. Therefore he is not Japanese.
  13. My only beef with Samus is that ever since the Zero Suit, her design has gotten more and more generically anime. Though I am also one of those people who greatly preferred it when palette limitations gave her green hair, if only because blonde hair/blue eyes is the female equivalent of a white male in his late 20s with brown hair and a 5 o'clock shadow.
  14. Mickey Rooney I can understand, but man, John Pinette and now the Ultimate Warrior? Did everyone make some kind of devil pact on the same day?

Warrior did too much coke in the 80's. I'm surprised he lasted this long.

  15. If they can cut their development times/budgets to be more in line with the sales you can expect from this sort of game nowadays then they are filling a role which is not being well served at the moment and there is no reason they shouldn't be successful. I certainly hope they are as we need as much diversity in the medium as possible, things are getting much too homogenised as companies (feel the) need to be more and more conservative. We really, REALLY do. Although it seems like the tide of military shooters might actually be subsiding somewhat.
  16. I never noticed any frame dipping either. I beat Second Son a few hours ago and I gotta say, I never used the Video power unless I was obligated to. Once I got Neon, I was basically set for the whole game. Its Dash ability was the best (albeit not as fast when it came to vertical movement), SloMo made takedowns easy and Radiant Sweep pretty much trounces Orbital Drop and Heaven, Hell and Delsin.
  17. In this thread, Square-Enix remembers what genre people liked them for*. * Ehrgeiz and Tobal are also acceptable answers.
  18. I've been forgetting to post about purchases. Whoops!
