I played a Vanguard because the game gave me a Drell one in the starter pack. 360 version gave me the same again but I figured I'd try Soldier to keep it simple. I'd try something else, but Soldier's are a must for any team, I think.

I meant the extra cosmetic stuff, which I'm guessing was kept limited or just left out of the demo. I did get some of those packs with a character thing in. Never for one I was playing though, so I didn't check to see if I got some new options there. Usually it was weapons and mods.

True, it probably would be nice to have that option. Especially since the full game will probably be mixing in more items (customisation stuff seems absent, to me).

I quite like the random nature of the unlock things. Can usually get a rocket and a medi-gel from a pack each time. Plus, it takes me back to packs of football cards/pogs/Pokémon cards. Playing Soldier on 360 with a varied team (Engineer, Sentinel and Adept), I got a better feel for the game. I think it helped that we all clicked rather well too, without any need for communication. Rarely needed a medi-gel either because the team was tight. There's a lot of need for flanking as well as combined power usage to really be effective, but that comes with knowing the map and spawn points. For example, where I was playing Vanguard before, my friend was an Infiltrator but not a very aggressive one and I never felt like I had anyone watching my back. Plus, it was really easy to lose my bearings...

I'm not too bothered about that. As far as I'm aware, it's just the Collecter's Assault Rifle (which I already have) and stuff for multiplayer (which probably unlocks anyway). Had a go at playing a Soldier in MP on the 360 and that was a lot of fun. Adrenaline Rush is way powerful.

Sorry, bit tired. Meant with Kinect. As in, Kinect users would find themselves unable to issue commands to certain party members because they were not accounted for.

Saw that a few days ago. Really hope they just kept some back to avoid spoilers. Disappointing if not. I mean, we know some old faces will make appearances as temporary squadmates (and what about DLC characters?), so would you not be able to command them without Kinect? Or do they not even technically join your squad?

I can play on any of the available platforms. Although, I'd have to download the demo on PS3. Plus, I'm not a huge fan of the controller (don't start that again). I'll probably be on PC in a short while. Origin name is: HotHeart. EDIT: Managed to play a game with Vargras (and another of my friends) and we were kicking butt. Well, Vargras was. The rest of us were just sweeping up the remains. Really need at least 3 people (of a decent level) to give it a shot, even on Bronze level though. Which is a shame.

So, I started playing on PC and in my starter pack I unlocked a Drell Vanguard; a class I hadn't actually tried in the demo yet. It's pretty fun and having to use hotkeys hasn't been so bad, plus you can always bring up the menu with shift, if you're really stuck; it just doesn't pause the action. I like the fancy moves the Drell has too. Shame I encountered a bug during my second game that meant I couldn't use Charge (Pull was fine though...), pick up ammo or climb one ladder in particular. Not sure what happened in the first game, we did wave 10 and then had to get to an extraction zone but two guys stayed outside killing things. Then when we all died except one, the last guy stayed in the LZ until the timer ran down but then it said Mission Failed: Wave 11.

I'm actually quite looking forward to giving multiplayer a go. Although, I have to wonder what sort of benefits being a Krogan soldier has, since adrenaline rush won't work like before (maybe it recharges abilities like ME1?), you can't really take cover behind low bits of scenery and everyone has access to all the weapons now anyway. I'm guessing they're a bit tougher overall, and don't suffer many penalties for heavy weapons.

I believe so, yeah. I've downloaded the demo on 360 too, just to increase my chances of getting a game with someone.

See, I'd like to think that but I'm not sure if they were just trying to keep the pace of the sequence going. For example, there's no workbench (which would've been nice to show off in the demo), which means no tinkering with things; just a pure focus on action throughout. I doubt Wrex would be happy with you faffing about with your weapons when you're supposed to be getting the hell out of there as quickly as possible. Then again, they may have put a workbench in since...

I do think the game is going to have quite an emphasis on tightly-focused set-pieces. Like, wander around for a bit and then the action kicks in. They seem to have painted themselves into that corner because of the story. ...I'd love to be wrong though
